Over 300 attend national prayer rally

An estimated 300 people attended Sunday afternoon’s National Prayer Rally, held under the theme ‘Halting the Work of the Devil, Reclaiming our Country’ on Independence Street in Roseau to pray for the country and the many lives that have been lost in the past two weeks due to violence.

The inclement weather did not seem be a deterrent as pastors from across the spectrum continue to call for government officials to return to the days of putting God first. They have also called on the nation’s people to refrain from badmouthing their land and calling evil and destruction to it.

About 11 pastors spoke of national repentance, repentance of the church, exhortation, and prayer for pastors and churches and worship.

“We must repent from witchcraft and evil in the church, “ said pastor Chad Prince, who prayed for the hurting families.

“After tonight, we expect to see great results in our country,” said Pastor Lennox Timothy.

“What is happening around us is the works of darkness exposed, not against the government or the cities, but against the church of God in Dominica. This series of murders, demon possession and wide spread violence, witchcraft and the cloud over the land can only be discarded by a strategic attack by the church. I declare there is not going to be one more murder in our country,” said Pastor Bill Daniel.

On Friday, acting Prime Minister Reginald Austrie had uttered a call to religious leaders to gather their congregation and pray for the faith of the island and a stop to the bloodshed.

Dominica has recorded six murders in the past two weeks, adding to another four the eight months prior. Law enforcement officials have made arrests in some cases while investigations are ongoing in determine the identities of those involved in the others.

Police spokesman Claude Weekes said last week that the situation was becoming infectious and he too had called for an increase in prayer for the Nature Isle of the Caribbean.

Today’s proceedings are expected to go on through to the mid hours of this evening and being broadcast on most radio stations locally.

    While we need prayers, the leaders need to go and repent first. Hypocrites! How can you lead me and you’re worse than me?

    @gaynproud: @gaynproud: Hi you are really getting out of line. Be respectful to the Great I and I first and foremost and then to yourself. Stop making excuses for your actions. That is the evil one who is justifying your actions and making you believe that to make a comment you must be disrepectful to others. If you are respectful to our Creator and love as he has commanded us to do then it becomes easy to love our brothers and sisters. This I say to you in love. We all have to change from our wicked ways and repent so the Lord will heal our land and that includes you too sir.

    DNO is not a mepuis corner. Let love drive us forward to our destiny of unification in the land regardles of colour, political affiliations. Let us come together under the umbrella of Our Heavenly Father the great I and I then we can comment objectively and learn form one another not the worldy things but the things of the Spirit and Him who created the Heavens and the Earth.

    @gaynproud: According to the young people “Haters” stop spreading hatred in ou rIsaland. It is gross when now that person like yourself are now hitting at the lord’s annointed be it a Pastor, Priest etc. You have not regard for the Creator most High. See what happenned when the Israelites or previously annonted persons turned their back on the Most High Creator. We do not respect our Father and think we can do as we pleased even when we are commanded to do certain things. We sow the seeds of discord, hatred, jealousy, envy, greed, division and some of us take advantage of those who are less eductated than ourselves. We sow the seds of confusion when we spread lies etc against Pastors, leaders in all walks of our nation. Doesnot our conscience sear us when we indulge in sowing the seeds of destruction.

    Take note the fruit of the spirit are love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, , goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. Against such there is no law. Galatians 5 22 – 23.

    Wake up my people let us repent from our wicked ways and seek the face of our Father so he can heal the nation – Dominica.

    Discard the seeds of destruction and let us take on the fruits of the Spirit. It can be done. Away with all the bad spirits – gossip, slander , discord, hatred, jealousy, envy, greed, division and some of us take advantage of those who are less eductated than ourselves by feeding them with rubbish to get them violent etc. Together we must (with our Heavenly Father at the head table) destroy the spirits of destruction.

    @Birdie:
    shame on you. you so blinded by hate you do not know what you are saying. How many Dominican catholic priests that abuse little boys and should be in jail?? whatever a man does, is not the religion that tells him to do it especially if it is wrong. I can say the same thing for the pastors, they a great adulterers and yet still they praying for others, what makes them better than a catholic priest. You must never forget that they crucified Jesus Christ so who are we catholics not to be crucified. If the catholic church was so bad why is it that it was first created by Jesus when he gave peter the mandate. It is greed that made other religions be formed, everyday a new denomination is being formed because this is now a business where pastors want to get as much money for their lavish lives.

