UPDATE: Relatives suspected of beating man to death

Harrison Williams, deceased.

Police have arrested a man suspected of killing his brother in Soufriere on Friday night and are also planning to detain two sisters believed to be involved in the slaying, according to the wife of the homicide victim.

Harrison Williams, 40, aka ’17 Sweat’ died after being beaten by several relatives in the southern village at about 9 p.m. Friday.

His wife, Jacqueline Williams, 30, told Dominica News Online in an exclusive interview Saturday morning that she witnessed her husband’s beating and death along with their children, Hershema, 11; Hershel, 6; Rosell, 2 and Maliaka Samuel, 12.

Jacqueline said her husband usually drives into the village centre on Friday evenings to hang out, drink beers and buy fish. Last Friday evening, he was in a similar mood and asked his wife and children to accompany him.

They joined him.

As they approached the foot of the hill, Jacqueline said “they (relatives) blocked the road with two tin drums”. She said an argument subsequently erupted between the relatives and her husband, who always argued that he is tired of the fighting and wanted peace.

She told her husband to leave them alone, but he continued to argue with them. She said her husband armed himself with a piece of wood, which was subsequently used to kill him.

The wife told DNO that after her husband received the first blow to the forehead, he somewhat retreated, but moments after one of the relatives used the piece of wood he had to hit him in the back of the head. He then fell in the drain. She said he appeared unconscious but was bleeding profusely from a gaping wound to the back of the head.

Jacqueline Williams

She said one of the relatives continued to beat him with the wood, and denied that her husband threw any blows.

“I think if it was a stranger they would have left him but those people have no heart,” the wife said.

She told DNO that it was the wound at the back of her husband’s head that killed him as the first blow to the forehead did not appear to bleed. She believed he died on the spot, and expressed her disappointment at the fact he was still being beaten by his own flesh and blood while laying lifeless in a drain.

She said the feud between her husband and his brothers and sisters began after she got married in 2001. She claimed her husband’s family despised her and warned him not to marry to her.

Jacqueline said it was her husband who assisted in constructing the home of one of the relatives who allegedly killed him. She is mystified as to why they never attacked her on the night or any other occasion, though it is obvious she is the root of the “war”.

“I close to them (the relatives live next door) and they never say anything to me… they kill the man,” she said.

“… Just because they don’t like the wife they destroy the man’s life,” she added.

When DNO visited Soufriere on Saturday morning, scores of people converged outside the police station, located a few blocks from the deceased’s home. Several persons were seen walking away crying, while a woman shout angrily “wicked people them”. Another woman openly criticised the police for not making swift arrests.

Other villagers conversed about the incident. One of them told DNO that the entire village is “upset” about the “senseless killing”, saying the deceased, a construction worker by trade, was a “good respectable, family man” who was tired of the feud and wanted peace.

The villager further told DNO that she believes that his own family was jealous of him and his “stable family”, having built his own house and “living it up”.

Another resident said Harrison Williams is well known for employing many from the community and is one of the best construction builders in the village.

On reaching the couple’s pink-coloured home, perched on a steep hill, friends, family and curious onlookers surrounded the distraught wife in the living room, trying to comfort her. Everyone was in a sombre mood.

DNO visited the police station, about a minute’s walk from the couple’s home, but the officer who was present declined to comment, directing us to speak to a “Corporal Jno Baptiste” who he said went down into the village.

Subsequently, another officer emerged from a group of people standing across from the entrance of the police station, and in an unkind tone began to instruct the reporter to go speak to “(Claude) Weekes” – though the reporter never asked him anything. The said disrespectful officer questioned why the reporter visited the station seeking information. The officer was subsequently told to do his job (and get the killers).

DNO had tried unsuccessfully to reach Inspector Weekes, the police public relations officer, by phone, and attempted to get an update from the Soufriere police.

Dominica News Online will continue to update you as information becomes available.

Well when there is constant hatred and jealousy among people it always ends up like this. Forgiveness holds a strong hold in our lives… If the wife is reading this as well I would like her to forgive so God to reveal to the public so no one else can be confused anymore, forgive, I know it is hard especially now, please do not hold any grudges or hate for the rest of the family members that may not be with you, still continue what your husband started, still work for peace within the family, you are a william now and someone has to bring the family back together. God… again God is the creator of man and nothing is impossible for him to do. Stay strong, think positive and God will take care of the rest.

    One love people.

