UPDATE: Dominican arrested in St. Maarten alleged infant killing

Leblanc
Suspect, Dalton Le Blanc

The police in St. Maarten are investigating a bizarre case of crime which has left a baby dead in the middle of the public road on Tuesday night.

The police on that island have confirmed that the man is Dominican. He has been identified as Dalton Le Blanc.

His full name was not released because he has not been formally charged with any crime.

Reports indicate he snatched the infant from its home in an area called Middle Region, swinging the child recklessly and ultimately slamming the baby on the road.

The infant died instantly.

Media reports indicate the man’s rage began in a nearby night club where he crashed into several parked cars while exiting the parking lot. His strange behavior continued while driving on the road when  he damaged several cars, walls and fences. When his car stalled, he abandoned it and stormed into a nearby house where he saw the baby and grabbed it.

The official police report said law enforcement were called to the scene of a break in at about 11:30 pm on Tuesday.  Upon arrival they were told the suspect had fled the scene. They heard a loud explosion and upon investigation, saw that a vehicle had struck and destroyed a concrete wall. They said they saw the suspect with the baby who was showing no sign of life.

He was subdued and the baby was pronounced dead, according to the police.

DNO was reliably informed that the suspect started acting in a strange manner at his job earlier in the day and was sent home.

Whats wrong with all of you people talking about the man’s place of residence. It don’t matter where the man is from he is an African man. And stop knocking yourselves out about his background like your trying to throw blame. Dominica and St. Maarten are both beautiful islands with Dominica having the less vain and most humble people I have ever met. Don’t give both islands a bad look with your prejudices. Pure ignorance. If the man killed a child then investigate and do your jobs thoroughly and to the best of your ability he must be placed on exile or lynched for his crime one out of two options available. Stop butchering people because of where they are from, demons exist everywhere, and based on peoples sin, people are possessed and do radical things. Some talk but don’t really walk.

such a tragic incident. My heart goes out to the family who has lost such a precious gift. I too am a mother of a newborn and I can only imagine what these parents are going through…the incident just doesn’t seem random to me after reading that the father of the baby and the accused worked for the same company. There are driving factors behind this act, in my opinion, based on this statement. I really hope that this family finds peace.

  5. DNO GET UR FACTS
    April 4, 2013

To the publishers and journalists of DNO you guys need to do better in getting the story straight and the right details before you publish your stories. Too many times we get information that is inaccurate or just absurd. The result of poor journalism… the guy is a St. Maartener with Dominican parentage you quickly claim the murder and label it as if it were a Dominican who was raised here then went to live in St. Maarten and did the crime. Attracting a vast reading audience isn’t the only thing that matters… STOP GIVING DOMINICANS A BAD NAME choose your titles properly and stop providing the people with misconstrued information.

ADMIN: We go with the official police report. The police said he is from Dominica. This is a line from the police report which we have in out possession ” The Police Central Dispatch was informed of the situation and the Paramedics were immediately sent to treat the infant who was already not showing any sign of life. The suspect with initials D. Le B. from the island of Dominica (26) was arrested on the scene and taken to the police department in Philipsburg.”

DNO ignore this person. The man may have been born on St Martin, but he was very much Dominican. Don’t bother disown him now. He hung out with Dominicans mostly and if you asked him where he was from he always said Mahaut-St Martin. He was also a woman beater.

DNO pay no mind to this damn fool let him speak for himself, he is not on the rest of us behalf

    • April 4, 2013

You should know by now that regardless to where a person was born that person is automatically a Dominican because of their parents. That said, although these children are considered Dominicans, when they travel to Dominica they are still given time to stay. All-in-all, that baby was innocent, regardless to what the circumstances that baby should not be dead. And yes, the killer is a Dominican.

He is originally from Mahaut (hope I spelled it correctly) Dominica. He has resided in St Maarten, like many Dominicans for years. Also note that SXM has a large Dominican population, and they are NOT known for violent crime.

  7. No Man Is God
    April 4, 2013

This is a very unique but extremely sad situation. What’s making it even worst are the comments being posted. Most of you are merely speculating at what happened to lead to such a heinous and ridiculous act by a man. We do not know. An innocent baby is dead his mother and other family members are left torn and shattered in the wake of all that has happened. While we may all want to administer what we think may be a just punishment for this act, we are not God. I am a mother of two and wonder everyday how anyone could hurt children no matter the age so yes i understand the outrage and cries for “an eye for an eye” But instead take time out to call on Jesus and pray for the mother whose life has just been tragically changed by what she is going through, pray for peace and comfort for her at this trying time.