    Nothing is wrong with mary. She interveeded in Jesus’s first miracle, that is to show you the power of her prayer, why didn’t they go straight to Jesus. She is the mother of our Lord and like anyone, if you want to get the help from a child you go through the parent; We believe she is bessed as the bible says and can intercede for us; we worship one God not mary.

    i always say those of you that talk about Mary know nothing about her you just hear a pastor talk and you believe. do your own research and pray for discernment and you will understand the power of the rosary

    gay ppl are not bad ppl its the demon inside them that needs to go to hell.God indeed created us in his image and likeness. thats why he likens his relationship with the church to that of a marriage. he also calls the church his bride. in alot of his explanation of the relationship he has with humans it is compare to a marriage relationship. never was it mentioned that he was the groom and humans is a groom as well nor was it mentioned that he a bride and humans the same…. on another note d bible also says that is my ppl who are call by my name shall humble them selves ”pray” turn from their wecked ways, i will hear from heaven and heal their land.boooommmm!!!!!!

    @wow: MATTHEW 7:13 Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

    @WELL:

    I do not usually agree with Gay&Proud comments. However, I am trying to figuring out what he/she has stated that is so wrong in this instance that everyone is bashing him/her. In this instance, his/her comments make a lot of sense. He/she is saying that if you are praying for just praying sake, the whole thing will be void and ineffective, because the words will be coming out of empty mouths.

    There is one huge benefit to DNO: I am now seeing how ignorant and prejudice some Dominicans are. If someone disagrees with you guys on any subject, you hang the person up to dry.

    The sad thing is, many of you are the ones proclaiming to be the keepers of the word of God. However, you always eat up the most basic premise of what a christian is supposed to be. It just goes to show that going to church and reading a bible is not what gives enlightenment. Enlightenment comes from a deeper place. You fools are the same people who go to church on sundays, and wake up on mondays and curse your neighbors…HYPOCRITES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    @gaynproud

    God bless Dominica. Love the turn out. I claim healing for the country in the name of Jesus.

    I saw this posting by gaynproud. Now be careful with calling the name of the Lord in vain. You’ve said that God made you in his own image and likeness. .

    God made everyone in His own image and likeness. The murderers, thieves etc, they were all made in his image too.

    Leviticus 18:22 (New International Version) 22 ” ‘Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.

    But God did not create sin. He says in His word that being gay is detestable. That is the reason He came to die on the cross…He died for all our sins, so we can be made perfect. The murders, thieves, gays, and the rest of us sinners have that choice to make to accept Him into our lives. If not, then you will not be saved by His grace and be sent to hell. There is no better way to say it.

    Romans 6:23 (NIV) For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

    1 Corinthians 6:9 (NIV)

    9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders

    October 4, 2010

    Remember, God/Allah/Jehovah (or whatever name followers choose) helps those who help themselves. Prayer should be followed by action and action should be followed by prayer. Maybe Domincans should stop the vile judging. As the late great Bob Marley sang ‘while you judging someone else is judging you, when you point a finger, three are pointing back at you’.

    Is it not time that spiritual leaders began to preach tolerance, unity, community. What about removing the reglious divides, all religions should be working together to help, support , teach and guide.

    Dominicans are (or is it now were) known as hospitable people, what happen to that?
    Have your polititians considered monitoring what is beamed into peoples homes via Cable?

    Dominica is way to small for all this. What happen to the proud people. Our ancestors must be spinning in their graves.

    October 4, 2010

    ……..keep praying domincans, be strong, focus on all things positive and repell the negatives. i appreciate the efforts of our religious leaders and i do hope that this continues and larger crowds are drawn, these prayer meetings must be held simultaneously across the country in every district, every constituency and every village.

    …………but to government and legislators, prayer and faith alone will not solve this we need stricter penalties, the laws of the land must me enforced and re-enforced justice must be allowed to prevail, don’t rule out the death penality, upgrade and equip our police force, take all necessary action. rid the of these criminals and there evil.

    I’m very happy to see Dominicans uniting to pray. Let’s all have faith in God, let us confess our sins before God and receive forgiveness through the shed blood of Christ. Do no worry about your brothers sins, but confess your own. You will give an account on the last day for yourself, not your brother, so enough of the finger pointing.

    UNITE in prayer. Read God’s word for direction and comfort. May God forgive us or sins, strengthen us as we repent and guide us in His will. Thank you Lord Jesus that you paid it all on the cross.

    In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

    Peace be upon the prophet Muhammad, his household, and the previous prophets and messengers.

    I ask the All Mighty Allah to remove the veil of darkness of polytheism which has been forced upon them via the white man. Oh Allah, they have attributed divinity to the messiah who was a messenger of God who came to teach the gospels. Help them to realise that they have attributed a son to God which is a monstrous thing indeed. Help them to see that the concept of the trinity is greco-roman paganism and mythologies incorporated to suit the European man’s desires. Free their minds from making images of God. Oh Allah, they have coined similitudes to you, grant them clarity of mind, reason and spiritual insight. Free them from abstract idolatry.