@Soufriere Resident: People stop pointing fingers, the crime done is a shame. Family fued should never end like this, only individuals with no fear for God do these things. I have no feelings for the accused ones in jail, however, I feel for the family of the acuse and the family of the deceased. My God has mercy on them. There is an old saying that the elderly in soufriere always use to talk about, in life we all will rip what we sow, how one makes his bed so he or she may lie in it. We need to always know that we shoud treat each other how we woule like others to treat us. I am not taking any sides our putting fingers, but a crime was done and it is shame less, from a beautiful and peaceful village like soufriere. The witness of the crime said what happen and that is all we have to go by for now, until February, the Lord will Prevail. God does not like ugly and the courts does not seek God in making their judgement, God is the rightfull ruler and the only one that can truly judge and he will punish the ones who committed this selfless crime. Friend and readers from Soufrier and every where else reading, please Pray for the family of everyone involved and ask God to shine light on the ones that may be confused about this whole ordeal, the truth will be spoken and it shall be reveal….only in God’s time, stop taking sides and putting fingers, pray, pray, pray….. To God be the Glory.

All curse can be broken. I hpe you all will seek PRAYER from GOd fearing men to BREAK that family CURSE>

to all of us who commment, especially those who pass judgement. take a minute to think back how many times we got angry with our own children when dey disobey. the profane languages that at slurged at them and the things thrown at them.

do we ever stop to think what if that object had really gotten that child?

well its not difficult to commit senseless crimes. ANGER is a sin. The Bible says, be angry and sin not.

wow! someone pinch me. i’m starting to wonder if i’m dreaming. is it really our island which have alll these killings.

i wonder what diagnosis will be said for these 3 to send them to the psychiastric ward.

@Lizavier4Jesus: Yes I think that you should continue to educate the persons who read DNO even if you have to be a little more brief.

I was reading the bible this morning and I would encourage every DNO reader reading this right now to read Mathew 12. This is the account where Jesus himself was speaking to the Pharisee and the other multitude of persons. Pray for wisdom before reading. Verse 36 clearly states ” But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account therof in the day of Judgement and 37 continues For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned”

People let us not heed the words of the Heavenly Father thru his son who was sent to die fo rus.
It is indeed very sad for what has happened to Harrison – a young man who employed ove 20 young persons in the community; These persons would probably be unemployed. He taught them to work from his talent which the Father had given to him to be shared. We are all indeed sad at the turn of events. But probably because I personally know these children ; I saw then grow up under whatever conditions; It is also heartbreaking for me regarding the sisters and the others who alegedly beat him and he died as a result. I know that they are also in turmoil. I am sure that they are asking questions right now… I should probably have done things differently.. Although it is too late .. Harrison is gone. But as I have said in many of my articles.. If you Love our Heavenly Father then it becomes easy to love other since he is love himself.. He sent his son to die for our sins .. What more beautiful and great love can this be. I cannot but help to think of them as well. Yes this was a very brutal thing to do. But who made me Judge and Jury. The only Judge is the Heavenly Father. He is the only one who will have mercy upon who he will have mercy. We cannot dictate to him.. Read the book of Jonah.. Short but a lesson in there to learn. We all have a wicked heart but it is only when we surrender to Our Father that he cleanses us and takes away our stony heart and replaces it with a heart of love

People please think of the Father this is not easy for him at all.. Think of the other Siblings … This is not easy for them either. Henderson and the others. Let us pray for the Families and all those who are affected by this terrible ordeal. Let us ask for his wisdom and foresight so we can do something to assist and prevent incidents of this from happenning in the future. Sometimes we see things and we can help but we prefer to turn a blind eyes and only speak negative on forums like this.

May the Blessings of the most High be with you all DNO Readers.. Let us think before we make comments… A lot of persons are hurting. Let us say things to lift them up and not make them feel worse of than they are.

    God be with you all.

    @Watcher

First of all, I am talking to you, Watcher, the believer in The Father, Almighty God, in the Person of Jesus Christ. And away with you, Watcher, the impostor. Yesterday I felt that I had, had enough with the hostility of a few commentators on DNO, and I thought that it would be better for me to stay away from DNO such hostility.

But today, Jesus spoke to me and He reminded me of the humiliation and shame that He suffered for me and for those hostile people. I believe that this inspiration came around the same time that you were writing to defend and encourage me.

I have decided that I will continue what I have to do, along with you, and for the glory of God, in Jesus Christ. With the strength of Love, Satan has no victory. So to the those with the attitude of hostility, and especially against me. I declare that Lizavier4Jesus has decided not to stop posting her opinions of the news articles on DNO. Watcher, please hang on there with me, okay! God needs us to do His work, in His people.

    @Ragador

As human beings who still exist in this world, we all look like we are alive. But Life is in the Spirit, and many, many, many, of us are spiritually dead. This means that we exist without the presence of God and His Love in our lives. In other words, many, many many of us are walking about with dead souls, as we continue to exist with the perishing nature of the flesh, the nature of Adam and Eve, when they chose to die through disobedience instead living with the obedience of God.

