Grand Bay man charged gas station robbery

Kelvin Alexander of Grand Bay

Police have charged a Grand Bay man in connection with a robbery at Sukie’s gas station in Newtown.

46-year-old Kelvin Alexander of Grand Bay, residing in Canefield, has been charged with the crime.

Police say $335 was stolen during the incident.

Alexander is expected to appear in court on Friday, August 30.

Reports are that between the hours of 9:00 am and 10:00 am, on Monday, August 26, a lone robber with a helmet and a mask on a grey scooter, entered the station, held up the female gas attendant.

She was robbed of money at gunpoint while at the cash register and the robber made escaped on the scooter which was parked nearby.

The police later found the scooter and a helmet not far from the petrol station.

Alexander is not a stranger to the law.

He was charged for aggravated burglary stemming from an incident at Western Union on 2nd February, 2012.

It is reported that he and another man from Grand Bay stole $218,695.91 from the establishment using a shot gun.

He is currently on bail for that offense.

Ehhh Ben Wey… even criminals have it tough in these hard economic times. Thats why I am calling on all thieves to vote UWP, so they would be able to get a job and stop stealing.

This Guy is a repeat offender. I said earlier in the week – SUCH CRIMES INVOLVING GUNS THE PERPETRATOR MUST NOT BE GRANTED BAIL. IF THE LAW DOES NOT PERMIT THEN AMEND IT.

This guy must be charged for:
    1. ROBBERY
    2. TRESPASS – because he entered the premises with violent and unwelcoming intentions which undermined his right as a member of the public to enter such premises
    3. Assault
    4. possibly attempted murder – he entered with violent intentions -even with shooting to kill to make good his escape (harder to pin on him but could be reasonably argued)

If any lawyer comes before the presiding judge with an argument that “he pleaded guilty and did not waste the court time and is a good guy” this should be viewed by the Judge as CONTEMPTUOUS TO THE COURT AND A VEXATION OF SPIRIT, an insult to the Court and a flagrant disregard for jurisprudence.

If this guy has children, I just pray that God blesses them, keep them and provide for them. As a nation we can only comfort them, guide them and teach them to follow a different path. If he has children REACH OUT TO THEM – they are the ones who need protection.

Because Alexander has rights which seem to be more important than the collective rights of the wider community, he must now get the best lawyer here (we know them), go to the High Court if the Low Court refuse bail and get the Judge to bail him. He is then free to go to any other business place and terrorize and God forbid even kill legally employed citizens all because he has rights which appears to be significantly more important to the collective rights. A Bail Act, does not appear to be important to the authorities

The law should have dealt with him from the Western Union robbery. His dad will not be able to help him out this time round. Lets wait and see how the judge is going to deal with this second offence being on bail means you should not deal with any other offenses but to stay clean.

The sad truth is that we don’t have the facilities to keep all these alleged offenders on remand. The answer must be that such cases are tried before the courts much and much quicker so proper sentencing can take place. As it is, people on bail are given the opportunity to continue their illegal activities and make money, especially in the case of drug trafficking.

This Guy is a repeat offender! As I had commented earlier in the week – NO BAIL FOR CRIMES INVOLVING A GUN. AMEND THE LAW IF NECESSARY!!

    Charges
    1.ROBBERY,
2.ASAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON (physical contact is not necessary to count as asault,
3.TRESPASS-because he entered the premises with no good and welcoming intentions but violated the right as a member of the public to enter such premises,
    4. ATTEMPTED MURDER – he would shoot to kill to make good his escape (harder to prove that itr was his intention but can be argued favorably)

If any lawyer brings any argument that “he pleaded guilty to the court and did not waste the courts time so the court should be lenient” must be viewed by the court as CONTEMPTUOUS AND A VEXATION OF SPIRIT, An insult to the institution of the court and a flagrant disregard of jurisprudence.

If He has Children I just hope and pray that God bless them, and keep them and provide for them. As a nation we can comfort them and show them a better way than trhe path chosen by their dad. REACH OUT TO THEM.

    • Justice and Truth
      August 31, 2013

Dominica is Dominica. Dominica has one citizenship. :) He must have been born in Grand Bay. He moved to Canefield. Residing in Canefield does not eliminate his place of birth and where he resided for most of his earlier years. This is why he is identified as such and always will be even though he moved elsewhere in Dominica. His birth certificate indicates Grand Bay and rightfully he originated from there.
If it were someone who was born abroad, previously resided there and moved to Dominica, it would be identical, “Originally from or previous resident of…, now residing in Dominica…

    August 29, 2013

This is just the concern Behanzin had and he was taking things into his own hands to protect the public.
But our present administration undermine him so he could not fulfill his duties. This problem of putting criminals back on the street will stop when these criminals show up at the judges and ministers homes and hold them at gunpoint.

Now is only the poor people suffering mentally trauma like the attendant from the gunpoint hold up. Therefore our current administration don’t care and will not do anything to change the laws concerning bail to protect the poor people.

What I will say to the powers that be……..Soon no walls will be too high for these criminals.