    O Allah, I ask you to send your spiritual agents and soliders from which man cannot see to battle the demons amongst spirits and men. Raise up the good people from this society to fight against murder, political and religious tribalism, homosexuality, fornication, adultery, usury, disobedience to parents, disrespect for authority, rebellious men and women, drunkeness and all the major filth that corrupt this land. Help us O Allah to win this spiritual battle. Help us O Allah that even if we disagree with a persons ideology or way of life, help us to have tolerance, justice and compassion for these people O Allah.

    O Allah, let my people see that they have been brainwashed by the American media about Islam. Open their hearts so that they may see Islam as the alternative for Dominica. Remove arrogance from their hearts O Allah so at least they will read and be informed, thus guided by you O Allah. O Allah guide this nation.

    O Allah, we live in an economically challenging country. Allow them to see that capitalism is not working before it’s too late. Allow them to stop using interest in their banking policies, this sucks the blood of the people, significantly making them a slave to these institutions. O Allah, grant my people wisdom so that they may use the available resources around them for primary and secondary production.

    O Allah, our men, allow them to take their rightful place as leaders of their homes. Allow them the opportunities so that they can adequately provide for their spouse. Allow them O Allah to fulfill their responsibilities.

    O Allah, our women, remind them of their duty towards their husbands. Help them to love marriage and to preserve their chastity. Allow them to understand that the veil is the godly way to dress. Allow them to understand that very little clothing to walk on the road is not from you O Allah, it is from the devil. Remind them of the examples of the believing women like Mary the mother of Jesus peace be with her, not Britney Spears. Remind our men and women that family life and spirituality comes before the pleasures of this world.

    O Allah, replace our corrupted system with a system built on God’s law, not on man-made isms and skisms. Remove these Commonwealth, British, post colonial laws from our lands. Free us from them for they are not of you O Allah.

    This is a direct pray to you O Allah without any intermediators or partners. I ask this directly in your name because I know only God answers prayers and no one else. Amen.

    I do appreciate the stand the pastors have taken but to be honest i have lost alot of faith in some of them. Christianity has no meaning to some of them. They look at it as a bank account where you just put in money. Some of them are more involed in wordly matters rather than preaching the word of God. They are like Judas they have sold their soul for thirty pieces of silver.

    @colihaut Gal you are so right. Makes no sense to have these “so called men of God” come out there and pray over the nation when their own lives does not reflect the God they serve. Makes no sense to go out there and pray when brothers and sisters cant watch each other and love them as they should. Will God answer those prayers? Im all for prayers but when I listen to a pastor come talk about the catholic church thats discouraging. Its a prayer march and shouldnt be bashing religions. How is God to answer such prayers? The change begins with us. When we learn to love each other and say a spade is a spade and not compromise. Judgement will begin in the church if it doesnt get itself right FIRST. God will answer the prayers only when our lives and hearts are right with him first.

Pastors are now blessing adultery, being fornicators, breaking up marriages and lots more. Our island is become fast where sin is no more something thats is frown upon. I live in the US and only our people are trying to stay away from each other. All other nationality have this bond but not Dominicans. We hate. And despise each other we are jealous instead of happy for others success but I believe until all this witchcraft is eliminated there will always be a curse on the island cause light cannot dwell in darkness!!! Yes we need prayer, but prayer is not all, we need to do things to make things happening in Dominica; protest infront of the courthouse/Financial center, disrupt meetings of the bar association, take a collective stand against known criminals in our communities, Make legal personalities like the chief magistrate and the president of the bar association feel unwelcomed everywhere they go, etc.

    Remember peoples, God help those who help themselves, lets stop being a talk society and lets start making a change together.

    @gaynproud:

    Please let us agree in faith for Dominica . I feel your pain and understand your struggles as a gay person…but you too.. have to be tolerant of others and don’t see negativity in everything.

    We need to join together as a nation..all of us…gay , straight, black white carib ..as long as you are Dominican ….we need you to agree in prayer for Dominica’s sake.

    Remember Dominica first.

    May we allow God’s Holy Spirit to speak through us this day, as we call to God on behalf of those who have faltered. May we speak the words of the mind of the Spirit in us, to provoke a response from God Almighty, in the Person of Jesus Christ; that He will reign His Love on all of us–the Love which is the balm that sanctifies and cleanse our mind and heart.

    I pray that God hear us, that He will come to our deliverance from works of His enemy–the devil in Satan–whose intention is to steal, kill and destroy .

    Dear God, please manifest Your Love to us, this day, by our faith, that we may know the ecstasy of peace and joy–the substance of Your strength in us. Teach us, dear God, how to use this strength to fight, until we have overcome, for our comfort and Your glory. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!

    Not impressed. Pray for change. Internal change, tolerance and to mind all you business, pray for all you children, the young criminals all you have raising with the hate all you teach them. Pray for a change of heart so that you would not spend time criticising other religious denominations and act like yours is better. Pray for leaving people along to live their lifestyle as they please. Pray for the political hate you all have and the division you have for each other. If that is not what all you praying for then it is a waste of time and the murders will not stop.
