Police are still treating the death of Desmond Roudette as a homicide as they continue their investigations.
This is according to Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Assistant Superintendent Claude Weekes.
Roudette, 72, recently died on the way to the St Joseph Health Centre after a friend found him in a state of physical distress. The man was found at his Coulibistrie home on August 23.
Weekes told Dominica News Online that Roudette may have ingested a poisonous substance.
A postmortem and coroner’s inquest will be conducted.
Cyrus Sebastien, the Coulibistrie resident who was the first to visit Roudette on that fateful morning has since confirmed to DNO that the elderly man was blind.
Oh my this is even worst that he was blind. Someone gave him a poisonous substance to drink or eat. The poor man was helpless and they did that to him? Since he was blind, he certainly was not able to tie himself up. This is the height of wickedness.
Were they or someone fed-up of him and wanted him to die sooner? Did they hate him that much that they wanted him out of the way? Does he have assets someone or some people will benefit from after his death?
I expect whoever was responsible for him and cared for him should be questioned, family and/or friend. His neighbors and all his associates should also be questioned. While they are being questioned and as they respond, carefully scrutinize their faces for guilty clues which may give them away as suspects.
God knows who the culprit or culprits are. Will He forgive them for doing something like this to a man who was vulnerable and depending on them for help? Whoever you are, I say, woe to you!
Blind… and the caretaker is???? and where is this person. I can only imagine that a blind person would indeed need 24hour hands on care from a responsible adult, thus preventing any harm against them wilfully or accidentally.
