Four arrested in drug bust off Fond Cole coast

Four men have been arrested during what officials say was a major drug bust off the coast of Fond Cole on Saturday morning.

Police Public relations officer Sergeant Kent Matthew said the coast guard patrols of the police force intercepted two men of Massacre, one of Kingshill and another of New Town in two open keel boats powered by outboard engines.

“The incident occurred at 7 am on Saturday at sea, 5 miles west of Fond Cole. The men were in possession of 13,500 grams of cannabis, the approximate value of which is $327, 500,” he said.

He said the drug is believed to have been imported from St, Vincent.

“All four men have been arrested on suspicion on having to committed drug related offenses. The two boats have also been taken into custody,” he said.

okay!, They always quick to have some exorbitant figure for a “street value”.

Dominica wish it had weed that looked or smoked remotely close to what is in the picture so that the tourists would have a real reason to stay over.

Uuummm Dominica has little or no work ……. hello? What are people on a whole supposed to do sit and wait and starve? Or should they start planting fruits and veggies to sell at a market with no people to sell to? Or to sell to the non existant intermediary between local farmers and markets? Oh no i have a better idea …… maybe they should sit and wait to see if once grown there is would be a means for export? Please. All this jesus and god talk to save the country ummm do you ppl realize that drugs have been here on this earth way before the word religion ever existed? (Dont answer cuz you dont know) Anyways i feel for DA yeh cuz we have to go to these means to provide and live well but hey if you werent doing it someone else would. And if this shit would just be legalized then it could be taxed …. money dominica would be the travel destination of the caribbean…. money (Do you know what that would do for tourism? Our economy? Hellooooo!!!) I say stop with the stupid rejoicing cuz two hungry men got caught take your heads out of your butts and get real.

      September 19, 2011

so why is it that when these guys take a chance and get through they don’t leave that ricsky life and invest the money in some thing better? instead they go for a bigger shipment. the effective word there is greed and that is the price you pay for being too greedy. already you make so much in a wrong way causing so many lives to go astray yet you continue. that is just greed and wickedness and now you shall pay the price.GOD IS NOY A POLICE. GOD IS HELPING THE POLICE. so you think is GOD that helping them drug men to have safe shipments ? Is the devil that tempting them more and more untill they lose everything.I am sure that you understand what i have said. EDUCATION IS NOT COMMON SENSE.

      September 19, 2011

@ Natasha …It is illegal in our country. There are parts of the world where it is legal and there are parts where it is used as a Medicinal Herb.. but we all know that these guys were not goin to use it for medicine. So the police officers are doing their jobs but capturing these guys.

Now Rastaman 137 if the police decide that they going to sell it then the hand of God will be upon them.. cause how can you arrest and charge a man for doing something illegal and you doing it to? Is it an issue of DON”T DO BUT LET ME DO in Dominica?

Thats not right and its about time we start STANDING UP and SPEAKING against these things.

    Desperate men do desperate things.

I don’t get it… is it that these young men don’t want to work or do they just love the quick money scheme?! Men risking their lives for weed.. weed brings money and love money is the root of evil.

Its just a shame. just a shame!!!

I hope after their case is done and the weed has been seen as evidence that the Drug Officers do the right thing with it.

      • Hahaha
        September 20, 2011

Ummm at 767 blow me ….. I wasnt specifically commenting about the issue i was responding to a comment. If you didnt have money and no means to make it legally like by getting a job which is so hard in Dominica what would you do? Grow dasheen? Or risk your life not doing anything and die slowly? Oh but there is also one more option to sell your ass. Well me myself i prefer pushing some weed to sustain myself and take care of my family than doing any of the above. You seem to be living in a world different from most dominicans, who go to school and cant get a job, lots of knowledge put to no good use. And its not crap its reality maybe your not living it but many many dominicans are. GET REAL
