Police have charged a Grand Bay man in connection with a robbery at Sukie’s gas station in Newtown.
46-year-old Kelvin Alexander of Grand Bay, residing in Canefield, has been charged with the crime.
Police say $335 was stolen during the incident.
Alexander is expected to appear in court on Friday, August 30.
Reports are that between the hours of 9:00 am and 10:00 am, on Monday, August 26, a lone robber with a helmet and a mask on a grey scooter, entered the station, held up the female gas attendant.
She was robbed of money at gunpoint while at the cash register and the robber made escaped on the scooter which was parked nearby.
The police later found the scooter and a helmet not far from the petrol station.
Alexander is not a stranger to the law.
He was charged for aggravated burglary stemming from an incident at Western Union on 2nd February, 2012.
It is reported that he and another man from Grand Bay stole $218,695.91 from the establishment using a shot gun.
He is currently on bail for that offense.
Ehhh Ben Wey… even criminals have it tough in these hard economic times. Thats why I am calling on all thieves to vote UWP, so they would be able to get a job and stop stealing.
This Guy is a repeat offender. I said earlier in the week – SUCH CRIMES INVOLVING GUNS THE PERPETRATOR MUST NOT BE GRANTED BAIL. IF THE LAW DOES NOT PERMIT THEN AMEND IT.
This guy must be charged for:
1. ROBBERY
2. TRESPASS – because he entered the premises with violent and unwelcoming intentions which undermined his right as a member of the public to enter such premises
3. Assault
4. possibly attempted murder – he entered with violent intentions -even with shooting to kill to make good his escape (harder to pin on him but could be reasonably argued)
If any lawyer comes before the presiding judge with an argument that “he pleaded guilty and did not waste the court time and is a good guy” this should be viewed by the Judge as CONTEMPTUOUS TO THE COURT AND A VEXATION OF SPIRIT, an insult to the Court and a flagrant disregard for jurisprudence.
If this guy has children, I just pray that God blesses them, keep them and provide for them. As a nation we can only comfort them, guide them and teach them to follow a different path. If he has children REACH OUT TO THEM – they are the ones who need protection.
hmmm why is my friend Omisie have to to with that if they say he do a crime and have no proof he did it and the looking to place him that crime i do not thing that will work so DNO please stop but people name on without their permission… and how show is kliven that do the crime just putting blame on people police offices
Because Alexander has rights which seem to be more important than the collective rights of the wider community, he must now get the best lawyer here (we know them), go to the High Court if the Low Court refuse bail and get the Judge to bail him. He is then free to go to any other business place and terrorize and God forbid even kill legally employed citizens all because he has rights which appears to be significantly more important to the collective rights. A Bail Act, does not appear to be important to the authorities
Some judge just going to let him out on bail again. hope the next persons he rob is the lawyer representing him and the judge.
trust me
real the pirate of the caribbean!
The law should have dealt with him from the Western Union robbery. His dad will not be able to help him out this time round. Lets wait and see how the judge is going to deal with this second offence being on bail means you should not deal with any other offenses but to stay clean.
but the person that put him on bail aself well wicked.
stupesssssssssssssssss
boy when they bail you voleh again ehh is gutts they have but the third time you might be dead for sure
never under estimate the power of a theef.mr move from $218.695.91 in 2012 to $335.00 in 2013
That is to show how things are getting bad for those thief.
Yeah? even thieves have it bad lol! He has to take a Volei’s cut from $218,695 and settle for $300 plus
He is out on bail for robbery and he is arrested again for robbery, they should denied him bail he belongs behind him.
He is not from grand bay.
The sad truth is that we don’t have the facilities to keep all these alleged offenders on remand. The answer must be that such cases are tried before the courts much and much quicker so proper sentencing can take place. As it is, people on bail are given the opportunity to continue their illegal activities and make money, especially in the case of drug trafficking.
I would just kill dose dat
This Guy is a repeat offender! As I had commented earlier in the week – NO BAIL FOR CRIMES INVOLVING A GUN. AMEND THE LAW IF NECESSARY!!
