Major cocaine bust in Soufriere

Police have made a major drug bust seizing some 30 kilograms of cocaine in Soufriere.

Police PRO Inspector John Carbon said the seizure was made on Thursday morning at 6:00 during a joint operation between the drug and marine units of the police force.

He said during the operation one open-keel boat, found about 500 meters in the Soufriere Bay, was also seized.

Four Dominicans, one St. Lucian and one resident of St. Maarten were arrested and are assisting police in their investigations.

The police say the identity of the men will be made available on Friday.

They will be hunted from the north, south, east and west. By the power of God every crooked way shall be made straight. We shall make life uncomfortable and unprofitable for the drug lords. They shall recieve their just recompence of reward. The Spirit of the Lord declares it.

Before Dominica never use to have all those drug problems and robberies…people need money… you cant blame them for selling drugs ehhh… i would never turn to drugs to make money but im just saying….people need money so then they turn to the wrong places for it…light bill high…food expensive…everything going up and no jobs…or little salary…you can’t blame the people for selling drugs…

My Dear, this is happening everywhere not only in Dominica. Still, I DO NOT condone drug smuggling or distribution.

Yes you can blame people for selling drugs and I also blame you for being so stupid. EVERYONE NEEDS MONEY OKAY!. Not just one set of people that need money because money a basic and necessary need for survial but you know what other people do. THYE GO TO SCHOOL AND LEARN! work their a**s of and get a job and continue to work hard and climb the ladder to success. If those little hood rats don’t want to educate themselves and be qualified how they suppose to get jobs. Even if it means leaving the country to work somewhere else. There is always a way and there is always a better choice.

Take Grand Bay out of the map and unite the rest of Dominica against that community because the people are bad.Whatever crime they commit, it will be magnified more than any community in Dominica and the magistrates will be more severe on them than other Dominican but haven’t heard of any cocaine raid in Grand Bay. Most of Grand money goes into court fines and government regards them as nobody because Skero does not need their support. A magistrate charged a sout man $6500 for a portion of marijuana and held him responsible for school kids that are smoking. Hope she makes the same statement to offenders in other districts in Dominica. They are not on the map and continue to treat them like aliens.

It is strange that ever since I was growing up I heard about Grand Bay and not in a complimentary manner. It has been carrying a bad name for a long time and appears always will to the end of time. At that time we never heard of drugs and guns. Grand Bay needs to be blest. The people must fervently pray more. Sincere worship, prayer, penance and sacrifice will change this outlook which has damaged its reputation.

I’m reading that they held drugs but nothing about money. For a drug bust money must be involved as well. Drug dealers dont just give out drugs without money. Whats up with that officers? You’re only giving one side the story.

All we hear about is major bust, but we never hear about anyone being convicted and sent to Prison for a long while for all the major drug bust over the years.

If you check the Prison, there is no inmate serving time for any major drug bust.

    What is going on DPP?
    What is going on Commisioner?
WHat is going on Attorney general?

    Good Job Officers!
This occurs frequently. They do not give up and do take chances. They are aware that there is a lucrative market for the drugs in DA and they will be well paid for transporting it. Otherwise they would not as much as agree to and try to bring them in.
Are they at the head of this? These men are out to destroy the minds of also the youth. When those whom they sell the drugs to do not have money to pay them what will happen to them? What will they do to get money to pay them? Crimes and more crimes.
These are obviously law-breakers who care not about their country or others except themselves, as long as they are paid and never get caught.
No bail for them. Let them remain in prison until the Court case and thereafter for some years to come or for life.
I hope those boats are confiscated and do not return to their point of origin. They should be destroyed or sold to responsible people who will utilize them for some good and not for evil as this.

I am happy when i hear of these bust but we have to realize some still enter the contry. Poeple get upset when i say if we legalize a certain of weed we would not be in this mess. Let it be legal for people to have a certain amount of weed and see if the cocaine will not slow down dramatically. In the 80’s we did not know cocaine or there was so little that we did not hear about it in Dominica, most people were in there weed but when the cocaine started coming in it messed up everything and people began gooing for the harder drugs. My solution, make it legal for one to be able to have at least 10grams of weed or up to 3 joints without getting charged. Anything more than the 10 grams one can be arrested. Cigarette kills more people than weed and yet still they do very little to stop it.

Good Job Officers! I think the Government and members of Parliament should go back to the house and change these laws about sentencing regarding Drugs and Fire arms. There should be some real real harsh penalties regarding the Trafficing of Cocaine and so forth! Go back to the parliament and amend these laws so as to have drug pushers running for cover from Dominica! If the Laws are changed there will be greater success! Please come together as parliamentarians and fight the drug trade! Look at the other nations and check their laws as they declare war on drugs! Please fry all those caught in the drug trade esp cocaine so that we will have less worries in the Caribbean! If the PM calls for tougher laws regarding drugs and so forth well well thats a thumbs up for Dominica!

Trust me there’s no future in drug dealing or drug doing, only death and destruction along the way. The money is just paper, the cocaine is just powder, once you have the $$ today it’s gone tomorrow and a soon as you sniff the powder this minute the high gone soon after. That’s why it’s called a pipe dream. The effects are real but the dream isnt.

As long as them drugs people get the fine that they are getting in DA, this will continue

Them guys need to be jail for five plus years also fine a huge some of money

The sentence for this crime in DA is too little, jail the foreigners, charge them ten thousand dollars each them deport them, if they reenter the island send them to rot in jail

Them Dominican men need to take a look at what this drugs are doing on the island, all they concern about it making their big dollars, when children, families etc are suffering due to that cocaine thing

I am not pro drug trafficking, but accord to the CIA,s website, Dominica is a major drug trans-shipment point for the Caribbean. In other words, they think less the 1% of the contraband remains on the island. Economics 101: Drug passes through, money comes back.

Our justice system is well equipped to handle those case, hurt them when it hurts the most…their pockets. I am in favor of large fines, because it will be us the tax payers that would have to foot the bill for them being in prison.

Good job, to our law enforcement officers!