Let God be the judge in this case no sin goes unpunished “NONE”

My heartfelt condolences to the family of the young Mark Reid Jr. may God extend His hands of mercy to you and wrap you in His essence of comfort and may you be granted the peace that passeth all understanding that will keep your heart and mind through Christ Jesus. Take comfort in knowing that God don’t give us more than we can bear.

Dominicans again! Can someone please leave Dominicans in Dominica. Don’t give them any opportunities to go anywhere. Whereever they go they create problems. They seem to be cavemen, no class whatsoever.

    • No Man Is God
      April 4, 2013

This is a very insulting thing to say about Dominicans. Everywhere has its own. You can’t label an entire nation because of the action of a few.

Everyone has a mind of their own and may choose to do right or wrong.

There are other Dominicans living abroad who do very well for themselves and don’t get tangled in any illegal mess.

That is a very unfair statement and shows poor judgment by you.

    • April 4, 2013

I am a St Maartener, There are thousands of Dominicans living in SXM, and they are not known as being violent criminals. In every race, group, country, creed, religion you will find “bad” people, it is not a Dominican thing.

Anonymous, I am not a judger of persons, in this case however, I would like to advise you. You shouldn’t judge Dominicans, you are showing the world who you as a person really are. I am sure that Dominicans aren’t the only people you speak ill of, it’s called a characteristic of prejudice, racist, and a judgemental character. I will pray for you that you are delivered from your own stones you casting. Blessings to you and your family.

People!People!People!.be careful when you’ll are just letting out words in a hast.
I worked for that company in St.Marteen, and believe me,it’s not easy working for that company, you got to be strong will to work in there.
As a matter of fact,we would be under pressure from the local islanders and at the work place.
In some cases we would even get death threats.
Don’t get me wrong, that’s not an excuss for what he did.Terrible is to light a word to describe his action.
However,in some cases we got to with hold judgement, and sometimes further, even hold our peace, and just pray to GOD above.
God gave to us two holes on our heads, one on the left and one on the right, which we call our ears.
And HE gave us one hole only ,beneath our nose, which we call our mouth.
With that said, let’s be reminded that none of us holds tomorrow, our lives are not in our hands, and it can wind up going in some crazy direction that was never fore seen.
(Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before GOD:for GOD is in heaven, and thou upon earth;therefore let thy words be few.) Eccl.5:2
And so,GOD knows all, sees all,and hears all,HE does not need twelve jurors to heip HIM sought it out.HE alone knows the guy’s heart, and so I’ll leave it up to HIM,HE will deal with the matter.
When your neighdor house is on fire, just keep wetting yours..
And by the way,I do not know the accused.
However, I extend my condolences to the family and friends of the little one.And prays on behalf of all concerned.

the security guard company’s in st maarten are infamous for hiring only foreign workers, usually Guyanese, Dominican and Jamaican. They pay them below the minimum wage and work them like dogs. This is not hearsay, in the SXM papers there are various court cases right now against these security firms. But it’s not just one security firm, several are in the middle of battles against their employees right now for payment

He went berserk. This is some rage and insanity. Something radical went wrong with him, in his life to have caused this. No one in their right mind would have done such a thing. What could have enticed him to do this?
The St. Maarten police authorities will deal with this situation. He will surely be given a medical examination and a psychiatric evaluation to determine his frame of mind and what caused him to commit this atrocity against the baby and her mother and other damages.
Consider when he calms down be it by being given barbiturates (which I expect) and he realizes what he did, he will be remorseful. He might have to be placed under suicide watch.
Recently I heard on the U.S. Catholic Radio, the familiar quote, “There but for the grace of God go I” that, all of us are capable of doing anything. We are human beings. The human mind could give way in a wink of an eye over problems. They undergo anxiety, stress and pressure which they are not able to control. Why do some people go insane and others do not? Only God knows. If not the same, we never know what situation we will find ourselves in.
We must pray for the baby’s mother who, at this moment is obviously inconsolable. Also for his family who are grieving at what he did. His actions will also reflect on them which they will obviously take personally. May God cover them with his mantle of love and consolation.
Consider too, God who knows hearts and minds, who sees their condition and what is occurring in our life is merciful. As Our Lord taught us: Luke 6:36 – “Be merciful as your heavenly Father is.”

