It seems that the acuser was known by the deceased because while she was bleeding she called either a family member or friend and told them who it was thar stabbed her. The possibility could be he went after her for money and she refused ended in a heated arguement.

Interesting perspective. I hope you don’t want readers to believe that he was “chosen” to kill her this way because she was a bad woman and deserved to live the world like this? Wow! I wonder who would have chosen him for this task?

At least he has not been seen waving to the cameras yet and he obviously has been coached on how to pose for a picture for the public. Even though he somehow gets away with this crime, the good thing is that God is the ultimate judge of all of us.

I hate to say this but I am SOOOOOOOO upset about this senseless killing. this man must be put away for good!! We as a people with HUMANITY have two main responsibilities: protect and look out for our children and elders. What justification can possibly be advanced for such a heineous crime?

So sad, a 75 yrs old person, tell me why. I blame Dominicans. We Dominicans do have pride, read our national anthem. We must help the law, and police. this young man should not have arrested, street justice. save tax payers. just like jamaica. no one talk. street justice, example. killing kids, elderly, disable people, rape of a child or elderly, robbing your own poor people. execution style. you are no use to this country, but you have to be sure is the right man.

So you’re the monster who stabbed the woman over 30 times. When she was screaming for you to stop did your conscience (and I’m sure you have one) not call out to you. Did all her cries fall on deaf ears. My only wish is when, and I mean when, you go to jail a fellow prisoner will take out out in record time. That is quite common in England when despicable crimes are committed against children and the elderly. I don’t even want to hear about what drove him to do it because this clearly wasn’t a random act if he has burgled her house several times before. If all those saying he was messed up actually cared wasn’t that reason enough to do the the so called mental evaluation. It is quite clear that if you are persistently terrorising a defenseless 75 year old the next step would most likely be murder. Our so called definition of justice is a joke. How you break into a persons home multiple times and steal from them and you are not in jail is a joke. He has a backlog of punishment coming..not just for this hedious murder. This lady happened to be my mums school friend. She invited my mum to her house for lunch and old time chat last month and my mum was tied up at the time. Now this happens and she is feeling really broken. These beasts do not realise just how many lives they are affecting with their totally inhumane behaviour

    November 6, 2012

My question is why would a twenty-two year old slaughter a seventy-five year old senior citizen? All I can think of is he is suffering from mental illness please forgive me if I’m wrong I just don’t get it.

  25. November 6, 2012

Clarence Lewis! You are so young! Your facial expression looks as if you wouldn’t hurt a fly. And yet it is said that you stabbed that 75 year old lady to her death. I can plainly see who caused you to commit that gruesome crime.

That is the reason I will not stop advocating the need for us, human beings, wherever and whoever we are, to stay in check of the state of our mind–which for most of us is still in its carnal condition.

For if the mind is not in its renewing process, Satan, God’s enemy and ours as well, knows that we are weak, and he takes the advantage to use us against our loved ones, close friends, and especially people who live with reverend fear of God–who is of Love in Spirit and Truth.

I do not have the time to read all of these 260 something comments here, but I imagine that the majority would like to see you dead or incarcerated forever.

I too had the long term incarceration for you, in my mind as well, but that was before I saw your picture. O God! O God! O God! Please show us Your mercy and compassion, for You know that we do not know what we do–most of the time.

One thing I know for sure, is that you, Clarence Lewis, are not solely to blame. Those who are ahead of you are responsible for who you are today. It starts with you parents, your teachers in school, and most of all, those who claim to be servants of God leading the people in the place and gathering which they call Church House and Church.

We need to acknowledge that we have failed miserable, when it comes to teaching the ways of Life, which are the traits of Love, to those who come after us–they are our children and young people. We have to be responsible and to acknowledge that their mistake is our failure–otherwise we can never make amends!

Or elso our young ones do nothing else but to wander astray without knowing head or foot–many of them are trying to find themselves–but where do they go from here to there? O God, please help us! Give us Spiritual strength because of our extreme weakness–let Your Will be done for the sake of Mrs. Marvlin Robinson, who may have been killed by the man is so young–his name is Clarence Lewis! What can I ask of You, on his behalf? I really do not have a clue!

