A Glanvillia man has been slapped with a $6,000 fine after pleading guilty in court on Tuesday, to a charge of possession of a firearm.
The court was told that a 12 gauge shotgun was found in the trunk of Davan Paul’s car by members of the Police Task Force, Drug Squad and Canine Unit on September 1, 2012.
Reports are that the lawmen were executing a search warrant on Paul’s premises when he was asked if a parked car belonged to him. The defendant admitted the car was his and that the gun was in the trunk.
The gun was retrieved but Paul told the officers that it belonged to to a policeman called “Tino.”
He was arrested and brought to police headquarters.
Zena Dyer, attorney for Paul, told the court that the policeman known only as “Tino” admitted to the other police officers to owning the firearm and that he had not returned to take the gun from Paul because he was in an accident.
Dyer claimed that her client was not guilty of the offence because of the circumstances in the matter and stated that he was unaware of the penalties attached to the offence.
However Magistrate Candia George informed Paul that he had appeared in court on a similar offence before and this was a disadvantage to him.
She warned him against such behaviour in the future.
WELL AT PRESENT THE NEWS IS CIRCULATING THAT MR Tino Victor of Vieille Case has been terminated from the “Police Force”.Speak good and do good and good will follow you.I think you learn a lesson now TIMO….OR NEMO…
Tino watch your back and be smart; because of your no nonsence approach you have made lots of enemies who would want to see your down fall.
d police man not legit, he’s an acting o
A big man like u man? Alas davo I feel your pain I never knew you were involved in these.that is d work of the devil. Davo when you see people like that in their bull not to involve yourself.mister them is pay as u go police .chance girl dat dede.I cannot see d police
POLICE always try telling you, ‘don’t take the law into your own hands.’When a crime is committed, it seems like the police always have some advance knowledge on the situation, allowing them time fix up. I’m following up a crime that alleged to place at the La Plaine Police Station involving a minor. So far what I’m seeing is the transfer of officers. I really want to know if that is all that is goin to be done. ‘police’ always talk about HUSH MONEY!!!!!!
Well i go follow that one closely. I want to know who Tino’ is. I want to know if Tino had a license for the said gun. I want to know how long ago he left the gun with Paul. Where is TINO? Most of all, what is being done about Tino’s name being called in such a low shameful connection. ANOTHER REASON WHY I NA LIKE POLICE. Don’t do, let me do.
The interesting thing is to know who Tino was on the bike with when he crashed. That would explain why is Davo he gave the gun to hold. Now Ma Dyer explain that one.
very interesting. perhaps someone could tell us.
Dear Mr. Commissioner,
Kindly souplay conduct an internal investigation into this matter ASAP and if the Officer Tinto is found in breach of the police regulation fire him immediately. After the firearm incident with Former Officer Tyson the police force cannot tolerate rogues within its ranks who seem hell bent on supplying guns to their “frenemies”.
Once again, I call for an “overall” investigation of the rank and file in an effort to purge the police force of all the ongoing corruption etc and bring back the trust and good name that the police once enjoyed under O.N Philip (deceased), Ensley Pierre and for a brief period Simon Darroux.
You Mr. Commissioner have gotten a lot of information from the public since you got into office so no need to say that you do not know the rouge cops in the CDPF. Two attorneys in the DPP’s office and another attorney in private practice (from Wesley- Not Richards) are prime candidates for the team of investigator since they are all former, well respected police officers. In addition, you have former high ranking officers like Mr. Lucky and Mr. Alfred who served with dignity and I am sure will do justice to the name of the CDPF if included in the team. You cant do it alone so ask for help. I will be following this development very closely.
Assertive, NOT Agressive!
I just don’t get it. Why did he have Tino’s gun and why was he charged when Tino admitted to other police officers that the gun belong to him (Tino)? If someone has to be charged I would think it has to be Tino or both.
Come on Rascalfari. Our people are being destroyed by drugs and guns. This guy should get 5 years jail plus a fifty thousand dollar ($50,000:00 fine, for illegal possession of a firearm. It is time the laws are changed. Let the lwas be in tune with the times.
The allegations against the police”Tino” should seriously be investigated and if true,
he should be fired
And yes I am Rastafari.
Some people need to be careful what they say and stop running their mouth saying as they please. Get the facts straight. I mean i know this man and he owns a business so he might as well protect himself from all the lazy ass good for nothing dominicans that go around robbing business places all around the island. I get so mad when i see all these people writting crap on dno especially about people and things they don’t know about. What the task force need to do is go and pick up and jail the real criminals like blacks that full of guns and always hanging around the man place trying to rob him and the glanvillia people like myself and give hard working people like davo a dam break….what all you know stpppppppppppps……
Tino is an asset to the force so there must be some explanation for this. If there is a crime no one can solve they call in Tino to take a look and in no time cases are closed. Because of tino’s humility he has declined all offers for promotion because it is his will to remain in the ‘ranks’ where the real work is done. There must be some mix up somewhere with this shot gun thing.
