Three men who had been charged with murder now have the privilege of spending the Christmas holidays with their families.
Curtis “Shakes” Richards and Andy Prosper were bailed last week after being remanded and charged for murder and conspiracy to murder Allan Bardouille of Newtown, Mannison Thomas of Fond St. Jean and Kenneth Birmingham of Kingshill.
The bodies of the three deceased men were found in a boat belonging to Richards about 26 miles off the coast of Salisbury in early October.
Richards and Prosper were bailed for $500,000 each last Thursday following a bail hearing at the High Court of Justice. Their trial date is set for March 9, 2010.
In another matter, 18-year-old Ricky Angol of Grand Bay, who was charged with the murder of his father Yusif Angol, has also been bailed since his arrest in October.
Angol had allegedly stabbed his father when he attempted to break up a fight between his father and mother on October 7, 2009 at Grand Bay.
In a bail hearing earlier this month the charge of murder was reduced to manslaughter and Angol was bailed for $30,000. Angol’s trial is set for February 2010.
What happened with the March 9th trial – was this reported on?
the law have to watch how they working .long they want to put shakes away but jah say no way .when people do no your buissness they will do or say anything to put you down.
i think the police investigators is making the justice system look like a joke to us. if you don’t have evidence to arrest an accused person why do so charge them and then release them because you are still investigating the case. wat message are we sendind to people who are breaking the law or are planning to do so? am appealing to the police force please take time to do your job and let justice be sereved

I PRAY THAT THE LIGHT OF THE MOST HIGH SHINE ON DA, i hope the season of light, continue to SHINE on DA for a long time, my people are slowly SLEEPING INTO DARKNESS, but JAH LIGHT will guide you through. AMEN.
Just because a person is charged, that does not mean he is guilty
“innocent until proven guilty”
until the jury don’t give its sentence, these men are innocent
this is outrageous to have someone on bail for conspiracy of muder on such low bail and u have people in the jails for drug/robberie offenses serving hard sentences are we sending double standard messages to the people whats wrong with our justice system in d/ca.
HOE, HOE, HOE Merry christmas to both shakes and andy. enjoy the christmas holidays GUYS and be merry with your families. Let me tell the HATERS merry christmas also. HOE, HOE HOE
you cannot touch the anointed. those that despise andy and shakes in the past shall see their favour, in the name of jesus. every power that will contend their devine destiny, shatter in jesus name. you cannot keep a good man down. every cycle of backwardness, break in the name of jesus. the truth will set them free. who are you to judge.

Where is the justice this xmas for the families of the men murdered? well well this is a shame. well they had well paid liars to defend them so anything is possible in Dominica nothing is a surprise now .
Hmmnm a real free for all……hope we like it.
Mr PM that is none sense. You care so much about Dominicans yet you aint addressing these type of issues. How can those men be free. I understand for the angol fella but not the others. So my country come.
Wey wey wey Look who is this damn judge? STUPES I don’t know why they don’t bring back Tyanni to town and head the whole justice department because them things there does really hurt my heart er boy.
Papamet so Dominica justice system is nah. Well I am going to be the first to say that my newly elected PM should look into these matters quickly. Before next election your opposition have to use that against you.
Anyways anyways the judicial sytem in my country needs to be reviewed eh.
I can understand innocent until proven guilty but this is out of hand. Up till now no one can say what happen to that Lestrade case and now the festival murders??????????????????
Magway sa the families of the victims can’t dig up their loved ones and if they do what’s the use……..?
What the hell is wrong with dem people in the judicial system?????????????? Magway sa man
St.Lucia just opened a forensic lab for the OECS yesterday so it will help in crime solving with evidence etc….it can even tell us who the real father is…lol
What is wrong with our judicial system? It seems like murder has been reduced to a minor offence. I hope this does not send the wrong message. Can someone help me understand who is responsible for this? Is it the Judge or the prosecution or just a matter of having the money to poste bail?
SEEMINGLY THIS HAS BECOME A TREND IN DOMINICA THATS WHY I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE IN AN EYE FOR AN EYE AND A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH, BECAUSE THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM IS CRAP.
I guess when you have a lot of money and you powerful anything is possible. Them fellas should be in prison until their case is brought to the court. I guess maybe dem police lacking evidence on dat case or dey mess up the whole thing.
WHAT IS MURDER COMING TO IN OUR BELOVED COUNTRY? BOY IF THE LAW SO COOL WITH MURDER AND MURDERERS PREPAIR FOR THE WORST IN OUR COUNTRY CAUSE MORE PEOPLR WILL KILL. LORD GOD I PRAY THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN.
if all the muders going home for christmas, why not open all the jail doors and release everyone else. we will ask them to check back in after new years day. this not right .how are the families of the deceased supposed to feel?
Correct me if I am wrong but aren’t defendants of murder trials supposed to be denied bail due to the nature of the case and crime?
As far as I am aware this is the norm in several countries including ours.
