Counterfeit cash lands men in court

The counterfeit notes
The counterfeit notes

Three men have been arrested and taken before a Roseau Magistrate on the charges of forgery, uttering and deception.

Uttering is “the crime of knowingly tendering or showing a forged instrument to another with intent to defraud.”

Alvinson Jolly of Grand Bay, Denzil Lawrence of Bath Estate and Joel Kentish of Castle Comfort appeared in court on Thursday.

The police are alleging that the men had in their possession 14 $100 notes with the same serial number, BM336113, between November 15 and 17.

Jolly was denied bail on the basis that he had similar offenses pending upon which he was on bail for ‘good behavior’ and was ordered not to commit any offenses.

His plea that he had left Grand Bay and was living in Canefield with his girlfriend who is six months pregnant, all fell on deaf ears.

His matters are set for August 14, 2014 in Roseau and May 19, 2014 in Grand Bay.

Lawrence and Kentish were granted bail in the sum of $10,000 each.

Jolly and Lawrence are represented by Wayne Norde while Joshua Francis represents Kentish.

In Dominica, $100 bills? How did they manage to make them? Do they have the machine in Dominica or were they printed out of the country? They should have known that they would be caught. I hope the police searched their property thoroughly.

Well caught. What would they have done next with those monies? land transfer deals, bin and fertiliser bobbols, mansions, villas, hotels, open security firms with snippers, schemes upon schemes, lipstick and deep sheet clinics.

Caught in time; whereas others never seem to be caught.

Also the charge of “Obtaining Property by Deception” may apply, as the culprit would have knowingly used fake bank notes in order to obtain property for another.