    To some people on here.

If you have forgiven the assailant and praying for all involved, then God bless you exceedingly.
If you are set on condemning the assailant and thinking that an eye for an eye is better, then you are a ‘friend of the world’… What does the bible say about friends of the world?

Let law and justice unfold according to Gods will and don’t speak of or try to influence or encourage otherwise

For humans, such a crime is seemingly unforgivable. When I heard this news this morning I was so moved and angry at him. Then, the spirit of anger quickly left. It is one of the privileges of being a Christian.

I read most of the comments on here and it is appalling how negative persons can be and how unforgiving this world is. To you, there may be absolutely no justification for his actions and being human, you have every right to be angry. BUT, you should take some time to also think that the assailants parents may have lost their son too? why not show compassion both ways.

Also, If you want to know why this happened, just remember to ask God when you are giving an account of yourself on judgement day.

My prayers go up to heaven for the people involved and also for you.

  18. April 3, 2013

Mothers and fathers of Dominica, your children–no matter if they have reached adulthood–they need your intercessory prayer!

God will protect the little children, for He knows that they know nothing about themselves–perhaps that man is responsible for what he did to that baby; perhaps not, only God knows and He alone will deal with the matter.

Our children, from the time they reach 13 years old, boy or girl, that is the time they begin to encounter the “spiritual warfare” of Life; they are not yet ready to face that war of their minds–and so, as their parents we need to be on our p’s and q’s before our God of Holiness on their behalf. We have to get rid of our indifferences towards our children–especially our teenagers and young adults.

What I am saying is that our children needs our intercession–prayers to God on their behalf. This means that we ought to be constantly paying attention to their attitude and conducts; to notice where they are at fault; and to bring their petitions, of existence, to God on their behalf; until God has trained them, by faith, to speak their problems to Him and to receive them directly. We need to let our children know that God wants a personal relationship with them–we are not helping by causing them to embrace the Sunday morning thing–where all the learn about is “religion”–the man–made rules and laws.

As adults we are too insensitive as far as our children are concerned, especially when they reach their teenage years. And so, the more they notice our unresponsive attitude towards them they further away they go from us.

Issues of Life build up in their minds, they do no know how to deal with those issues; they think that they have no one who will listen to them; and so they keep that mess of existence building up in their mind untill it boils over–an explosion that causes the destruction and death of everyone in their path.

Whether this man, is a young person or a mature adult, it is quite obvious that he could not deal with the troubles of his mind; and like a time-bomb,the minute approached zero seconds and he exploded–an explosion that would bring everything in its path down with him.

    • April 3, 2013

And so, Lord Jesus, I pray that You will give Your Rest to the mother–or parents–of that baby as You do what You have do with that man who has caused her/them such anguish. Amen!

Dominicans are very strange people. If this were someone from another place who did this, there would be no water to wash them, no mental illness, drug excuses. He would have been executed already, however a Dominican murders an innocent baby before a pleading mother and they give thumbs down to those who call it as it is, or ask for him to be severely punished. He has so many apologists, friends and therapists on his defense. Why people? If this were your family member would you want anyone to defend the criminal?

They need to bring back the Death penalty. Especially in DA when it was know that they would be hung for such disgusting crimes there was a lot less murders happening. And I pray that the drug bath salt did not make it to the islands, because its worse the cocaine or heroin. I work with addicts, and this sounds like he took something that he couldn’t handle. we need to realize the info on DNO is incomplete hence the reason for no name or a pic.I do sympathise with the family for their lost. I understood it started at the home the young man was breaking everthing, the neighbours called the cops several times, they never came. That was when the young man left in his vehicle and continued on his path.Had the police answered to call could have been avoided. A normal person would not act that way, this sounds to me that this young man was troubled. I dont drugs was involved, if we read the comment of a close friend on the site, even he realized he was not himself. This guy snapped, lets not to quick to and wait for more information. we are humans.

This man is from the island of Dominica and he is a murderer there is no excuse for his actions. If he was under the infulence of drugs or was drunk or possessed -you have a choice not to get involved with things like that -there is no justification for his actions -I wonder how different some of these postings would be if the baby had been from your island and the man had been a foreigner.

Just like every other country MY COUNTRY Dominica has lovely people, so stop making it sound like all Dominicans are bad people.

