A Dominican was shot dead in the British Virgin Islands early on Friday morning.

Authorities have identify the victim as Kawanna Rhymer, 20.

DNO understands she is from the village of Grand Fond.

A man suspected to be the perpetrator of the crime has turned himself to the police and will be interrogated, BVI News Online has reported.

Reports indicate the incident occurred at 4:00 am during an alleged altercation with a man in the parking lot of a night club.

It is reported that the Dominican was employed at Delta Gas Station and was living in the BVI for a number of years.

Grieving relatives have gathered at the Peebles Hospital in Tortola as police continue investigations into the crime.

Relatives interviewed by the media in the BVI said Rhymer is a quiet person who stays away from trouble.

Press reports from the the BVI also stated that the alleged perpetrator is known.

DNO is still following this story and will publish more information as it becomes available.

WE ALL HAVE LEFT DOMINICA HOPING TO HAVE A BETTER LIFE. I’M SURE THIS YOUNG LADY WAS NO EXCEPTION LOOKING FOR A BETTER LIFE. IT IS HARD OUT THERE CRIMINALS AND BAD BOYS ARE FEW BUT ARE TERRORIZING THE POPULATION OUT THERE. ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS SEEK GOD AND PRAY EVERYDAY THAT HE WILL GUIDE AND PROTECT US IN OUR DAILY WALK OF LIFE. GOD IS IN CONTROL SEEK HIM FOR HE WILL NEVER LEAVE US NOR FORSAKE US.”I’D RATHER LIVE A LIFE BELIEVING THERE IS A GOD THAN TO DIE AND FIND OUT THERE IS’NT,THAN LIVE AS IF THERE IS’NT AND DIE TO FIND OUT THERE IS.”

Think twice before making these comments. Maybe there is a very good reason or explanation why the young lady was there. Your thoughts need a little bit of empathy.

I WAS SIMPLY MAKING TWO OBSERVATIONS:

        1: MOTHER OUT LATE….not 12 or 1 but 4am?

2: OUT LATE WORKING HARD IS WHAT IS ACCEPTABLE FOR INEEDFREE

Help them all Lord, its not only the huge countries that the crime rated are at its peak, but all that we once considered to be paradise is becoming a war zone. Does the human life means a things anymore, maybe they should bring back the death penalty, it may get people to stop and think, before the react to every conflict by taking a life.

There is no fear of God before their eyes,Romans 3:18.And they don’t fear any punishment because we say it is too barbaric, and inhumane to hang these criminals, who go around taking innocents lives. They know sentencing them 10 years in prison is just a joke.
Again, let me address the living.Since you don’t know who next, why not trust the Savior now while you have the opportunity?.

this man is a real weaklin to pull a gun on a woman,he needs to be punished in the worst way,i would not even hang him,he would die to quick, put him among some life time inmates,so they can ride him his bottom night after night.

  19. March 16, 2012

It is sad indeed to have such a beautiful girl, gone to her grave, at age 20. But now there are so many questions left unanswered, pertaining to the future Life of this girl–for physical death is not the final death.

Yes! There is a swamp of lament over her death–especially from those who knew her personally. No! There is nothing wrong with lamenting over her death either–especially so tragic; but will the lamentation help her and those who are left after her?

Therefore, when these things happen we, who are left behind need to stop, look, listen, and search within ourselves.

Our first question should be: Is it well with my mind? Why our mind? Because that is where the decision making happens. Kaywanna’s choice to be at a night club at 4:00am in the morning was a decision of her mind–which she accepted.

Is your mind influencing you to walk the walk of Life, or are you walking the walk of death? You have to know what path you are on.

God created us to be filled, hence we have the desire to remain filled–but what is it that we are choosing to fill ourselves with?

In other words who are we allowing to fill us up–or feed us. For we may be eating one of two kinds of food–the food of Life or the food of death. Are we alert about the foods we eat.

Kaywanna was searching for fulfillment or feeding as well–but at a nightclub parking lot at 4:00am in the morning? Who was feeding her? Well there is no point in answering this question, we all know now!

But was she aware of that destructive feeding–most become aware, because our God loves us; He wants us to know of the dangers we are in and to protect us; but selfishness is the reason we deny His Love for us–the reason we suffer the consequences.

The thief does not come, unless to steal, kill, and destroy; I have come that they may have Life and that they may have it more abundantly–says our Lord God, Jesus Christ.

People of Dominica, it is past time for us to put on the mind of alertness. We need to be filled, but the fulfillment we should desire is spiritual fulfillment. When you are filed in the spirit, you will never desire fleshly fulfillment, for the spirit fills the flesh as well.

Do not be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind; that you may know what is the good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

God has given us “free will” Through this ability of our mind we can choose the food and the walk of Life, or the food and the walk of death.

I feel very sad for Kaywanna! She is so young and beautiful. But at age 20, she was old enough to put “free will” to work on her behalf. Would God have taken her Life through the shot of a gun, had she been walking the walk of Life?

Young men and women in Dominica, answer this question for yourself and then, put your ability of “free will” to work, before it is too late for you.

RIP beautiful young woman. It is not a good thing to be at a nightclub at 4:00AM. Nobody is safe after midnight … anywhere. I don’t care what your “culture” is, 4:00am is asking for trouble.

    • Really?
      March 17, 2012

Oh people must live in fear? So now the victim is victimised in death even? Where she was and what time it was is no issue. She should be free to live her life and do whatever she wants when she wants, is there a 4:am curfew? what if he did it at 9 am or 12:00 noon? would that make you more sympathetic? I really don’t get you people and your reasoning. The man had criminal intentions point blank and no matter when, where or why he would have done the same thing without remorse!