It is difficult for me to even think of those individuals who committed that vicious crime against their own flesh and blood, as human beings; much more for me to believe that they had what you described as a spiritual faculty. Oh no! They could not have known such nature, because it is the nature of Love, the core of God, a God of Holiness and Truth.

This is a classic case of a family who allow their animalistic instincts to predominate over their spiritual faculties. This is beyond anything that one can really comprehend. Some may think it’s the times we are now living in, while others can go back in biblical times and think of Cain and Abel.
The bottom line is a very sad day for all involved, to include the community. This kind of savagery should be condemned and not tollerated by any civilized society. The time is now to implement capital punishment, and send a strong message to all and would-be murderers. The murder rate just does not add-up for the population. Remember the buck stops at the top. Corrupt leaders, corrupt policemen, corrupt segment of the society, and that’s the way life goes.

  36. Watcher
    September 27, 2010

@watcher: “And the family members calling the radio station and crying and saying that the police are trying too influence the case. How did you all allow your own brother or sister to beat to death another brother of your own. What would have happened if it was an outsider?”

This is from the other Watcher. The above statement is from your statement above. Before you make statement like those you should find out more about the make up of the family. The sister who called the radio station was a half sister for your infomation. So to implicate tht she allowed your own brother or sister to beat to death another brother is wrong since you do not know about the family make up. This sister was never at the scene. So get your facts right before making any judgement.

Again people let us think of the family who are greiving before making wrong statements. If we do not know the facts, then keep quiet rather than making untruthful statements. We should pray and send our support to the members of family who are really and truly going through this rather difficult time also the other brothers / sisters of of Harrison on the mothers side and the Father and other brothers and sisters father side. Sympathy to all those affected Aunts – his Mother side – Neices and Nephews. and all the other members of the family on the father side as well. I know that Soufriere is in a state of grief and condolesences to all of you. May the Heavenly Father hold you in his everalsting arms. He and he alone can bring the comfort that you need in this time.

@Fed up with Lizavier4Jesus: Leave Liz alone… I read her articles. It is making a lot of sense that some of the negative and hate instigators like not to read.. You are free to your opinion but please do not attempt to deny another one of her opinion. Liz don’t be deterred .. I know you won’t … I do read your article and it gives me encouragement and know there are still caring persons who want the readers to seek comfort in the one and true Heavenly father.

Harrison RIP … My sincere condolescenses to Henry the father of Harrison. I cannot imagine how you are feeling … Even if I try to imagine.. People have you thought of this poor man who has the worst of all this? He is the Father of Harrison and the one of the other who allegedly beat him to death. People please be sensitive.. No man /Woman/ Family should be exposed to this but in all of this we cannot question the Heavenly Father. Having recently lost a young son myself, I cannot even put myself in Mr Williams shoes since I cannot as I have said imagine what he is going through at this moment. This is trauamatic but all I can say Lean on the Everlasting arms of the only one who can comfort him in this tragic moment. I cannot help but remember the incident in the book of Job where he lost all his children and all what he had. So I pray that our Good and Heavenly Father will put his arms around Henry and the other members of the Family especially the Wife and Children (who were witnesses to this act) at this moment and hold them strong. To the other members of the Family – Brothers, sisters, Wife, Neices, Nephews, Aunts, Uncle etc my condolescences to you all from all of us at home. I cannot really imagine how you feel but this has greatly affected me over the weekend and you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

May the Lord bless and comfort you at this time of your bereavement and mourning.

People love is one of the best ingredients to stop the madness that is happenning around us.. If we love the Heavenly Father, then love becomes secondary to us and we will not hate our brothers and sisters (We are all brothers and sisters to one another). The Enemy won’t attack us with his wickedness of wanting to use us to steal, kill and destroy. Let our love flow for one another by embracing Our Heavenly Father who sent his son to die for us. We will be tempted yes but when we look up to Our Father , he will keep us thru it all – the temptations.

Imagine family fighting against family! We can all see that the world is changing and prophecy is fulfilling. the bible talks about men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self assuming ,haughty, blaspheme, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection etc. We can see all what the bible talked about it’s happening.Dominica have the lowest crime rate in the caribbean which is 2% why can’t we keep it that way. Tourism which is our main industry after all what happening in dominica our tourism industry going to go down the drain. tourist will not be coming to ur laucious island anymore. Let us show the caribbean an example and keep it on a low. My sympathy goes out to the family of mr williams and continue to be strong and put your trust in the lord and he will protect you always…

Alot of people blaming the police, a friday night in Soufriere is a busy night, there must have been onlookers seeing what was going on, no one stepped in to say the man is in the gutter stop the beating. His own family did that to him. And people are blaming the police. What hypocricy. What blatent hypocricy. The villagers must have seen what was going on. They may have known about the issues. If you see a defenceless man being beaten to death you stand by and allow it to happen and then say the police did not do their job???Come on this is riduclous.

