A Dominican living in the British Virgin Islands (BVI), Patrickson Magloire, was fined $5,400 for the possession of an illegal firearm and explosives when he appeared in a court last week Friday.

If the fines are not paid within the next 14 days, he will be sent to prison for three years and four months.

Magloire was also granted $15,000 signed bail in an unrelated case of conspiracy to rob, arising from an incident at RiteWay Supermarket in Road Reef Plaza, Tortola, according to media reports.

Reports are that he was employed with the establishment at the time he allegedly conspired to perpetrate the robbery.

After he was arrested for that robbery, which took place in October 2013, he confessed to buying the gun and explosives, which is unrelated, in Road Town.

It is reported that he led police to the hidden firearm during a search at this home in Nottingham Estate in Tortola.

He pleaded guilty to the charges on Friday and was fined.

Also on Friday the prosecution laid out the full details of the allegation surrounding the conspiracy-to-rob- charge against Magloire.

The court heard that, on Friday October 11 2013, two days before the robbery of RiteWay, Magloire met with one of two alleged accomplices and was told of plans to rob the supermarket while Magloire was on the job.

The plan was laid out the following day (Saturday, October 12 2013) when Magloire met with another man and the first accomplice.

The next day (Sunday, October 13) Magloire went to work at the supermarket and was assigned to pick up cash at different Riteway stores on the island.

The court was told that after his last stop he allegedly telephoned his henchmen and told them he was heading to the Riteway Store at Road Reef.

After arriving, Magloire was approached by a masked man who ordered him out of the vehicle.

It is reported that he obeyed and the masked man took the vehicle, which contained $42,000 in cash, and drove away.

The vehicle was found at another location but the missing money has not been recovered.

Hello and good evening my people. Well how can they just fine this criminal for such serious crimes. He is a harden criminal who planned this robbery using a deadly weapon therefore he should be jailed for no less than five years in prison. I hope they don’t deport him to sweet Dominica where can cause problems for our citizens.

Another Dominican Again! What is wrong with these people. They behave like animals in their country and wherever they go. No class whatsoever. No wonder Dominica is out of control.

This was a bad mistake and a foolish one. I wonder if he was successful in this plan, would he continue to work at that establishment. We will never know.
He has surely messed up his life, his reputation in Tortola. He has disappointed and embarrassed the one who employed him and trusted him with that job.
The $42,000 was not found. I wonder if he knows where those guys are or if they ever contacted him. He may never see a cent of the money.
If he is deported his passport will reflect it. He will never be able to get a legal passport unless he receives a pardon. Who will pardon him and on what grounds?
He has to live with what he did for the rest of his life. Very sad indeed. He must fervently pray to God to help him cope in the present and for the future.

He was up to no good. Ok, lets say you have an illegal gun, but what was he doing with explosives? God knows, it might be a blessing in disguise that he got caught. He definitely was going to create terror somewhere. Who knows how and where he was going to do that. You or me maybe would get caught with what he had in mind.

Get the criminals, before they get us. You could see he did not care much who get caught in the cross fire once he get his way. And pay attention, he is not in this alone, he has other crooks with him.

YOU PUT A PIG IN A PALACE, IT IS STILL A PIG. NINETY NINE DAYS FOR A THIEF, BUT ONE DAY FOR A WATCHMAN. He has been doing that for a long time, now he has been caught red handed. You think with age it would bring reasoning for this man, but no, that’s why I think he had sticky fingers a long time ago.

And I’m a woman, but don’t thing woman don’t steal too. They more sneaky, but I know woman like me who have sticky hands, and a have told them already to stop it or go get help. It might be an addiction like anything else. I told them they have children and family, do it for them, get help. One day, if they don’t change, they sure will get caught. Everywhere have cameras, especially overseas.

Please, If you have sticky hands, and greed in your system, quit while you are ahead, because if you don’t stop, you sure will get caught.

That’s the problem. Now he’s coming back broke and poor to put hardship on his family and Dominica. Relatives make sure you have a piece of land for him to work for his living. He needs to work from 6 to 6. I really have no sympathy for criminals and criminal immigrants. When you leave, it is supposed to be for the better, except if it gets worse due to no fault of yours. Does he have enough money to survive without working? I guess not.. Greedy and stupid…Man I’m mad…and he’s a mature man

      • Rastafari
        January 21, 2014

He only looks like he’s mature. People as such are the ones who create and continue inflamed, illegal activity, after being deported to their country. He is one of them that would come home and continue his immature behavior. His photo should be posted at every post office, both airports, and every police station in Dominica, as a criminal!

Hello and good evening to you.

Well I am very angry because this man had a good job and he just embarrass our people. I remember the original report of this incident and I am surprised that they only fined him. I say put him in jail for five years because I have no sympathy for him or people like him.

Is it because of “poverty and unemployment” why he did that? Was it Skerrit who told him to do so? Hmmmm…… Dominicans have bad ways and have been doing their foolishness and crimes all the time and everywhere. STOP making excuses and always blaming government. Yes I know no one said anything bout government BUT something of you are always quick to give reasons why “criminals” do what they do which always fall back on the PM so i’m taking infront.

DNO, this is your site and I cannot tell you how to run things. However, in my opinion, this story is not as important as allegations made by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, concerning the opposition using drug money to finance their campaign. This is of national interest and I don’t understand why you did not put it out. To the best of my knowledge Skerrit made that statement last week Thursday in his home village of Vieille-Case during the same time he inaugurated his aunt and adopted mother Stella leblanc, as chairperson of the village council. Strangely enough you reported that part of the meeting and you also told us about the war of words between Skerrit and Dr. Fontaine, but you forgot I guess to tell us about the ‘Drug money’ statement of Skerrit. So please tell us about it because after all, it was made by the Prime Minister of Dominica which means he has personal information and therefore we need to ask questions. So please put it out DNO so the public could see. I thank you DNO