Charges
1.ROBBERY,
2.ASAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON (physical contact is not necessary to count as asault,
3.TRESPASS-because he entered the premises with no good and welcoming intentions but violated the right as a member of the public to enter such premises,
4. ATTEMPTED MURDER – he would shoot to kill to make good his escape (harder to prove that itr was his intention but can be argued favorably)
If any lawyer brings any argument that “he pleaded guilty to the court and did not waste the courts time so the court should be lenient” must be viewed by the court as CONTEMPTUOUS AND A VEXATION OF SPIRIT, An insult to the institution of the court and a flagrant disregard of jurisprudence.
If He has Children I just hope and pray that God bless them, and keep them and provide for them. As a nation we can comfort them and show them a better way than trhe path chosen by their dad. REACH OUT TO THEM.
Kudos to the commonwealth of dominica police force keep the criminals on their toes
Is that the same guy who was involved in the Western Union Robbery?
I not from Grandbay but what is DNO’s fascination with Grand Bay? Why are they highlighting posts that mention Grand Bay? What happen, this is how you all get your kicks? You instigate arguments and fights? Sick people you are I say.
oh no kelvin oh no kelvin weres ur brains gone to 46 old no more changes for u no sence of your life shame in ur kids eyes
i hope the police ask him for the gun too
The penalty for robbing/stealing:1st offence:cut off one finger, 2nd offence: cut off another, and so on. It will be a Trade Mark for those ‘SAKWAY VOLEUR’.
Way to go! What a Dumb A.. criminal lol, from $218,695.00 to $335.00. How can you be on bail for such a hefty heist and then compound your legal troubles for $300 plus dollars?
Ohh, and I forget Newtown.
Trolol y is fondcole people na.? We that more hungry na know what you sayin
Leave it to a Grand bay/Fondcole/Tarish pit people to do some stupid s like that.
umm hum retarded brand communities still. All u so that are the undercover voley. hehehe (Sarcastic) stupid..
First let me tell u I respect ur opinion. But I do not believe people commit crime bcause they were born in a certain village. When one Dominican commits a crime it affects the entire country.
Eh heh, and how come when is good news all you quick to claim the praise for GrandBarians? Zor toh mauvais!!!
You are an epic example of stupidity at its best. Pampoto. Time is longer than twine.
You are an epic example of stupidity at its best. Pampoto. Time is longer than twine.
yes u dumb dumb… it have more criminals living large in Morne Daniel and St. Aroma and them other bougoise places. You call them Economic hit men. Learn something instead of being ignorant!!
Hold on strong my peeps. This too, shall pass. We have been called every negative word in the dictionary.
This is idle talk. All areas, sooner or later experience crimes. They are no exception.
Do your utmost to be kind in words and deeds to your fellow Dominicans. God will bless you for that.
one thing allu no where allu going
Next time he should rob the prime minister’s office and then they will take that guy seriously. Come on…that same Kelvin Alexander robbed the Western Union in Roseau and here he is out of jail robbing a gas station. That man is a notorious volley and he will continue robbing people. I don’t know if it’s a curse they put on him
So last year it was $218,695.91 and he got out….This year is $335 you doe think he will get out?
Stupess 3,2,1—> Granted Bail!
Ok so what about the politicians!
Let one of them break into your house and go blame it on the politicians nuh….stups.
these cases take too long to call. Period. change the laws please. Lazy politicians and law makers. oh bring back the death penalty. forget about human rights for the murders. what about the human rights of the person who are murdered.
according to lady star…..OUT ON BAIL….tsk tsk tsk…but things were bad for him to move from such a grand amount to that small amount…those criminals need to be placed behind bars…to many of them walking the streets…out on bail, out on bail, out on bail…ridiculous
So why is he a Grand Bay man living in Canefield, and not just a Canefield resident?
i said the same thing as I started reading the news
Because Grand Bay people like to be identified. There you have it.