And the family members calling the radio station and crying and saying that the police are trying too influence the case. How did you all allow your own brother or sister to beat to death another brother of your own. What would have happened if it was an outsider?

If what I read is true then Why didn’t they leave the guy alone to live his life with his wife and kids? Was she taking bread out of their mouth that they felt if they could not benefit then the wife would not benefit? We need to know the real reason, it has to be deeper than that. You all hate the wife that much that you willing to kill your own flesh and blood? Nahhh, the man lying on the ground and you continuing to beat him down with a stick? In front of his wife and kids. Do they know what they have done to the kids,do they have an idea of how they have damaged the kids lives?

I seriously don’t get this, that there could have been an issue within a family and they thought that the best way to handle it was to kill the guy infront of his wife and kids. I wonder if someone from the outside had killed a family member of theirs would they have been willing to kill that outsider.

I knew Harrison (the deceased) by acquaintances pointing him out as a good builder. I saw him drove work men and materials in and outside the village on numerous occasions. He was a very hard working man, working 6 days a week. I actually met him in person 2 mths ago when he gave me a quote for a job. I found him to be a very pleasant young man but very shy. He advised me that this particular job would best be done after the rainy season in October. Unfortunately things have not turned out as planned.

I still cant put my head round tthis senseless death. I know the brother who alledgedly killed him. He is also a very hard working young man and infact did a job for me some 3 yrs ago. I also know the sisters and his wife. I heard the commotion and cries for the police from my veranda. I also heard the loud wailing when the sad news arrived from the hospital confirming his demise. I am ashamed to say that this tradegy would not have occurred had the police been on base and intervened. Please bear in mind the police station is literally one minute from the scene!!. If this does not warrant an urgent investigation then the law including the lawless are indeed asses.

We have lost a good role model in the community; he gave alot of young men in the parish job opportunities including the same family involved in his demise. I know that his legacy will continue as he has built a number of brilliant properties around Dominica.

It was my pleasure to have known you, Harrison. R.I.P, Harrison.

I noticed that many of us have all kinds of excuses for the high crime rate, and the great increase in murders these days. I think it is simply because they are not punished anymore. Bring back hanging and see what happens to the crime rate. One year, every single person who was tried for murder in Dominica walked, remember? Personally, if I am going to walk anyway, then I will take first chance, and not let the other person take first chance on me. LET US SEE THE CHANGE START IN THE COURTS. A magistrate tried to change things, and everybody started crying. The same set that crying about the crime rate was criticizing the man. HYPOCRITES.

Other than the police, Matt in the morning and the few of us on here blowing steam I have not heard the government’s side on the way forward to tackling this crime wave. we all know that crime is inevitable but a plan have to be put in place to curb excess.

Before some of jump on me saying you know we would blame the government, read my statement carefully. There seems to be anger and frustration among our people and it appears that they deal with it through violence. The root causes of this underlying anger affecting the cross section of our population is being driven by something that must be identified. Is is unemployment? Envy? Pressure pressure? What is it? Laws and enforcement is a vital part of the plan but cannot and will not curtail these incidences without additional programs. Again I ask, where is the PM and his minister of state security in all these killings? Someone (not the police) needs to tell the population something.

I know we have people in power who span the garmet from vowas, bi-products of abject poverty, financial cross overs/hybrids,drug dealers, leaping frogs jumping from Green stones to Red stones I know a few who have jumped from Red to Blue back to Red stone (a lawyer)business people on card without businesses, womanizers -even those who eat thighs and any flesh in between some have graduated from Backs and Necks to sucking breasts, opportunists ,some with Hubris Syndrome, low-hanging fruits farmers who sub specialize in one crop leafy at best but nor lettuce or cabbage, but not fruitcakes!

This gay person posting comments on here is a bit pathetic. I live in England where there’s gay in abundance n it will never be fully accepted everywhere. I mean blacks are still being victimised to this day right? I find it really pathetic that u decided to make someones murder About yourself when it wasn’t even an anti gay murder to start with. And as for gay people squeezing Dominicans, please. Grow up. U think that will make a homophobic person accept u or hate u more n then u would be in more danger of attack. I’m not homophobic but all you Dominicans need to mature a bit. Blessin to the family of the deceased. Let’s grow as a nation n stop talking rubbish. That would be a good start

keep thing in perspective here. This had nothing to do with economic situation. It is a family feud that has been going on forever, Jealous sisters who sit on their bums and don’t want to work, Harrison was a hardworking young man who pulled himself out of poverty and for that they never forgave him. There can BE ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE TO TAKE A LIFE, and in the presence of his family. they need to hang them all.

