Calibishie man fined for cocaine possession

Court gavelGrant Telemacque, 37, of Calibishie was fined $3,000 for possession of cocaine with intent to supply to another when he appeared before a Roseau Magistrate’s Court last week.

According to reports the cocaine, which weighed four grams, was found in his possession in Calibishie on July 9 during a search of his home.

The search was executed with a search warrant and Telemacque was asked whether he had any illegal drugs in his possession.

“No, if you find drugs in my house send me jail for ten years,” he responded.

While searching the living room, the police discovered a brown and black bag which contained foil wrappings in a Ziploc bag.

When opened, the illegal substance was reportedly found.

“Rock that there …I get it in the side of the street when I was going in my garden,” Telemacque said in explanation.

He was then arrested and transported to the Roseau Police Station.

Attorney Peter Alleyne, who represented Telemacque, told the court that his client did not give the police any difficulties and did not deny the bag belonged to him.

“He has not wasted the court’s time … give him some time to learn his lesson,” Alleyne stated.

But magistrate Bernard Pacquette argued that cocaine is the cause of the increased number of “Paros” on the island’s streets.

“When you decide to sell drugs, put money aside for when you get caught,” he stated.

Telemacque was ordered to pay $1,000 from the $3,000 fine forthwith, or if he fails to do so, spend three months in prison.

The remaining $2,000 has to be paid by October 10, 2014, or in default, six months behind bars.

The magistrate encouraging the sale of the drugs, his words are “When you decide to sell drugs, put money aside for when you get caught,” his words should be don’t sell and you won’t get sent to prison.

If you find drugs send me to ten years. You have incriminated yourself and sealed your sentence for 10 years imprisonment.
Rock that there. I get it in the side of the street.
He boldly lied to the police. You think you could easily deceive the police? The magistrate was lenient with you.

So is marijuana that is getting the heavy fines. The man denied having drugs and ben went on to say jail him for 10 yars if they find any. When they found, he had the audacity to say it’s rock.

3,000$ is no fine what so ever for suchan offence. Mr lucky papa.

Yes, I am sure he is one of my cousins, all he need to do is remove the “C” from his name. You see in a country where the mind remains idle anything like that is likely, there are no job opportunity’s. People are born in Dominica, and die, never finding a job, never employed for gain, what are those people supposed to do?

There are people born in Dominica who has never seen a dentist, nor a dental hygienist, if you do not believe me, the first five people you walk bay today look into their mouth, you will discover many of them are missing all of their teeth, and those who have not lost them all are walking around with residue of food, and cavities.

I am not looking down on such people, but a lack of money contributes to such conditions.

It is one thing for Pacquett or any magistrate to sit and make stupid comments as to whatever he stated in patios that I do not understand considering I am not a patios boy, since in Wesley our vocabulary is exclusively English.

In a country where the citizens are unable to make a living by gainful employment, since there are no jobs, when they see ministers of government, and other civil servants, and some private citizens owning so many different houses, driving the most expensive motor vehicles, knowing well these people salaries cannot afford their wealth, the poor boy and girl who requires the same is likely to turn to crime in order to get money to be in a position to obtain the same thing.

It is one thing to make the claims that the drug dealers are messing up peoples children; but if the children refuse to indulged in drugs, and not buy the drug dealers products they would not get messed up. Personally, I have never smoked a joint in my entire life! On the other hand when a child sees their parents sniffing cocaine, and smoking marijuana, how can that same parents tell their child, or children “don’t do that it is bad for you?”

I have never seen cocaine, nor crack cocaine, and the reason is I had no interest in such things, anything that is mind altering, only an idiot would get involve in that. It important to note that the drug dealers themselves seldom use drugs they sell!

Always remember if the government want to stop the flow of illegal drugs such a cocaine, into the country they can stop it, it will be more difficult to stop marijuana, since that is grown locally.

The magistrate should charge him more because they are the ones messing up people’s children with cocaine.
