Stabbing in Newtown

The injured man being assisted by emergency personnel

There has been a stabbing in Newtown in which a man was severely injured.

The incident occurred early Tuesday afternoon.

Residents told Dominica News Online that the man was stabbed several times in the stomach area .

They also told DNO that the man allegedly stole drugs from some men in an area known as Montego Bay and the attack could have been in retaliation.

The vehicle of a passing motorist was also damaged during the melee.

The man has been taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital and his condition is said to be serious.

wake up Dominicans don’t spoil a beautiful island god bless us with.

  2. August 7, 2013

I am born and bred in Newtown and I find that newtown is spoil at present and some of the people who lives there are not from newtown. When I know Newtown , my place of birth the place was a very nice place. I used to we used to go for mangoes, tama weh dazen and other fruits and eat, every Thursday nights and sundays we used to go to church and the youts used to go in the sea and bathe till afternoon time. We had lots of respect for others and grown up but today my beautiful home becomes a place of drughive, thieving murder and violent society. I would like my place of birth to become the beautiful place it used to be .

  3. January 24, 2013

It hurt me to hear my beautiful country is turning around but in the wrong.I understand the police quad going to all the villages and harassing young men for a joint and can’t try to stop what going on in newtown.

  4. January 24, 2013

I’ve seen some comments about the way the they helping the injured guy, are the one’s in office seeing these pics and trying to address them.

JAH i Yai yai Newtown encore hARLEM…and that place is under a drugs siege and no one seems to care…prostitution is also the order of the day and high levels of criminal activity ( on the high seas and /Gwada/Vinci etc etc )and AIDS/HIV does exist.

There is a big BOMB waiting to explode in Newtown any time from now. When I pass on my vehicle ( bus or private transport) ) one can sense the violence of the faces of this obviously tormented Newtown youths. The are always by the road and in the corners and by the bay smoking weed/crack openingly and involving in other forms of illegality. When there is a Football match by the Newtown Savannah its to see so many of them dealing drugs and smoking their stuff in broad viwe of everyone…even very young boyz and girls are into this in Newtown. I have been all over Da and trust me NEWTOWN IS D DRUG CAPITAL OF DOMINICA. So many of dem have died and so many are paro and so many of them are STOCKFARM and yet still no one cares. A community that has produced so many “BRAINS” and still is struggling to cure its many problems.
Dont you know that everyday their seems to be some drug issue in Newtown? If you take a look at the Newtown Bay……………huh….the evidence is clear!!!! So many boats on the sea and no fishing is done ( I hope you understand ). Great Footballers turn Paro and Great Footballers turn modern day SEA PIRATES and ZOMBIES etc. 2k12 ended with some Newtown college student charged in a brutal murder of a cultural icon Mavelyn Robinson and now look at how 2k13 has started …is this signs of things to come ? I hope not !Let us pray let us pray !
LETS SAY A PRAYER FOR MONTEGO BAY !
PLEASE STOP THE BLOODSHED IN NEWTOWN !

MontegoBay – I appreciate your sentiments, and with all that’s been said by you what do you propose. The problem is that we all can point out the issues but cannot or refuse to put forth a suggestion to rectify the problem. If you are not willing to help solve the problems and only comment on it you too my dear are a part of the problem. Why not one day stop and speak to one of the youths you see going astray, just talking to someone may make a whole lot of difference. That one person/child may not be on drugs but may be hungry; hunger sometimes looks like desperation or anger. Remember hunger manifests pain, and anger is a manifestation of pain. So before you judge make it a point to know the story and if you are not willing to help keep your mouth shut. For decades we as a nation or community would rather talk negatively about someone instead of helping that person. So the next time you drive through on your private or public transport; or are watching a soccer game in Harlem Newtown ask yourself what can I do to make a difference instead of waiting for the bomb to explode. Should you choose not to make a difference you too may fall victim to the explosion, so be mindful of what you say and put your lot in life, which is apparently better than some in Newtown/Harlem to good use and help make a difference, if you are not able to do so physically, then provide some suggestions.

i agree with cutie cause im also from newtown. ppl label it as a bad place due to what outsiders are doing. Still, im not ashamed to say im from Newtown since i have first hand experience that the villagers stickup for each other against outside attacks though they may have their differences. NEWTOWN IS NOT THE DRUG CAPITAL OF DA.

  9. blame
    January 8, 2013

Adam blame Eve, Eve blame the serpent. Where are the two words. ‘Personal Responsibility.’ Choices we make in life has positive or destructive consequences. No body can save or change anyone, unless the individual realizes they have a problem. Government, Pastors, Priest, teacher. They could help so much. The people or person has to make up their mind to change. When they are really ready, with the help of other professionals in society they will change. The only thing that has to continue is just not to compromise with criminals, they will take u down with them. There are also two words “Tough Love”. Some people you have to make them feel, for them to hear or learn. Society has to stick together, for criminals to learn. Else they will run you down and out. Don’t let Satan win.

This is just senseless. The youth who are unemployed should really try to get to farming the land. I am sure that a living can be made through farming and that can keep people focused and out of trouble. That’s what most of our parents did for a living and that’s how they provided for their families in those days.
The more idle one is the more likely one is to get into trouble. It also seems that we have lost respect for each other and can’t settle an argument peacefully anymore. A lot of this behaviour stems from the mass media that’s now so easily available. We must try hard to be the peaceful nation that we once were or else we will all perish along the way.

  12. Huh!!
    January 8, 2013

On a very serious note, you mean in 2013 we still have fireman just coming to give people ride to the hospital? Man, if is just to get to the hospital, any man jack can do that. I remember the former police chief Carette on the media saying to the general public, do not touch people who have been injured, leave it to trained personnel. What are they trained in? Look at the position of the man as he is being lifted! He is being lifted by his shirt!! Magway sah!!

Can someone please train at least one EMS personnel or send an emergency room nurse to the scene? Is that too much to ask? Not a stretcher, not a neck brace, not even some gauze and plaster? No man!! Come better than that.

I find so many of those comments to be ridiculous and farfetched. What is happening in Dominica is no different from any other country. As a matter of fact, Dominica is a much safer and placid place than many countries in the world. Do we know the United States of America is the scariest place to live. Due to our size, everything that happens is magnified therefore; it looks like we are having crimes occurring at an alarming rate, but this not true.
All those things that are happening are happening because we have a high rate of employment, thieves, criminals, killers, drug dealers, prostitutes, and drug users. All those who take part in this kind of behavior will be a menace to society. How the law deal with their transgressions is what is most important to the families that are directly affected by their actions. The only way that we are going to have control over crime is for the laws to change. There need to be stiffer consequences for all kinds of crimes. Also, more people must be willing to change the culture of poverty and unemployment by creating hope and making dreams come alive through education and employment.

Man Dominica the island is under a Spell..

They should never have renamed those mountains…

The Flood gates are even opening wider now..

I think Dominicans need to wake up from their Sleep..

They are extremely under developed the Poorest in The Eastern Caribbean the Morale Fabric of their Society has eroded, due to lack of Leadership Across the Board in Dominica..

Many have sold their souls for a few cuppas of Fake Gold and Silver, and left the Island Bleeding

Dominica is at it’s worst stage since i have known It…..Blames lies Directly on the Masses who Refuse to take action!

Dominicans on a whole Pretend too Much!!