You hate the truth, huh….this is what happens when people wait for a man and a spook in the sky to save them and blame the devil for the actions of man. PEOPLE take initiative now, prayer and waiting for jesus to come ain’t gonna change a thing, how long has man been waiting for a savior to relieve us of this so called misery. The police department is at fault and most of all are the people who were watching and didnt feel like getting involved, didnt your so called Jesus say that we are all one family….so all the by-standers, witnesses who could have done something are guilty! PAY NOW!!!!! wicked people!…sheltering under the umbrella of christianity!

I met this fellow Harrison williams whenever i visited Soufriere Dominica to see my relatives. he was a very nice person. i admired the fact that he was a hard worker who gave back to his community.
Hearing of his death i am very shock. i was made to understand that one of his sisters who contributed to his death is my cousin. if she is guilty in this predicament i pray god give her a deserved punishment because this fellow did not deserve this. If he could have made such an accomplishment then they should have gotten up off their lazy asses and do the same not be be jealous of him. he has done so much for them and thats the thanks he getting. the lord will not allow this go down the way it did. i pray for Harrison wife and daughters in their time of bereavement. i hope that god gives them the strength to endure and percivere from this tragedy. he will be greatly missed.

I can’t believe what I am reading! I would bend over backwards to make my sister happy! I can’t believe a brother & sisters beat their own brother to death; this is unbelievable.
We need a prayer vigile in our little island; the devil is busy looking for souls & I rebuke him in the name of Jesus.
This gentle man has his young children; I can’t believe they “took him out” in their presence. I just can’t come to terms with things like that.
I Love my Country & we need to pray & rally together for a sane nation who has obviously lost its way.
Psychiatric help is a must! Begin @ the schools, community meetings & take it to the prisons.

I will continue visiting Dominica & nothing will stop me; thats my home & regardless of what’s going on thats where I find peace of mindl I Love my Country

This thing is starting to look like a joke now! So many people are losing their lives in such little time.. Dominicans this should be a wake up call to all of us. Change your hearts and make it right with the heavenly father.. The end of time is at hand! Ask your selves a question.
Although these crimes should be left to God to judge i really think that the death penalty should be implemented in these matters. It is unfair to have these persons lurking in our society and to maybe kill AGAIN. Do it for the better good. Protect the society.

My deepest condolences to the families who have lost members this year.

This is a very sad and unfortunate incident.
This guy was quiet and hard working.
    Sympathy to the family.
There needs to be another investigation re the incident…that of the police and the police station.
Is it true there were no officers at the station?., that there was no response to calls for help?. That one officer was drunk? It is a fact that there have been complaints about the disorganised and non helpful state of the Soufriere station. One villager was even trying to get a petition going.
Along with the murderers of Harrison the police should be investigated and disiciplined accordingly.

  128. Why?!

What is going on? Can family hate each other so much, that they would take out one of their own? This killing is so senseless. What could have been so bad that you could hate your brother so much that you would take his life. Wow, shame on you all.

I would have hoped to see him receiving some award for his work and his contribution to our community, employing quite a few people. Personally I would loved to have had him raise his girls.
I will miss him. And i know in my heart that it didn’t have to come to that. And while the others who are accused of doing the crime are also my cousins , I’d like to see justice served. No decent man should have to die that way.

Unless they don’t change the laws in Dominica this well not stop. You cannot send a man to jail for stealing food and have a murderer walk the streets. Not even to a 5 year old that makes sense. The guy from portsmouth was sending people to jail because they commit a crime. I was listening to my radio in my rental while i was in Dominica and i was ashame to hear some of the comments. Some of you were calling the radio station and making it sound like he commited the crimes. Unless it don’t happen to someone in power nothing will change.

its Simple the churches in Dominica have failed the Island of Commonwealth of Dominica
Badly……when did wrong doing become right in any part of society from the rank top to the corners of Dominica..

i think we all are wicked! we know better but cast a blind eye to everything if we were so God Fearing what happened on Decemeber 18th 2009!!

We pretend too much in this island and God has a way of dealing with the evil forces!
Dont we see Dominica has a VERY EVIL SPELL ON IT!!…

We have become a failed state because of greed and wicked folks only thinking for themselves!

they remendy is simple we need straight folks as many here on the island serve too masters..
so we need straight Godly folks…then we never a massive march through the cities of Roseau!!

Remember God has a way of hitting us indirectly….can someone please please tell the authorites who Govt please to listen to its citizens……we dont want to come like the part in Jamaica which went underground due evil doings…….

If we did fear God in this island it would show throughout the island but our top brass and many followers serve too masters….in the Day they call upon Jah,God Jehovah,,,in the evening they resort to the dark corners surpressing the Good and upholding evil modules poor standards breaking down of all the sectors just to please their own Good…what a shame.

