The petitioners’ final witness in the ongoing election petition matter, Felix Prosper, spoke to reporters outside the High Court after adjournment this morning saying that he came to testify in the pursuit of justice for Dominica.
“I risked my life, I risked my job and I said I’m coming to help Dominica because I’m not fighting for myself, I am not looking for justice for myself,” he said.
After not being on island for the previous court sittings in the matter, Prosper took the stand as the petitioners’ final witness and was duly cross-examined by Senior Counsel Anthony Astaphan.
He told reporters, “I am looking for justice for my children and for Dominicans, especially the youth. As you can see the economy in Dominica is going down and all of us suffering under this problem. So I had to make an effort. I got a lot of problems to come here because they didn’t want me to leave, they didn’t want me to go. I had to demand and say I’m going down to help my Parl Rep, that is, Mr Ron Green and I’m going to help Dominica.”
Prosper continued, “I’m proud to help Dominica. I don’t care who hate me or who doesn’t hate me, once the Lord is with me, who can be against me? I know I am doing it for Dominica.”
As part of his testimony, Prosper had stated that he knew Petter St Jean as a Deputy Pastor, in direct contrast to the testimony of Pentecostal Pastor Lawrence Degallerie who had said that while St Jean had been converted under his ministry, St Jean did not preach in his church, the church which St Jean habitually attended.
Prosper remarked outside court, “I know Tony Astaphan would always try to doubt me or to twist me but I know that I told the truth and as Mr Petter St Jean was looking at me, I was happy that he was looking at me because I am not lying on him. Petter St Jean knows that he has the passport. He supposed to tell Dominicans the truth. Petter St Jean was one of the best pastors in La Plaine and I used to go to his service and when he used to preach he used to dance on the pulpit and it used to move me and I was once a follower but at some time I had to leave because of certain things in the church but Petter St Jean knows that he was a preacher. Lawrence Degallerie [Pastor of a Pentecostal Church in La Plaine] knows that Petter was preaching and he is denying that. That is a shame for Lawrence [Degallerie]. I’m against Lawrence and God will hold him responsible.”
Prosper is expected leave the country tomorrow to resume his duties on a cruise ship as a utility worker.
The matter involving Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerritt and Education Minister St Jean will continue when court resumes on October 3 at 9AM.

HE WAS A PASTOR. and a damn good one at it too to the point where i used to ask him if he is the one preaching on a given sunday. and if he wasnt i wld not go to church. me, n alot of young pple fr laplaine wld only attend church if mr PETTER ST JEAN was preaching. he only stopped preach got involved in politics. I feel so sorry for my country when I read some of the comments here. Its either the education has failed us or vice versa. A wide cross section of the population is just plain ignorant and lacking adequate knowledge on alot of topics they choose to discuss. It’s all the effects of dirty gutter politics. I blame alot of our politicians for this political ignorance demonstrated here on DNO and on the streets in Dominica.
Here it is that a witness came forward to confirm that he was shown the passport by Mr. St. Jean. An eye witness, coming forward. Extremely significant in this case. The role of the lawyer of the defendant is to now prove that this eye witness is telling a lie. Can he question Peter St. Jean who would dismiss the claim? NO, because the very same lawyer fought hard to prevent he and PM from taking the witness stand.
The very people demonstrating all the ignorance and lack of knowledge were the ones celebrating on and off DNO, when the judge granted Tony’s wish. They celebrated and made fun of the UWP’s case, not knowing that that decision would eventually work against the DLP.
While I do not expect any judgement against Skerrit since we have seen and continue to see the blatant injustice in Dominica, I await to hear just how the judge is going to explain her decision.
In reality, in the civilized world, in the countries where law is not out of order and the people hold elected officials accountable, this case would have been a lost case for PM and his Gang from day one.
This letter written to the embassy in November of 2009 is more than enough evidence. Witness statements are just supporting evidence. Yet still, persons on here are stating that no evidence have been presented. Do they even know the definition of evidence?

