Charges against Williams dropped in Giraudel murder case

Williams blocks his face at the court house in Roseau while handcuffed to Lewis

Titus Williams who was accused of conspiracy to murder Marvlyn Robinson has been released.

Dominica News Online has been informed that  the charges were dropped against Williams since further investigations revealed that Williams was not involved in the Independence day murder.

Clarence Lewis of Newtown has been charged with the murder.

Joseph also told Dominica News Online that investigations into the matter are continuing.

Robinson was murdered at her residence in Giraudel on November 3rd, 2012

And he needs to sue the damn police because they should have done their further investigations before they decided to charge the young man and even bring before the courts…now the name Titus Williams is forever linked to the murder of an elderly lady…if you google the young man’s name now the article about he murder comes up…now the young man’s reputation is tarnished…he needs to sue them for malicious prosecutions and his family needs to stand behind him…my cousin was shot by Lindon Lestrade and up to now the PI cannot get on the way…because Titus Williams is a poor person child all yuh done handcuff him and bring him into the system!!! Wicked set of people!

Do the Police Force have lie detectors? Aside from DNA, do they take fingerprints and footprints? Those are important elements when investigating and solving crimes. You know, “Who done it” and who is the accomplice.
The police could have taken those prints on the steps, lawn where he (they) walked door, outside and inside the home. Voila! The perpetrator and accomplice(s) would be caught, arrested and charged.
They could also take prints of a vehicle tires if possible, on the lawn or on the street.
Police Force, if you do not have those important paraphernalia I suggest that the DPP, the government purchase them. Your work life, job responsibilities and investigations would be made easier.

He is guilty. If he knew about the impending attack and chose to do nothing, he is guilty. What self respecting boy who calls himself a man would aide in the murder of an elderly lady? She was my aunt. It’s sad that the judicial system is so antiquated that this man can actually walk free. He hides his face in shame. He is just as guilty as the sociopath who did the deed. A poor excuse for a man, and a poor excuse of police work. A man was allowed to antagonize a woman until her early demise, and this is your trusted government? “The best in the Caribbean?” This is where your funding is going? To a government similar to a naive child? What police investigations were done? Perusing the crime scene and jumping to conclusions? By god, the woman knew her attackers. This violent crime happened and this man knew about it. I am saddened that Dominica the nature island is still in the dark ages. The nerve to have antidrug treaties with the US, but you cannot protect your own people? The medical system is a sham and abhorrent. How can anyone be content with this?

I wonder about the police investigation pertaining to Williams. Maybe the police should be investigated as to the reason why his case was dropped. You know what I mean. I would like to first of all,on behalf of my family apologize to the family of Ms. Richards on the passing of their loved one. I pray that your family seeks comfort in the Lord. We did and our prayers were answered.

I also sympathize with the family of the young man whose family is facing and dealing with this uncomfortable situation.

With that being said, I would like to say to ALL the people who posted comments whether damning or not thank you.

Thank you for first of all proving that no one is perfect and we make mistakes in our lives. All of you who painted a nasty picture of Mr. Williams I do hope you realize that he was not guilty and that you all did a better job at condemning the young man than the police. The police did not say to drag him or hang him, You did.

Thanks to you the name of a young man has been tarnished forever as a result of this major blunder. He will be always be associated with this crime. I don’t see a whole lot of comments apologizing to the persons directly involved. But one thing we know how to do is take a story true or not and run with it. 35 comments to the 200 and something is a vast difference and tells a story of a people who would rather ridicule and hate.

The past week has been a life transforming for my family. And one thing i learned out of all this is you never know how tragedy feels until it hits home. But among all the people who were wishing bad, there were those who believed in my brother’s innocence and stood by my family. Their comforting words kept us mobilized to ensure that the right thing was done. So we would like to say thank you.

I don’t wish this on anybody because the pain is unbearable and i feel for the families involved. Please people, I know our emotions get the best of us sometimes, but let us remember that people get hurt in the process.

Death by hanging was called for an innocent man. What if he was hanged? His tears and those of his family would be left with you. Ponder on that. The law we are supposed to believe in says “a man is innocent until proven guilty.”

    Merci……..

What if this boy was being hang for his innocense s. What would they tell his parents? No one is perfect and no one should judge anyone.. Many people has lost their lives because of careless policemen and false witnesses. No wonder so many policemen cannot even stay in the police force for as long as they would like too because too many things are happening and no one is putting a stop to it. Dominicans think for a moment. Every day the innocence project in the US is freeing people who were wrongly convicted of crimes even when the district attorney and prosecutors had the evidence exonerating these people. Egos kicked in and many of these people spent the most productive years of their lives for crimes they didn’t commit. It easy to say why your name called, however often times people implicate others in crimes out of fear and malice.

