A 17-year-old male can consider himself lucky after an indecent assault charge leveled against him was dismissed this morning.
The defendant, who had pleaded not guilty, appeared for trial at the High Court but Justice Birnie Stephenson-Brooks ruled that the matter be discontinued following the non-attendance of two key witnesses, the complainant and her mother.
State lawyer Wayne Norde had regretfully requested that the case be dismissed after stating that several unsuccessful attempts were made to reach the witnesses, who have since taken up residence overseas.
“I stand in embarrassment, I must say,” Norde told the court.
Justice Stephenson-Brooks cautioned the accused man before dismissing him.
“Don’t let me see you come back in this court unless you come here as a juror or a witness…. If you want to have this kind of relationship with young ladies get a girlfriend… Make sure you marry her before you have sex with her…” Justice Stephenson-Brooks said.
“You had a brush with the law, leave it as that… Go forth and sin no more…” she continued.
Attorney Peter Allyene represented the defendant.
Nice Warning JUDGE>>>>>
that judge is a a&& cause you cannot buy a car with out test driving it i hope she did not have sex before she get married them like that that breaking ppl marriage and they want to give advise the the man was not guilty thats y the woman and child never show up
I totally agreed with George Bush she pre-judged him before seeing the evidence.
Another thing I hope she practiced what she’s now preaching, by getting married before she had intercourse.
Those judges like to give advise, but those never practice it, they those even go as far as breaking the law sometimes.
Curious it seems that we are the only smart ones here. How can she tell him go forth and sin no more! She was out of line. There is a difference between a crime and sinning. Only people who believe in God accept wrong doings as sins. Where as anyone can be charged with a crime. It’s clear that she already had made her judgment before the facts were head.
@Ginger: he pleaded not guilty so there is no evidence so she could keep such advice. without even hearing the ,matter in court the judge had already ruled him as guilty.amazing ehhhh.
What happened to innocent until proven guilty? I thought he pleaded not guilty so why then is the judge telling him to go forth and sin no more? If he is 17 what was the age of the young lady and at what age was this alleged act committed?
Good advice from the Justice….he can count his lucky stars.
hmmmm…. that was a Good one by the law! nice warning!