Dominica is Dominica. Dominica has one citizenship. He must have been born in Grand Bay. He moved to Canefield. Residing in Canefield does not eliminate his place of birth and where he resided for most of his earlier years. This is why he is identified as such and always will be even though he moved elsewhere in Dominica. His birth certificate indicates Grand Bay and rightfully he originated from there.
If it were someone who was born abroad, previously resided there and moved to Dominica, it would be identical, “Originally from or previous resident of…, now residing in Dominica…
Take the gas by sukie and pour it on him, crack a matches and burn the forker to death. Dame volie
@pinky you make my night. lemme see if he getting bailed again. Cases taking too long to call so dem as sqaured getting bail and see what they doing.
so the man was in a previous robbery and got bail. now he is in a second? way is he even out from the previous offense? well I guess this is the dominica law…bail bail bail for everything.
if only it was his second .. that’s what all u know about mr is known just has been caught twice..
Just like the guy who kill the other one carnival time and was recently charged for attempted murder.
Kelvin you again boy……
bail him again sancre tebe boohoe, doeno wat set of aars wholes that runing the system
Sackway volier.
Bail should not be granted, period.
No mercy, no pity, he’s a hardened criminal who needs to be incarcerated for a very long time.
You’re tough enough to do the crime, get in the slammer and serve the max time.
Ok, so my question is, if he was involved in the robbery of western Union last yr, what is he doing out?
He should have been in prison to avoid further robberies!!!
This is just the concern Behanzin had and he was taking things into his own hands to protect the public.
But our present administration undermine him so he could not fulfill his duties. This problem of putting criminals back on the street will stop when these criminals show up at the judges and ministers homes and hold them at gunpoint.
Now is only the poor people suffering mentally trauma like the attendant from the gunpoint hold up. Therefore our current administration don’t care and will not do anything to change the laws concerning bail to protect the poor people.
What I will say to the powers that be……..Soon no walls will be too high for these criminals.
99 days for the thief, one day for the guard.
Well this one intend on taking his 99 days eh. Aggravated robbery not once and he out. He is just one of many i believe who are out there. Having committed one crime and out there ready to commit more. Thieves do not have feel that there is any punishment for the act in Dominica. Too many robberies. Stop say is poor them man poor so they have to rob. I grew up seeing nuff mountainsides with gardens, now everywhere is just bush. The only thing that some of them can grow is ganja.
Robbery with a weapon while on bail for another aggravated robbery. Bail should be revoked and his a remanded to the state prison. Where is “You Follow”. It is time that this non-sense stop.
The same thing that happened the last time he was arrested is the same thing that is going to happend this time around….NOT A DARN THING!!!!
One set of man dat doing all dem crime eno my brother. dats y anybody with a police record should not get bail. but again dem court system just take sooon long they must let dem man go free up, bcuz if they not guilty they would have spend so much time in jail for nating. POLICE investigate dem crime faster to keep dem guys off our streets.
grandbay again!
quick to say grand bay again, I hope you commented on the article which highlighted the cxc scholars from Grand Bay.And I hope you commented “Batibou again!!” for each article posted referencing the robberies going on there…How many times has a Grand Barian been on the news in negative light for the year? #Ignorant!!!(singing==clean up your backyard first)
I rest my case!
Yes…you got a problem with that? Grand Bay did not send him to steal. It’s just a bad habbit that guy has and he will never stop. Or, maybe he will stop when something worst happens to an innocent person. I don’t understand why that guy is out on bail.
grand-bay alone all u ppl can press on .. ppl every where can steal, kill, thats y good ppl in a community get bad name u must not judge ppl by there community .. it’s not nice .. pochie mon kah tebe’ zor..mongol
Do not be sarcastic. Leave Grand Bay alone!
Great job on the quick capture..give him a HAARRSSHH sentence. especially seeing he is not a first time offender. he have a habit for stealing.
Great job by the Police!! It’s just unfortunate that some judge is going to send him out on bail for armed robbery by next week.