We do hope someone, some grouping can be brave enough to stand up and call wrong doings wrong..and not casting a blind eye because NO MAN IS GOD in the planet earth!

It seems like we have forgot our spirtual upbringings to worship one man in Dominica!

WE DO NEED ACTION THE TALKING NEEDS TO STOP…WE NEED TO STOP THE EVIL FORCES WHO PREY FROM THE PAST EVIL DEALING TO GAIN SO CALL POWER!!

We deeply need a moral and spiritual renewal to help us meet the many problems we face. Convict us of sin. Help us to turn to You in repentance and faith. Set our feet on the path of Your righteousness and peace. We pray today for our nation’s leaders. Give them the wisdom to know what is right, and the courage to do it. You have said, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” May this be a new era for Dominica, as we humble ourselves and acknowledge You alone as our Savior and Lord. This we pray in Your holy name, Amen.

This is very unusual, as if something or someone is out for blood in DOminica. We can’t allow this to continue, we can’t afford to get accustom to killings in Dominica. What is the plan to take back our country? or should we just sit and wait for the next one to put a number by it. Dominica will not be like Jamaica, no way. It’s a shame all these deaths in such a short time, but before that it was relatively quiet, i.e that is just 4 murders in about 9 months. That’s WAy BETTER than most of our neighbours!

But this month of September has been real peculiar. Hopefully its just an off month and we continue being a peaceful nation afterwards.

But you’ve just have to wonder sometimes, I guess…

I know Dominicans are strangers to the truth these days but within me i do believe that the worse is yet to come, because to many of us living on this speck of sand called Dominica are hypocrites..When our leaders get engaged in criminal activities,we are swift to sweep in under the carpet as being irrelevant,so what do you all expect? When people of influence like the priests, the pastors, and leaders of all our institutions see and condone criminality,,what do you expect? ITS THE WRATH OF GOD FALLING ON US NOW..

Poor Dominica – At one point we were a God Fearing Country – All man wanted to be Righteous!!!!

Now we’re a Capitalist Country, Money is God, Love has gone out the window – No Compassion.

Everybody under STRESS – with BILLS upon BILLS and “No Relieve” in sight. Black man cannot handle this level of constant pressure. A man will Kill you now for “Stepping On His Toe”

———- We Papa Dondieu!!!! Sah Nou Fe – Ou Ka Abandoney Nou

1st – Please Mr. Skerrit – Bring back the Capital Punishment!!!!! Start Canning/Spanking all Youth and Adolescents who violate the law. Have a Medical Doctor evaluate their health, and recommend the number of strokes to be administered to their rear ends! (follow up with Indonesia Authorities to see how it’s done). Execute all murderers except the mental ill!

2nd – Mr PM – your primary focus should be to create jobs for the country to help relieve this Stress. Please Mr. PM elevate yourself above your personal selfish greed and live for DOMINCA. Brother you have the personality and the looks to Promote and Help Dominica grow – Please do it – History will reward you for it – and you will create a legacy BIGGER than our revered E.O. Leblanc – Thank You!

But right now – Something MUST be done to curb the tide and reverse this trend in our country. Dominica is not America – We cannot afford to house and feed large numbers of criminals in our prison system. It was not design for that – plus “Nou pa ne la ja – po sah”

Now under the same breath, I was proud in the way the authority handle the “Augustine Lady” case, by permitting her to attend the funeral – good looking out for the mentally ill – You see – there is still compassion there – way down under all this layers of stress!!!

Peace Dominica – “God Bless you and No Where Else”

A little night landing ceremony with no schedule flights from any airline as yet and already Dominica getting fast or should I say faster on crime.

Is what happening? Dominicans were just waiting for a little development to take place.

My God we doh yet have legit go-go clubs ,sex toys, adult TV channels, casinos, brothels, and stores that openly selling firearms and ammunitions and we want to take medals for worse Caribbean island where crime is concerned!!!!!

It is clear that we on a wave and that wave doh crest or reach its peak as yet.

If that is the trend and it is expected to get worse, best we forgo Independence street jump-up this year and seriously consider suspending Carnival celebrations for 2011 or have it end by 6:00 a.m. Trust me all man and their family that is victim now will want to hit back during these festive times.

I would even encourage LIME to forget Creole in d Park this year!!!!

We need a kneejerk reaction as well as a proactive approach to crime in Dominica. The whole society needs to be punished for not being our brothers keepers. We are not doing a good job at reporting crimes to the police. Many of us prefer to remain silent and adopt the posture of see and hear no evil except if is my household.

