He then moved to the United States to pursue a doctorate in history at the prestigious Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, once again on a scholarship.
A prolific writer Andre moved in Canada in 1984 and from humble beginnings went on to study law. He is now a Justice at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton, Ontario.

Congrates Hostel boy. We are proud of you as child of the 70’s who took interest of their country.
Go Doc. If the TV station think that it should big you up,all power to you Sir. They are praising you for your great success but some of your own people trying to pull you down. Tpical Dominicans.
God bless you brother.
Keep up the good work Dr. Andre. Thank you for not abandoning your country.
Congratulations to you Dr Andre, May the Almighty continue to Bless and Protect you, and to all the haters our there, Who God Bless No Man Curse,, Dr Andre’s accomplishment came from the Lord, once again God Bless you and keep up the good job, continue making us proud, when growing up in DA , Dominicans were called (Dominican Whale Family) i was always wondering why, as times goes by i come to really why, and that is some Dominicans do not appreciate what is there’s, especially when individuals migrate to other countries and accomplished what they wanted to accomplish in life
Correction, Lennox Lewis born in the UK, United Kingdom, not the USA,
Dr. Andre you make us very proud. I am glad you identify yourself as a Dominican. Keep up the good work. You deserve all the flowers you now getting. But some of our own people jealous of what you ha ve done. Dont worry wif them.
Congratulations Dr Andre.. God’s blessings!
large up
Andre was born in Curacao but grew up in Dominica. So how that made him a Dominican? my kids born in the UK if i take them to Dominica for a few years does that make them Dominicans?
Don’t be a hater. I tell my daughter that she is Dominican even though she was born in Canada… Come on people relax
I akm happy for Irvine’s success, but I observe everytime he takes a cr&%, he makes sure everybody knows about it.
THEM SCHOLARS ARE ONLY DOMINICANS WHEN THINGS GOING GREAT FOR THEM PERSONALLY……. THESE GUYS NOT DOMINICANS ……..
WWHO CARES OF YOUR LIFE IN CANADA???
” Good grace” don’t hate learn to appreciate others success…….
We dominicans need to appreciate what is ours, Jamaicans all over the world are researching wealthy Blacks, in the USA, Canada and the UK to see if they are from Jamaicans roots, for which they are proud, regardless if they were born in Jamaica or not, example Lennox Lewis, born in the USA, half Dominican and half Jamaican, mother moved to Canada, whenever his is being interview all he keep saying is that he is Jamaican, so Dum-in-a-can should be very proud of Dr. Irving W. Andre being featured as a Dominican during Black History Month, Dr Andre and other Dominicans residing outside Dominica are the ones marketing the Island out there, whenever are Dominica mention that they are from Dominica, the reply from whoever is oh do you speak, and I just came back from your country only to know that it is the Dominica Republic, so to your forks in DA, if Dr Andre is not a Dominican so is Skerrit
get a life
on his wall he has pictures of him growing up in Dominica he has pictures of his family in national creole wear.. what is wrong with u boss man.. ohhhhhhh i know what u jealous of the man.. see that… go get your own life fada
That what I am saying. Why all the hatred and jealousy.. Irvin is a Dominican even if he was bornin Curacoa. He grew up in Dominica… attended the Dominica Grammar School .. I was privileged to be in his class.
I am sure he has done more for this country than you who was born here and stayed here. Yes a lot of talking you have done and screaming (It is bad writng ettiquette to write in uppercase – You are screaming but I guess that is what you want to do – Sream since you seem to be jealous of the man’s achievements)
Dr Andre congratulations for all of your achievements … I know you were brilliant since our days at DGS. Also there are all the other guys – Kelsick, Delsol, and all the others.
Those who cannot praise say nothing.. Keep your peace and say no negative or hateful words.
sad sad commentary
I sense deep jealousy.
Drop that black mentality of never wanting good for your black brothers/sisters.
Who cares that he was not born in Dominica. He was nutered in Dominica. He values and principals were learned in Dominica. Most important is that he sees himself as Dominican.
Congratulations to him, and may he continue to greater achievements.
Congratulations Sir, You continue to make us proud!!
What an honor it is for me to know Dr. Andre and to have watched his meteoric rise that began in Portsmouth during the 70s.
Dr. Andre makes a most significant point when he challenges us (Blacks) to not use our legacy of slavery to “explain away” our failure to achieve at the highest level. But in fact to use our God-given talents and skills to forge ahead and to negate the vestiges of that onerous institution.
Sincerest congratulations on your accomplishments, Dr. Andre, and may the spirits of our forefathers continue to guide you.
Congrats Andre and thanks for our showing how God makes humble people like yourself become exalted.
This is an outstanding achievement . You have made us proud!
A humble, devoted, dedicated and courageous, husband, father, justice and Dominican. Congrats Justice Irving Andre, Kathy and the entire Andre Family. I am priviledged to call you friend.