If the evidence shows the young man is not involved why should he be lynched and still be imprisoned or caused further distress? I’m angry at what happened but the right persons must pay for the crime not some innocent person because “we want to see somebody pay”. How would you all like it if this young man were your family member? We can’t be heartless or we are no better than the one(s) who carried out this crime. Let the police do thier work, because in our rush to judgement we ourselves are predjudicing the case and then when the dust settles and lawsuits against the state starts flying we will say the police blah blah

So what? Does this exonerate one who is involved in a crime or who kept company with one who murdered? It is nothing unusual that some children from good parents get involved in criminal activities. Some of them came from affluent homes as doctors and lawyers, etc.
I never put my hand in fire for anyone. Some people tell too many lies and keep lying their way through life.
There are many parents who are shedding tears for their children. Some of them brought them up respectably and in godliness but they turned their backs on godly nurturing and to a life of crime. What you stated is nothing exceptional. Adults should be smart enough to know that.

People saying he must sue the police that is so dumb! I doubt very much the police just randomly picked him out of nothing. Obviously there were suspicous facts surrounding him hence the arrest. If he was abused while in custody abolsutely sue and of course its an awful thing to be accused falsley but the police cannot operate efficiently if they will be sued everytime an innocent person is arrested because they will end up not arresting the guilty for fear they are wrong and are sued.

More importantly he was released pretty quickly which indicates the police are actively investigating this heinous crime and I can well imagine the unbelievable degree of pressure they are working under to solve this crime quickly. Mistakes will happen.

Justice is the goal and there will always be some collateral damage. I’m not even sure the system allows for a lawsuit in this case and correctly so.

Hopefully he will assist the police in any way he can to ensure the evil ones rot in prison for the rest of their stinking lives!

The murderer resides in Newtown. He found his way to Giraudel. In the dark of night he went to the victim’s home. She was asleep. He entered the home by whatever means and beat her up to the point she died. Who drove him to Giraudel and to her house? Who drove him back to Newtown? Ask yourself those questions. I am certain that the police did not arrest Williams in vain. They do need to conduct a thorough investigation. The murderer can assist them and is the one who knows who was his accomplice.

I do not think he was picked out of the blue. I think he was somewhat involved. He had to be there even if he did not contribute to the stabbing. People do not just give random names just to have an accomplice. I think wether you participate or not if you are present and did nothing to stop or prevent such action, you are just as GUILTY. I wonder why he was released before investigation was complete. Could it be because DNO got so many empathy posts suggesting how much of a nice and quiet individual he is/was. No one walks around with a plaque that reads “I AM CAPABLE OF ANYTHING” “I FOOLED YOU!”

There must be a reason why they picked him up. There is no smoke without fire. He must be the friend of the other one. Who knows? They could have been together that day and night. They are very good at telling lies, also thanks to their lawyers and false witnesses who tell lies. The investigation is continuing and we will hear more. I would not put my hand in fire for none of them. Sensible people should know that since they were not present to witness what occurred, they should not state that he is innocent and that they knew he was innocent. It is foolish to make such a statement. I would prefer waiting for the end and result of the investigation when the police will present their case in Court and thereafter. This is what you should do. There are times upon investigation suspects are deemed to be innocent and released only to be re-arrested later. This is something you should think of.

If indeed he was not anywhere near the crime or was not involved in any way, shape, or form, I am happy that he was released; no one deserves to be falsely accused. It is truly a relief for himself and his family. However, if he is/was a part of the lady’s demise he will be picked up again.

    • Justice and Truth
      November 13, 2012

This is an excellent and intelligent question. You have reason to question his release. So do I. We are not so gullible to believe that he is really innocent.
If he was the driver, there is no doubt the murderer is his friend and that he knew about the case of theft which is before the Court and would soon be heard.
They must have had some sort of conversation about going to the victim’s home in the dark of night and driving the murderer there. Surely, he is not innocent. Why would he have driven him there knowing that his friend, the murderer is either not a friend of the victim or no longer a friend due to the fact he robbed her of her jewelry and whatever else.
He, the driver, should have questioned him as to why he wants to go to the home and advised him against it. The fact that he drove him there, he should be considered an accomplice to a crime/murder, even though he did not actually commit the murder. He knew the intent of the murderer to enter the home in the dark of night. It was either to steal or murder. Nevertheless, he could have been witness to the wicked action of the murderer. Therefore he should be considered involved in aiding and abetting and also doing nothing to prevent his friend from breaking and entering her home, harming and murdering her. It was his duty to do his utmost to prevent him from going to the home. Did he do that? We are all each other’s keepers. I like to add, to a certain extent. He should be charged for a lesser crime. I am at a loss why he was arrested and now released. Time will tell.

