Here is some news on this matter

46 kg of cocaine, 60 kg of cannabis and more than 91,000 euros seized… 7 those detained… This is the balance sheet of a survey of more than five months of the Direction interregional de Police (DIPJ) who has finally borne fruit.
This afternoon, some details related to the investigation were revealed by the Prosecutor, Guy Etienne and the Director of DIPJ, Philippe Touyet at a press conference.

    Six arrests in Guadeloupe
After a preliminary investigation, the opening of a judicial inquiry and rogatory from a juge d’instruction of Pointe-à-Pitre, 6 individuals, 5 Dominicais and a Guadeloupe were shut down Sunday. They arrived in the morning on a beach, from Dominica. Aboard their boat, 46 kg of cocaine, more than 60 kg of cannabis, 91,000 euros in cash and weapons. The six men were arrested a few hours after their arrival, presented before a judge in immediate appearance before being placed in detention.

    An arrest in London
The seventh trafficker, him, regarded as the head of the network was arrested in London, the same day as his accomplices. An arrest made possible because, leaving Dominica for England, it was entered into the Schengen area therefore subjected to police checks reinforced. He was arrested by London police with a warrant to bring international. The France can now request his extradition.
This network was followed for some time. Thus, the investigation could confirm once again that Guadeloupe was a strategic point traffic between South America and Europe. In recent years, the cases of this type are increasing. In five months, this network has increased more than 166 kg of cocaine and not less than 680 000 euros by the Department.

When we human being have dirty ways no matter who we are, and where we go, it follows us. Take a pig and put it in a Palace, it is still a pig. The person have been arrested, so there is something he has done. Too many people in position in Dominica have nasty ways. They can get away in Dominica, but when they go overseas, they sure will eventually get caught.

DNO, is this a new law in Dominica that you should not call name before a person is charged? If that’s the case they you sure broke that law last week when you reported that Earl Grant (Seco) was arrested upon his arrival to Dominica and it was not until two days later he was charged. How consistent! To me, if you cannot call name until charged then you should wait until the person is charged before you publish. Then again Dominica is a place where people like beth and therefore I understand why you have pung your beth too.

    • Anonymous
      June 7, 2013

The Seco Grant case was different u idiot…..Grant’s name was released to the press by the DPP who said that he was wanted for questioning in the case.

He did not come to Dominica incognito and was arrested. His name was already in the public domain and the matter was already public knowledge.

If Seco’s name was used by the DPP or he was not so public and he came to DA and was arrested for, say a pound of cocaine, I would not expect his name in the press.

Are you on a mission to get at me at all cost, you BIG FOOL? Did I address you? Are you DNO, you BIG IDIOT? I know you do not like the questions I am raising concerning the DLP so you think by calling me names you will stop me. But you must be joking you ! FYI, I follow news from the free world and for the past two weeks, persons have been arrested without being charged in the USA for putting ricin in letters addressed to Obama and Bloomberg. From the moment arrest was made by FBI, CNN, NBC,ABC, FOX and others called names to the world. I guess you are not as smart as you think you!
In case you are too blind to get my point, all I am simply saying to DNO is, if they are not permitted by law to release information until a person is charged then wait until everything is cleared before they put it out. By putting out such article that they said they got from local authorities opens the door for speculation, and no wonder someone asked if it is Sukie, since he is a known businessman from Newtown.

DNO do you realize that 99% of the time you never give the updated information that you promise?
I have been monitoring this type of breaking news from DNO which gives scanty information and then there’s no follow-up.
I see a deterioration in the quality of your reporting. Before breaking the news to be first, it would help if your reporters would get involved in investigative reporting, seek the source, confirm it, and then break the news. I’m a bit fed up of these emotional headlines without substance in the report.
Or are you playing with your readers?
Come on shake up and kicks some butts, the information on the street should not be the same as DNO or any other media house fro that matter. The public depends on you (all) for information, not BEFF, and these reports are looking beffy, they smell beffy so they must be beffy.
Just read how stupid it sounds: “BUSINESSMAN ARRESTED IN LONDON” who, how, why, what for? Even if you don’t give the man’s name, give some more credible information.
Next CALYPSONIAN ARRESTED FOR COCAINE, same thing.
I hope this passes your scrutiny and your reporters will take it in the spirit that it is written.

Admin: Reader, if you really know about news reporting then you would know that there’s such a thing as developing news. A story breaks with a BASIC FACT or FACTS and continues to develop. The lack of confirmed information from the authorities about this arrest notwithstanding, it is a FACT that this businessman was arrested in London. If you’re saying that this is not newsworthy, then that’s another matter.

    • June 7, 2013

Bondiere oiye….all you want to come after the Admin but he/she said that they are awaiting for more details from the relevant authorities. Have patience nah. Why you want the person name for? Don’t you have Dominican relatives living in England? Or call Newtown and try to find out who went to England. You more like BEFF than anything. People who are willing to wait for relevant information will wait. People who like BEFF lack patience…..they want all the news whether the news are true or fake.

    • Anonymous
      June 7, 2013

Admin how you going to develop a news with no name. If you do, then 2 minutes later a name should go with it. I really do not see the sense of having a scanty breaking news for a whole day. Ahwa, I know about news and this is not good, and maybe because it is much too often. You can have a breaking news but sooner than later, give the details of the news. this is like what my little friends them do when they hear a hot gossip. I don’t mean any offense but it is how I feel based on the pattern I see here.

    • EB.
      June 7, 2013

Admin: I understand your point of view, but Annica Alethea where are the follow-ups or developments? You just Break the story and end.

Additionally, if it is FACT, then what is preventing you from revealing the name? FACT is truth, so why hold back details of what’s true?

      Come on.
