Police have charged Tyson ‘Boyee’ Thomas of Portsmouth with the shooting of 36-year-old Abraham Prince of Colihut on the early morning hours of October 2.
The incident occurred outside a popular nightclub in Lagoon, Portsmouth. He was also charged with a similar offense that was allegedly committed in mid September.
Thomas, who is in his early 20s, appeared before a magistrate on Monday and was slapped with 16 gun-related charges, three of which were indictable.
He was remanded on all counts.
According to police spokesman Claude Weekes, the young man was actually on bail for another shooting incident that took place on Carnival Tuesday. Weekes said he was released on bail on his own recognizance but with all the restrictions.
Police are still to determine the motive for the shooting and the weapon has not been recovered.
This is the second such incident in Portsmouth. The suspect in the other case has also been arrested and also charged with gun-related offenses, while his victim sits in a wheelchair for a period undetermined.

@Da/in US: Apparently your studies are not being taken seriously or you fell asleep in class when the subject was being discussed. Getting the gun after the crime is committed is only relevant in certain jurisdictions and circumstances. If there is primary evidence that a gun was used in the commission of a crime like this case, then the defendant can be charged with the crime of possession because he had to be in possession of the gun to commit the crime. However, it is more difficult for the prosecution to prove that case simply because the gun was not retrieved. In other words getting rid of the gun does not shield a criminal from prosecution as long as there is credible evidence that a gun was used in the commission of the crime. Hopefully the prosecutor have all his ducks in a row on this one.

People who comit these violent offences especially against other persons, thereby causing grevious bodily harm, loss of limbs or paralysis should NOT be granted bail on their own recognisiance. It is obvious that proper sureties don’t want to risk standing by these violent offenders. The result is usually they go out and commit more of the same or similiar offences. Why is the police all of a sudden afraid of the criminals in DA. I can recall a young man robbing a coco cola truck with a gun and did not want to give it up.The police put him in a freezer and force to talk,i think the police should use these same tactics.