We need the telecoms stakeholders to setup crime hotlines where persons can send text , voice and pics of crime scenes to the police free of charge and without leaving a trace on persons phones.

We need to have owners of motor vehicles remove the very dark tints that are on most motor vehicles in Dominica with immediate effect.

We need to ban all sports jackets and rain coats that come with the hoods making it impossible to see the sides of persons face.

We need to give the police the authority to search any and everybody who has a shirt or long polo shirt out over their pants waist and those that having pants with wide width legs.

Persons carrying haversacks at festivities including carnival must be subjected to a search.

Vehicles on the road especially on weekends should be subjected to routine searches by the police

This is very disconcerting….the authorities need to step up and do more about this upsurge in crime. I couldn’t help but notice that the dead are all young people, people who should be contributing positively to their family and the country in general….that is an ominous sign.

Although this is no consolation, it appears that the crime wave is even more prevalent in neighboring islands…based on police and media reports, it appears Dominica is on the low end of the crime upsurge – i was just reading on a St Vincent news site that 4 people were murdered on the first weekend of this month alone. Lets not even talk about St Lucia. Again, this is no consolation, but be must continuously strive to improve our societal conditions – and the youth need jobs!

Let us intervene when we see quarrels stating ad talk to someone when we see anger in their eyes. Dominic does not need to be taken to the next level, we need to tke our island to the foot of the cross and ask God for His favour. it’s so easy to blame each other when this sort of evil unexpectedly come our way. Let’s just stop and ask ourselves these questions?. What could i have done to prevent this? What were the warning signs that i fail to see? What can i do in this situation? We have somewhat loss the respect for life. we need to value each other. Just where will i spent eternity if death should visit me? What sort of legacy will i leave behind? Dear God I ask you to heal the broken in heart and bind up their wounds; Mercifully look upon those who are at this time bereaved. Be near them in their sorrow, and let their sorrow draw them nearer unto you. Now that earthly joys and comfort fail, may the things unseen and eternal grow more real, more present, more full of meaning and power. Let your strength sustain their weakness; and your peace fill their minds with perfect trust in you; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

Times are difficult and only seem to be heading to the next level of difficulty. The people are stressed and over-worked for little reward while they get to see others enjoying monies and privileges that this country can’t seem to support. Frustrations are high. Morality is low and diminishing. The powers that be need to invest in the people of this country. We need to be more self- sustainable therefore creating employment for the people. We have too many idle hands here.
Our prisons and correctional systems and facilities do not include SELF BETTERMENT programs, so ironically we take minor criminals and send them for training to perfect their art. It’s a sad progression.
We need to promote and reward positively. We need to get to the root of the crime and criminals and not just arrest those on the surface. We need to preserve the nature of this island and our legacy as the friendliest people on earth.
    Peace & Love.

Reiterating the call for the government to send a terrifying message to potential murders and persons bent on commiting violence in Dominica. With these recent incidents, the government can no longer be quiet but needs to seriously look into the possibility of carrying out as soon as possible some executions on individuals convicted of murder

Execution by firing squad, lethal injection or hanging is urgently needed in order to send a message to violence prone individuals that if they take someone’s life, the state has every right to take theirs. The law today is no longer a matter of wrong vs right but is instead based on technicalities which can be exploited by some clever lawyers resulting in murderers escaping serious prison time for their offences. Hence individuals are not frightened about the consequences of their actions and do not hesitate to commit such horrible crimes.

Law abiding citizens have no right to be leaving in fear; the criminal elements of society are the ones who ought to be living and sleeping in utter fear and torment.

I could go on and on with another long comment, but I have just finished saying so much through the news article of the burial of that two little girls, I would just be repeating myself here. Still I feel that I must talk.

Someone suggested that prayers are what we need in Dominica; but I am wondering if these things are happening to us because we have been praying too long and too loud, only to hear God say: “These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me” Matthew 15: 8 My question is how sincere and clean are our prayers to God?

So many of us still exist with our carnal state of mind; but those of us who have managed to overcome that state of mind, have caused pride and self-righteousness to make us believe we are God, Himself; as we pass our own judgment back and forth against our fellow believers of God, in Jesus Christ.

The pastors of one church are saying that the people of another church are all sinners. One church post the title, “GOD” on the their Billboard and they claim to be the ONLY TRUE CHURCH. Another church does nothing but argue against God’s Word, while others are making a force about what day should be the Sabbath Day. But Jesus tells us that “the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath” Mark 2: 27

The majority of Christians view their relationship with God as a thing of religion, as if they do not know that the religious views of the Jewish people, which Jesus would not abide with, was the reason they did not accept Him as their Messiah.

We all claim to believe in God, but we do not know His true plan for our lives because we do not know Him. And so we spend two, three, and four hours once or twice a week in our different churches boasting about our selves, not boasting about God.

