Dominican in BVI granted bail for assaulting two men

BVI NEWS ONLINE: A Dominican man charged with unlawful and malicious wounding and wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm was granted bail in the sum of $65,000 signed surety when he appeared in the Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday morning.

Danny Benjamin will have to report on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays at the Road Town police station, surrender his passport and was ordered to stay away from the bar the incident occurred.

It is alleged that Benjamin was involved in a fight at the West End bar which left two men injured – one sustaining a fractured skull. The incident happened on July 8, 2010 at about 9:25 pm.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Benjamin and one of the men were involved in an altercation at the bar. It is alleged he left and returned with a machete, and in a struggle which ensued, two men were assaulted.

Benjamin, 23, will have to return to court on August 20, 2010, where the matter is set for report.

Herbert McKenzie, of Orion Law represented the defendant for the bail application hearing.BVI New

THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND INSANE! That is why i do not believe everything I read on the news because they never seem to have all the facts. Anyone could get arrested and charged until they show up in court before the magistrate where the truth is being told and a judgment is made, then we will know whether the person is guilty or not. One thing I have learn’t is that the police need to have their facts straight before they present their statements to the court and not just say things to make themselves look good when they cannot solve their cases due to lack of evidence. As far as I know the case is still under investigation and bail was not $65,000 but $35,000. Therefore I am wondering how much truth is in the news these days. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

the time it took him to go get the machete he should reconsider(sometimes it is better to be called coward)he could be the one nursing the fractured skull or maybe he could even get killed ..

To Response Reader, in your own words: “chop them man abroad….”we doh already have a bad name all around nah?” That is why they have to impose visa restrictions on us everywhere

Well my response to you, although you don’t deserve one, is; I hope there’s a VISA RESTRICTION against YOU, Response Reader. You don’t belong in any man’s Country. You don’t even belong in Dominica if that’s where you were born. If you’re were born elsewhere that’s EXACTLY where you should remain.

How could you be so INSANELY IGNORANT?

Do we need more bad names?

No wonder some people hate to say they’re Dominicans.

And NO, I’m not one of those people. I’m proud to say I’m a Dominican but I’m ashamed of your behavior.