    April 3, 2013

    Hello Everyone;

I read all the comments. D and I have been friends for a while now. I am very sadden to have heard of this incident. My heart goes out to the family and friends of this baby. I cant imagine the pain that you all are facing. Something must have happened to cause D to have done this act! I spoke to him not very long ago and I noticed he was not himself but I gave him the benefit of the doubt and didnt pry into his life because often times he would tel me to wait until he comes to me.

Now hearing this makes me wonder did I really do my duty as a friend. I am very moved by this. I have no answers but I hope he will tell me what went on before all of this. The most automatic response to this would probably be “KILL HIM”. I don’t condone his act….but at the same time want to sound the alarm that even the most terrible sinner, God forgives!

I will continue to pray for him.

    Dominican friend living in Sxm

    • As I see it
      April 3, 2013

@ His close friend, I feel your pain because I have been there myself. Sometimes you just feel your friend is not himself / herself but at the same time you don’t want them to feel you trying to get into their personal life and as a result, we fall short of sometimes saving them from real trouble as true friends usually do. However, we just learn through experiences like these. I wish people would be a little slower to condemn people they don’t even know or the circumstances that led to such brutality. All we can do is pray for those left to mourn and the young man as well. Be strong!

Look here..” CLOSE FRIEND” clearly while you are disgusted with his actions, you will want to plead for mercy on him. If he so mad why didn’t hang his black arse, or jump in the sea? He slam the innocent baby on the road and then hid in bushes, what else you want to know? I don’t give a darn if he pulled a Jesus in the past and walked on water, he should be getting blows all now. Feel how you want but don’t you dare come here and ask people to have sympathy for a mal boowoe. He damn well knew what he did! It’s the same bs that got that other child killer running her trap on facebook to this day. Every time wicked people do their act is always a syndrome, devil or some excuse, chah man

That man needs help. he snapped..his friends should do a bit more, he said he noticed he was not himself, people lets not condem him..lets pray for the grieving mother and for this young men… the devil is looking for young people we have to pary hard not to be tempted and pray hard for him not to win our souls and those of our friends and family.

        April 4, 2013

Oh please hush Kalinnago, no it’s hypochrites like you who are always making excuses and thumping bible quotes in peoples faces that cause young people to go astray. What the hell you know about this man? I can tell you he was very abusive to a woman from the Dominican Republic he lived with at one point in time. It’s Dominicans like us who had to rescue the woman from him. she even lived with a Dominican from the Mero for a while because he wouldn’t let her back in her own apartment. He should be hanged!!! the baby was a victim of opportunity, but not for a second do I doubt he would have killed anybody in his path that night. Your tongue kalinnago is the biggest killer because you speak on things you have no clue of. You are all over the place ranting on every comment, he should be hung by his damn balls. People acting like he was some model citizen, by the way he was at his favourite whorehouse so maybe he was mad they chop his money and he took his rage out on the vehicles in the parking lot when he was thrown out for acting up. Some people have two sides, some have six, and there are many Dominicans here on St Martin committing very brutal crimes daily, and that’s just the reality.

I wish they had told us a little more about the nearby house he stormed into and the baby that he grabbed, ran away with, and slammed to death on the road. Was the house he stormed into belong to his wife / girlfriend, friend, or a stranger? Was the child killed his child, his friend’s child, or a child he did not know at all? Was the mother of the child killed a Dominican as well? Anyway that is very sad indeed and may all receive special grace to go through this one

But you must realize these things take time. The incident occurred last night and it will take days even weeks for investigators to put the pieces together. You cannot expect something of that magnitude to take place and then within hours you have all the info.

I am sure the story will be updated as the days go by. So just chill….you get info of the incident and work with what you got.

As I see it, and others, please realized this happen close to midnight. Investigations are still going on. From what we know he went off in a whore house from there he drove out from the parking lot caused a lot of damages to other people property. When his car breakdown he was on foot that is when he forcefully entered the house. As the investigation progresses updates will be given. It is a sad day here in St. Maarten.

This guy needs to be behind bars until the case is tried and then for the rest of his life he spends it in a maximum prison. What did this infant do to deserve what he did to her/him? :-x :-x :-x .

I hope that he has come to realization and at least give and explanation and repent so that there will be some form of closure to the victims family, so sad to hear of these kind of incidents, Let’s just keep praying for each other world wide as brothers and sisters.
