Christmas 2014 not “absolutely peaceful” – police

Christmas CrimePolice Public Relations (PRO) Acting Superintendent Claude Weekes has described Christmas holidays this year as “not absolutely peaceful.”

However, he said during an interview with Dominica News Online (DNO) on Monday, that no fatalities were reported.

“I would deem it not absolutely peaceful…there were no fatalities in terms of accidents and so on…I would say obviously that it could be better because there were a few stabbings here and there by youngsters,” Mr. Weekes explained.

According to him, “crime is crime whether minor or major.”

In fact, he said a few people who were arrested for committing minor crimes during the holidays will appear at the Magistrate’s Court today.

Meantime, Mr. Weekes stated that people were educated and this helped them to cooperate and, “seek to understand that Christmas is a time for sharing and giving.”

Please can Mr Weekes let us know what is happening to the four policemen and one police woman who beat up a man so badly while in their custody that he died???????????? Please Mr Weekes let the people of Dominica know that if anyone is detained by the police that they are going to be safe in police custody? What exactly has happened to those policemen? Are they still working? Are they on bail? Are they going to be charged with unlawful killing of a person? The election came along just in time to stop the publicity of this case????????????? I think the people of Dominica need to know they are safe here and not be frightened of the police. This is not going to be conveniently forgotten or ever forgiven.

There is no such thing “As the Christmas spirit”. Christmas has become all about commercialism. Sadly Love and Peace is disappearing from society.

All over the world it has become too commercialized. They need to put Christ back into Christmas. Some call it mere holidays, to suit non-Christians.
Earlier tonight, I had such a discussion with a friend. I went to a store at a Mall and a Muslim man, a clerk wished me happy holidays. I told him I am a Catholic Christian and we celebrate Christmas. It is Merry Christmas or Blessed Christmas. He responded, not everyone celebrates it. I told him it is not a Muslim holiday. It is the birthday of Jesus Christ that we celebrate. Therefore it is called Christmas. After I told him that, he wished me (probably reluctantly) “Merry Christmas”
There are still some people, the holy ones who have the true Christmas Spirit. This means, going to Holy Mass and celebrating Christmas with family and friends as some of us do.
Christmas means CHRIST-MASS. Jesus is the reason for this Season. We must do our utmost to keep Christ in Christmas. It commences with the heart.

Thank you for the ‘update’. More to the point, can you update us on a few other cases that come to mind, i.e. the recent fire at the airport, the missing jevelery at customs or the GON Emanuel Fire? I guess not! Has the PM been interviewed in the airport fire case as yet, since he publicly stated he knew who is responsible for that? I guess not! I’ll leave it at that and let every citizen make up their own mind about the Dominican Police Force. My personal opinion, for what it’s worth, your are NOT fit for purpose as you neither operate independently from government nor are you impartial.

How very interesting: when I first read about the fire at the airport, I wrote something in which I alleged I know who is the arsonist; I pointed my finger at a certain man who is the head of a certain thing, like a party; perhaps a political party!

      Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah,

Not the El, Presidente; the other big dog, in fact the nation biggest hound dog, the one who is a little dictator.

DNO did not approve my comments for publication. Now I am reading here that Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit claims he knows who is responsible for setting the fire. I do not believe for one second Skerrit would have information which could lead to the capture, arrest, and conviction of the culprit, and not have him/her arrested simply to add a feather to his graduating cap as an English Major for none graduates, or people who cannot graduate.

If we wait long enough the truth is usually told: The fire is suspicious, that in my opinion was an arranged crime, to be used as a cheap political ploy to solicist the sympathy of the voting public. He may actually know in truth the arsonist, since birds of a feather usually flocked together. However, one who is know to be a compulsive, pathetic and pathological liar, words can never be trusted.

In summary I rest my case!

Those young people must be taught the Spirit of Christmas and what it is meant for. They seem not to have been taught or have lost it.
They should be punished as they deserve so that they will learn a lesson of love, peace and goodwill to all men.

Do not be silly! Your comments made no sense whatsoever. It appears that you did not comprehend what the Acting Superintendent stated and deviated from the subject matter.

If your head was not in the sand you would have noticed he stated “2015 ” Christmas!!!! So my take on this article is: If he states” 2015″, he was so caught up in all the mess that occurred in the recent Elections he does not know what time of day it is. DUH!!! Surely that was not so long ago and unless you think nothing was wrong , then maybe you too will forget. This Election Cycle however, will go down in History as the most corrupt EVER!!!!! So that’s my observation. IF THE HEADLINES WAS A TYPO ERROR THEN TELL DNO TO CORRECT IT.!!!!

I always find it strange and out of place when they comment on other matters which are irrelevant to the article. It is stupidity. I do not know why DNO posts such comments. They can never stick to the issue. They call people names but they are the ones who deserve to be called names and are not intelligent. It projects their ignorance. They cannot see their error. They deserve to be corrected but will they ever learn?
