Local talk show host Lennox Linton is describing a recent judgment against him as “wreckless”, vowing to appeal the matter.
Linton, who has been ordered to pay a fine of $50, 000 for defamation against chartered accountant Keiron Pinard-Byrne, said he is not in agreement with the judgment handed down by High court judge Brian Cottle yesterday.
“I am very shocked at the quality of the judgment. The judge is stating that I remained unapologetic and that his statements were based on facts revealed by his investigation,” he said.
“In my witness statement, every single paragraph of complaints by Pinard-Byrne was dealt with in detail with the facts that led to the statements being made. Justice Cottle made no reference to that and he tells us in the judgment that no evidence was made to lead to establish the truth. Justice Cottle there was evidence but you ignored it,” Linton added.
He said the judgment sounds like a “Tony-Astaphan-ish” judgment.
“This has not ended. He won this battle. The war continues. We are going to appeal,” Linton said.

Reguardless of what political party you support, the bottome line is that you have to be responsible enough and not make reckless statements and accusations with no factual evidence. It’s high time people start paying for their damn mouth and stop spreading hear say.

The court of law is not the airwaves of any radio in Dominica. In a court of law, legal issues are debated and discussed. Political talk is not entertained in OUR court of law, the very same COURT OFLAW THAT LENNOX IS SEEKING TO HAVE HIS DAY – AS HE SEES THINGS LOGICALLY AND POLITICALLY.That is not our court system. it has been tried and proven to work even with its weaknesses. It ought not to pander to the partisam machinations of one over zealous party supporter.
Lennox have every right to appeal. But he must be told that on appeal, the judges will review issues of law and that he cannot reharsh what he said in the court below. The judges will be concerned with whether Judge Brian Cottle used the existing law properly.
Lennox Linton is displaying again his arrogant self. In the history of jurisprudence here, many well trained, brilliant and very well experienced lawyers have argued cases before the court and lost. Senior Counsel Astaphans is one such individual. They have taken their blows and disappointments and have gone on to appeal. they either loose or the decision is over turned. The only lawyer here I have known to berate his colleagues in one fell swoop and take on a judge’s decision in the media which does not come in his favour is the lawyer that Eddison called a “Dun C”. Even then he too has had his say and gone on to appeal and won on the appeal. But here comes, Lennox, the brightest of all luminary, without even one day’s training at a school of legal training (or even a tertiary institution) and knows everything that a judge should know and how an experienced judge should rule – not on legal issues but on what was really socio-political arguments. Lennox’s only qualification in this regard is that he has an unquenchable thirst for the blood of Roosevelt Skerrit – literally.
Lennox is so full of himself. It is as though he cannot go wrong. Everything he says or do has to be the Gospel truth. So who is this duly trained and appointed resident judge to hold a law suit against me. Lennox, with all your brilliance of speech, total command of the English language, political discuss on Q-95 or anywhere else may win you many friends – political friiends, but you better be careful that you and edison does not disenfranchise the Taiwanese. Even if your thousands of “the people” are bankrolling you today. Tomorrow is “Bubbles Day” and “Bubbles” know money – believe me. The court of law is not there to decide on issues the way you want them decided. It is the legal issues that coem before the court that are discussed according to the law. Mr. Linton it is law that is discussed in the court, not emotions, your personal moral values, your in esteemed high ethical standards. Tthese are very subjective depending where you stand on any given day, time or era. Why can’t somebody tell Lennox that. Dun C help me. But again, Dun C was chased out of Judge Cottle’s Couirt because even as a trained lawyer he could not file a proper case on behalf of the former magistrate.

Name Sake- Lennox you explained the whole Lennox Linton senario very well. This guy believes he is Jesus Christ incarnate, just fallen from Heaven and he is the most truthful and honest person in Dominica, and everything he says every one must believe him.
He owned the title of “Chief Justice of the Kangaroo Court” at Q95, and thinks that once Lennox said so it has to be right and truthful. This guy is just full of himself with his BC (Birth Certificate in Law) and has the audacity to challenge Senior Counsel Tony in a Court of Law.
My only regret is that the Judge had to impose a fine on the other parties, but that being said, I’m elated that the Judge has put this guy in his place. Can we expect another Pay-Pay begging AD on DNO?
Shall we encourage him to appeal, bet I do, its not going to be only fifty thousand to the Privy Counsel, and also he has to go through the OECS Court of Appeal. Go full speed Lennox Linton, you will be just fine, trust me.

Linton have what it takes to go and find corruption and when he brings it out he have the facts to support his findings and I will stand with him because I am sick of all the wrong doings and no one cares, look at the case with the police man Mills who couldnt give account for the missing money from the vault and what happend he was find couple thousand dollars and he still kept his job dont you see the injustice so dont ever believe that this Accountant wasnt involved so when the case is appealed and in the second round we will get the rest of the information that we need to make the final judgement because as Mr.Linton said he will be appealing let’s hope it wouldnt take almost nine years.

His task was to present the case as he saw it. You job was to prove “your innocence.” You could not. Simple! This talk of war and battle. He just lost a case in Court for not being factual in his reporting. There is nothing heroic in that, he is a poor journalist who doesn’t have the skills necessary to do the job. He is far from impartial and therefore all his “investigative reports” are biased and flawed from the start.
Lennox lost, because he didn’t have the facts on his side, it is as simple as that. He cannot say what he wants, when he wants, without evidence and get any with it. He should pay-up or shut-up – its his choice.