For the rest of the time we do our best to keep away from other fellow Christians, even our mothers and fathers, or people of God in general, because we decide that we are better than them. In the meantime tens of thousands of God’s people continue with weakness and ignorance of Him, as Satan takes that advantage to create havoc in our lives.

God, in Jesus Christ, wants to work through His chosen servants to cause the weak and ignorants to turn to Him, that He might begin the renewal of their minds, a means by which He transforms human beings to know Him and the Life of Love, in Spirit and in Truth–the core of His Holy Being. But those servants choose to do God’s work on their own terms, according to their human wisdom and philosophy; not according to God’s Will; not by the wisdom and teachings of His Holy Spirit. As they use man-made rules and regulations to try to bring people to God, they cause those people to further turn against God, a choice that eventually lead them into the traps of Satan.

I truly believe that some of us high and mighty, who go about declaring to be men and women of holiness and truth, will be accountable for the many people who continue to falter because of their ignorance of God and His Ways in Jesus Christ. For Jesus said that “there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last.” Luke 13: 30

Because of our self-righteous attitude, not wanting to join with those whom we view as sinners, just like the attitude of the Pharisees and the Sadducee of Jesus’ time on earth, many people continue to exist in their state of perish, with no faith, no hope, and no Love, which is Life itself. Anger, greed, jealousy, pride, hatefulness, frustration, confusion, doubt, and disappointment serve as their bedclothes at night–pillow, blanket, bed cover, pyjamas, and nighties.

Temptation, to demonstrate what they sleep with in the night, is their first cup of coffee in the morning. They continue with that feeding for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack. So just before supper time, they are ready to vomit futility–the wicked and evil conducts and attitude that they ingested and digested all day long. The wives, husbands, children, brothers, sisters, and close friends are most likely to be the ones on whom they spill that stenchy vomit.

It is true that prayer is what we need in Dominica, but sincere repentance must happen first. God wants to hear us speak to Him about the concerns in our lives, our loved ones, and all people around us. He is a God of mercy and compassion, who has promised us the Life of Love, with the abundance of His Grace. But we will have to turn away from our pride, our selfishness, and our heart of self-righteousness–the attitude that tells us we have the power to do God’s work–not allowing Him to do this work through us.

The killing and all those other crimes that have now plagued Dominica, can pass away. But if we declare ourselves to be a people with Godly reverend fear, we will have to practice to demonstrate that attitude through the Fruits of the Tree Life, which is Love, in us. Those Fruits are Joy, Peace, Kindness, Goodness, Patience, Endurance, Humility, and most of all, Self-control. It is only when we have a heart that is flourished with these natures, that God can work through us to bring to salvation, those who are perishing.

allu does do like is dominica alone that have crime. and @nits, God never turns his back on his people. its the people who turn their backs on him. its nothing in the water, its nothing in the air, is not the government, its not our parents. seems to me the perps and victims in most of these cases think they too macho to back down from an altercation and look at the end result. and then of course there is the psycho B who killed her kids. the devil comes in all kinds of forms and shapes and we need to keep praying to the lord every day for his guidance and protection. whether or not u looking for trouble it always finds you. we need to put God first in our lives again. then maybe we will have a few more of these tragedies

  251. ??????????
    September 25, 2010

ppl relax, its the circle of life, the only two innocent victims are the two lil girls……ppl are just acting out their non human like instinct. yes its sad to see and hear someone died by the hands of another person, but thats life…….life is not just based on humans alone. animals, plants and all other living things go thru the same trials and tribulations of the own kind. example. certain animals kill their new born or young, others fight and kill for Territory or even to mate with a female or male. 5 murders in less than ten days for a small country is by any standard a lot. personally that to much. but thats just the cycle of life. some die naturally, some thru accidents, some thru the hands of man. either way death is going to happen.

question – where is the safest place on earth to live?????????

    September 25, 2010

but i find dno exaggerating too eh, how allu can count a murder that didnt take place this year. any who the crime hasnt risen from last year, and before this month it was relatively low. so all those screaming what happening to D.ca please realise this is simple journalism.

This situation is getting me really scared to seek news about DA lately.
It seems like a evil spirit of violence, murder and death is roaming our highways and byways.
DA we need to repent, turn back to God in truth and spirit. Drop the party spirit, and put on
the armors of God. Learn to love as we should and live a life pleasing and acceptable to HIM.

I pray my small island will regain its Christian consciousness and be authentic about it.
    God bless

when our leaders walk hand in hand with evil ,greed, self empowerment and enrichment and we sit idly by ,when we sit and watch the injustices of our leaders prevail…then we are doomed even before we know it..

    2 Corintians chapter 7 verse 14

“If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.”