Who then is speaking the truth and who is lying? Which one should I believe? Is it Felix Prosper, (the oncetime member of the church but now doesn’t seem to be a believer anymore),Pas. Lawrance Degallerie (God’s servant), or Petter St. Jean, the current minister for education and minister of the gospel?
As a born again believer, I would automatically believe those preachers since they are supposed to be repesenting truth and honesty. However, i really don’t know who is speaking the truth because I didn’t expect to hear belivers, better yet preachers get involved in such a mess to the point where they have people hitting christianity. It’s a shame and very embarassing.
Felix made three statements I want to look at: 1. “I am happy that Petter St. Jean was looking at me because I am not LYING on him.” 2. Petter knows he has the passport and he suppose to tell Dominican’s the TRUTH.”3. “Pas. Lawrance Degallerie knows Petter was preaching and he is DENYING that.”
If these things are true then how could Pas. Degallerie and pas. Petter St. Jean, encourage their young convert , Mr. Skerrit (according to many pastors) to speak the truth when he Skeritt knows they are misleading the nation? How will they recieved as ministers of truth? These are serious questions. As a Dominican, I know many non believers are who love Skeritt are pretending to be supporting St. Jean and Degallerie, but the time will come when they will tell them in their face that they are liars and Christians are liars and will remind them of this case.
St. Jean needs to redeem himself and just admit that he lied. He needs to speak the truth not as a politician, but as a believer. He would be better off to tell us that he knows he has the passport but since he’s been living in Dominica for a number of years and considers himself a Dominican and therefore he did not think a French passport would become an issue. People would understand him and would stand with him. But to hear Prosper say that he has seen the passport and challenges Petter to speak the truth is really disturbing as a Christian.
Furthermore, Peter cannot defend himself by telling Felix Prosper that he is lying and that he never saw his passport.
To those of you that are saying that Felix Prosper did not say anything to help the case is nothing far from the truth. The strongest evidence before any court is an “Eye Witness.” When felix can say (and he is the only one who ever said so) “I have seen his passport” and Petter cannot deny that and Petter’s attorney refused to force him to ask the man to tell the court when he saw it, where he saw it, give a discription of it or nothing of that sort but chose rather to question his reason for being deported, then you know Felix’ evedence is very strong. You all are saying that you expected Felix Prosper to come with further proof but you need to understand that Felix did not have to come with proof because he was not challeged to do so. The question is, why would an experience Senior Counsel not press for evedence. The answer is simple, he knows what you dont know and did not want to open a real bad can of stinking worms.
The animosity that exists in Laplaine amongst the people is shameful and completely out of control. In my 35 years following politics in DA, I have never seen anything like this (Thanks to St.Jean).
Ron Green has been a Pal Rep in Laplaine for a very long time, and this total dismantling of our community never existed during his tenure.
It is incumbent upon St Jean to get my community back as it was before he created this disaster for us.

This is not just a St. jean problem but something that came about since Skeritt became the prime minister. Dominica was never like this under PJ, OJ, Euginia, Edison, Rosie or piere Charles. From the time Skeritt came in power, he devided the entire nation by refusing to engage the communities or village councils to meetings, but chose to meet with his so called groups which is usually comprised of 10 villagers and this group think they can cut style on people because the PM meets wit them instead of the community or village councils. This is a vey sad day for those of us who hail from that once clost knit community of La plaine. This poisonous politics has split our community right down the middle. Today friends, cousins and neighbors are at each other’s throats.
One of my La Plaine boyhood friends called me today from Texas and lamented, ‘La Plaine is on trial.’ I could not agree more. I am saddened by this ugly spectacle.
My only hope is that our community can display its true character again when all is said and done with this case. However, before that can occur, some serious healing and mending must take place. That s what politics does to our small communities and people—divide and destroy them……….

My honest opinion, there is too much lies in that court matter. It is unbelievable how much politics have our pastors lying.