I blame DNO because they should not be postiing anything that pertains to a case that has not been heard. This is a form of technicality that could be established by the defense stating that his client was already publicly convivted who are members of the jury. You all so clever.

    • November 12, 2012

What did DNO publish that was a form of technicality? A crime was committed, it is clear that one of more persons were involved, the deceased was alive long enough to identify one of the assailants, I would assume that individual named his accomplice. Is it not what news is all about? It is true that the media gives too much information too soon, but if certain information is not released do you not believe it will take longer to accomplish their goal, which is to bring about justice for the deceased and her family?

    • Justice and Truth
      November 13, 2012

      @ watchdog

What do you know about posting and broadcasting the news? It is obvious to me that you know nothing. A crime/murder was committed. DNO received the news. DNO, as the Media has the right to do so based on what they are aware of. You should be charged for accusing DNO of what they are not guilty of. Furthermore, DNO did not accuse them of the crime. Some of you make statements without thinking. You must think before you make such statements. If your thoughts are slow, take the time to think for some minutes or hours.
From the moment all Media hear about events which occurred, they reserve the right to broadcast and post them.
DNO states that when additional information is received, it will be posted, for the benefit of nationals, no exception yourself. Be appreciative. If DNO did not post it you would have something else to say. As the saying, darned if I do and darned if I don’t.

Are you aware that her fiance was murdered prior to their wedding? She said so on her show. She is passionate about her job. She is good at it. Dominica needs someone as Nancy Grace. Many cases would be solved quickly. It is because of her program why some of the cases are solved. She is a no nonsense person.

It would have been a good idea. Save the government, Court and taxpayers money also for lawyers’ exorbitant fees. Everyone who heard and knows about this story knows that he is guilty like Hell. Unfortunately in a democratic country, criminals are considered suspects until they are proven guilty and are given the right to defend themselves. This is why some of them are bailed out and others are acquitted, even for murder.
If he resided in a non-democratic country, he would have been dead already. You know that those countries are intolerant of criminals. The punishment is swift.
This is why they are taking advantage of the government and the Court system and are also committing heinous crimes/murders. They think that they will escape punishment and imprisonment. It is time for a change in the Court System.

Can you read his mind? Are you always with him at every moment of his life? You are not too smart.
You can see a person and that person could be sitting near you, do you know what is going on in that person’s mind. This is why we are surprised and shocked when we hear of certain occurrences committed by people whom we never suspected would do such a thing. It happens all the time. If you are living on this earth, surely you should know that. You as some others who make such a statement just do not think and are not broadminded. There is always a possibility that he could be guilty otherwise, if not of murder. He knows but primarily only God knows if he is guilty or not. No human being can make such a judgment and be correct about it.
When you go about your business and are sleeping do you know what he is doing? Do you know who he is speaking to on the telephone? Do you know what he is planning to and with whom? People have secrets and some very wicked ones. Do not let a quiet, soft spoken, smiling, laughing and joking demeanor deceive you. Only take him at face value for you cannot read his thoughts. Satan disguises himself as a prince of goodness. Give this a thought.
There is a saying, “Keep calm and unruffled on the surface but paddle like hell underneath.” This should indicate to you who knows what that man is like underneath as you are defending him and are certain of his innocence. Being released does not mean that he is guilty. What would some people not do and say to protect their hide.

Ma’am, the police did not cause the whole country to call him a murderer. In the process of doing their job he was “suspected”; but, as they investigation progressed they found out the truth. Sometimes this happens as part of a criminal investigation. It is Dominicans who are quick to open their big mouths before trying to understand anyting. They don’t like to listen, process, understand and conclude. They believe everything they hear and from the onset cast judgments. @ why

What you state is not true. The whole country did not call him a murderer. He was only arrested as an accomplice. The case was not yet called. Therefore put on your thinking cap and do not be so narrow-minded. Keep in mind that all charges are dropped only for now while the investigation is still ongoing. This is not the end. He better not rejoice nor should people as you rejoice and state that the police should be sued. Wait until the end of the investigation which, no doubt, will take quite a while.

And for the record, there ARE convicted murderers walking around Dominica FREE like you and I. Justice must be done.
I wonder if you would be so quick to talk if it was your mother, wife, sister or daughter, relative or friend who had been so brutally murdered? Let us see if another ‘suspected’ murderer will walk. Ms. Robinson’s voice will reach him from the grave. Ingrate.

In essence what people are saying is that once he is proven guilty he should be hanged. Were it your family murdered, as soon as u hear the police arest somebody you would say hang him or put him in security block and throw away the key deep in the ocean. So that is people, they are not judging the man by his name but they are condemning the act which is fairly normal. Mark you I know none of these people but it is just my observation.
