A calypsonian, who was a finalist in the 2013 national competition, has been arrested on alleged drug charges.
The man was taken into custody on suspicion of cocaine possession on Wednesday, the police said.
As of Thursday morning, no charges had been laid against the calypsonian and hence his name cannot be published.
The police also said he will be making a court appearance on Friday where the charges will be formally read.
DNO understands that after he was arrested, the man was taken to hospital under police guard when he complained of being unwell.
DNO will continue to monitor this story.

Sad… reading through some of these comments and it struck me how insensitive and heartless people appear to be in this age of social media craze. It appears that anything and everything goes these days.
We tend to forget that we are talking about somebody’s daughter, son, father, mother, sister, brother or maybe your neighbour or the person. We just don’t seem to care for our fellow men anymore. I never seem to understand that when a person commits a crime that their names are witheld. If they are in police custody, was in police custody, or even a suspect, then publish their names. They wrong to be in the wrong place at the right or wrong time.