I agree with you MYSTICAL…he is a big asset the them and they knows that.
Mystical, I am not sure if you know tino. Tino is a special constable who likes to raise his hand, his legs and weapon on civilians.I see you talking about ranks and promotion.good luck to tino. Learn to use your body parts less and your head more
Another twist to your comment is he knows what goes on because he is deeply involved? ASSet my A…….
MYSTICAL
what promotion you talking about there nuh. You forget Tino is a Special Constable? Like, a rent-a-cop nuh..I mean he working well for true, even better than some full time officers but, it doh have promotion from that rank.
Well i understood at some point in time that due to the good feedback from his fellow officers in Possie and letters from the public that they were going to place him as a full time officer with rank of corporal so it would fast-track him to take the sergents exam. He is destined for great things that Tino.
is he a policeman
skerrit skerrit skerrit skerrit. Very good. Something is definitely happening.
Tino for commissioner. Tino! Tino! where are you?? Thats ma Dyer at her very best and it works every time. Just Blame the police for planting Evidence. Smfh”.
A few years ago Commissioner and PM were both preaching zero tolerance for guns and gun crimes, and giving people maximun sentence. Right now these guys are being caught and sometimes you don’t even hear it in the news. Its the same drug money that’s buying the police and the government. STUPESSSSSS
How was Ma Dyer client unaware of the penal try when he had been in court for a similar offense? Dem lawyers are not tired of using ridiculous excuses. I hope Tino will assist him in paying the $6000.
$6000 is pocket money my padna, whats yur stress, possie man yu talking about wee, eh eh
Let me guess Tino must bea red flag waving porssie dude. Wouldn’t be surprise he got in through a politician.
Tino ..mmmm that police there should be investigated. That police man disgust me
Tino you make it sound like you left a spade or an old pair of boots in his car. That’s a fire arm. Guess you haven’t yet grown up. You are not in the cadet corps nor at pss. Grow up, live and learn.
Is there a police man called “Tino”?
yes
NO! NEVER DID THE COURSE
You serious? Why would somebody be carrying a 12 gauge in there trunk, besides wanting to kill someone? 6000 dollars.. smh
To protect his business from robbers……….Duh……
Tino should know better, he does not belong on the force. That is nonsense!
DNO, the word is “gauge” not “guage”
Dominica have 2 much crooked cops!!! At there home for task force to go and search for drugs
Mrs Dyer ignorance of the law is no excuse u know that
well well well, the chicken is coming to roost; the police/drug boys/ganstar informer is going down!! every dog has its day boy tino, i know davo wouldnt go down alone, he shouldnt… you know he is the big kingping of possie and glanvillia and he have your gun? ou bell la.. i hope ma dyer doh miss him
shupes mind your bizniz and leave tino n davo alone the court will do its job …..possie ppl just like to see ugly bad mind ……everybody make mistake ….CAST A STONE NUH
So what is goiing to happen to police officer “Tino”. The Commissioner behaving like the force is his backyard I hope he will investigate “Tino” and suspend him.
Ou sot na? WHO THE HELL IS “TINO”. Doesn’t it occur to you that this is a ficticious name just for a chance at offering a “defence” in this matter? Could you have a police to TRUST you with a firearm and you only know him as “TINO”, what kind of friendship is that? Stop putting unnecessary pressure on the Commissioner and think things through before making such BASELESS COMMENTS!
Apparantly I was the one who is the “ou sot na” as it turned out the story is true and there is infact an officer known as ‘TINO” who is named Tino Victor. I wish to apologize to the readers for having misled you into beleiving that ‘Tino” may have been a FICTICIOUS name/character. I am truly sorry and promise to be more careful next time!
Blessed love!!!!!!!
Suspend him!!!!!!!!!! This police officer should be permanently expelled from the police force inprisoned
and inprisoned sorry
WOW, I could only imagine if this guy was caught with a spliff. He would probably get jail time and a fine. A 12 gauge shot gun, no biggie, no harm done. But then and again, this is Dominica so I don’t expect any justice.
Man, he was found with a 12 gauge ( admin. pls. note not “guage”) shotgun for which he had no licence. Whether it was ‘Tino’s, Nino’s or “nobody-knows” gun is immaterial. Too may fairy tales being concocted in court. Just own up and take the wrap.
Out TINO gooo………………………………………………………………
Tino more safe dan me and you. Tino may just be well connected. That revelation doh going nowhere.
