Jail time for Anthony Hector

A Grand Fond man with a history of resisting arrest and escaping from police has been jailed.

Anthony Hector pleaded guilty to related charges on May 31, 2012.

He was picked up by the police from the La Plaine district on May 18, 2012.

Hector was placed in police cells and the following day brought out for questioning,  but he escaped from the police station and ran in the bushes.

The police gave chase but Hector made good his escape.

However, later in the week he was pursued and arrested after the police were informed of his whereabouts.

Hector was charged with escaping custody, resisting arrest and stealing a ram goat valued at EC$150.00.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge of theft.

The trial is set for September 5, 2012.

On the charge of resisting arrest and escaping lawful custody he pleaded guilty and was given three months jail sentence each to run consecutively.

Asked what he had to say before sentencing Hector told the court, “I got frustrated in the cell…did not want to escape but was forced into doing so.”

However Magistrate Candia Carette George told him “it’s a habit you have when police arrest you, you always escape. You have done so before and you were sent to jail and yet still you are still doing this, well, the sentence will again be the same…jail”.

Meanwhile, Claxton John Baptiste of 29 Bowers Lane Goodwill has been placed on bail after he pleaded not guilty to a charge of possession of cannabis and possession with intent to supply.

He was arrested on May, 30, 2012 at Potterville with 62 grams of cannabis.

He is represented in the matter by lawyer David Bruney.

Trial is set for August 30, 2012.

I think that if he is arrested again, the Police will have to handcuff him and shackle his ankles.

      @ his only child

Worship, prayer, penance and sacrifice. Pray for him and ask God to change him. If you are a Catholic, give some Holy Masses for him and pray the Holy Rosary. In time, God will change him. Never give up praying. God works in his mysterious ways. He does not work in our time but in His good time.

Oh BOY smfh for those who say drugs does not harm people who choose to indulge in taking it,here`s your answer. Know him from a very tender age with lots of promise but as always he turn to drugs and the rest is history. Lord put a hand for there a lots like him if proper intervention is ignored we will soon need a police station in Grand Fond and that`s no joke mark my words. When I was growing up Grand Fond people and “JAIL” never happen! But sadly the bug has arrived a sign of the times we are living in and no village is escaping the wrath. Lord help us.

      @ Hope

Illegal drugs destroy them physically and mentally. This is why they should never be legislated.