After the 1st 2 hanging they will get the message.

    • Be Real!
      November 6, 2012

What are you trying to imply? a young guy goes to a lady for a job, she questions his motive and he said he wanted money to pay his college. She gave him a job and trusted him, fed him and paid him for his services. He leaves the job to go home with alteria motives behind his head so he would leave a window or door unlocked to return to steal. The neighbours caught him in the lady’s house, called the police, so now there is a case with him and the Police, not even the lady because she could not bear witness as she was not the one who caught him. The case was coming up this month so he went in to slaughter her not even realizing is not she who took him to court. The case is between him and the Police. He was determined to get her. Thank God she saw his face and had the energy to call for help and was alive to say who her murderer was.
A sad day in Dominica and we should hang him, he should even be stoned to death in public like some other countries. If he is your family you should have cultured and nurtured him differently and stop your bull!!
Who is sympathizing with the family? who is going to pay them for their loss? your comment is poor and baseless so just shut up. Empty barrels really makes the most noise.

It is high time for those who have been given the responsibility for the law, order and safety of the nation to do their job and make an example of the killers.
Publicly send them back, just as prematurely as the person they killed, to meet their Creator to explain to Him why they took a life. The Bible says that thou shalt not kill and a life for a life. Without that nobody is safe.
You cannot speak up for your rights anywhere because you know that they can creep up on you and do what they want with you, or they will even do it publicly because they know they will be walking the streets in no time with the help of our brilliant, educated lawyers and the bleeding hearts among us.
Sending them to prison is like sending them on holiday at tax payers expense even if you throw away the key because the same bleeding hearts insist that they get the best treatment in prison.
Let the stupid bleeding heart talkers go and weep at the graves of the killers they are upholding.

This young man was raised well. Unlike many of his peers from his immediate neighourhood, he was well looked after. His grandmother schiolled him, took him to church every saturday, he was in Cadet, immaculately well dressed all the while, soft spoken, was an up and coming lay preacher in his church, who was looked up to by every.

What went wrong? Something had to go wrong to transformthis otherwise very unassuming young man intothe beast that killed Marvlyn. Now I believe in counselling and phsyoctherapy evaluation. What is it that went wrong? how did Clarence finmd himself at the lady’s house? Was he a burglar or a familiar face at the house? There is much to be asked. Ma maria, you are not my favorite person, but you and Clarence are in my prayers.

This is disturbingly sad on so many levels.  I’m
looking at a young man with the best years ahead of him gone to wind and a woman who lived out her best years, cut short in the most horrific and tragic manner pinned against a justice system to serve both sides.

We can’t keep failing our children Dominica. In all of this parents need to step up and raise young men and women with values and respect for other people’s property, privacy and themselves. I have no kids, but I have god sons and daugters, nieces and nephews, young cousins therefore in my spirit I can’t say hang him but i’m forced to pray for my own that they stay on the straight and narrow. I don’t know him and his circumstances, but I do know there is no manner of justification for what he is being charged for.Dominicans let us step in and pull our children ears bondieu before we see more of the same. How can a young man by all accounts who has shown so much promise allow himself to commit such a henious act? How can a woman, any person young or old begin to feel safe in the privacy of their home? For me her murder means Dominica and not just her family has lost a valuable citizen likewise Dominica, not just his family has lost yet another young promising man who will languish in jail. I’m in tears!

      November 6, 2012

      @um

Are you human? What do mean the murder wasn’t even as gruesome as the murders in Antigua? Are you even normal … do you have a brain? Stabbing a person multiple times with intent is not gruesome? Not to mention an elderly woman? Both situations were gruesome. Please explain your definition of gruesome you senseless barrel?

Maybe you are just as sick and troubled as the young man who committed this heinous crime. Yes, I agree with all those who think hanging should be brought back because obviously nothing else seems to work in that country for crime. Once a case is called, they are back on the streets to continue the devil evil work.

It is not right to take another person’s life, but alas, in situations like this where your murder someone – hell yes it is right! Preferably stoned to death so you can feel the pain the victim felt or worst – hanging might just be too easy!

Do me a favor go hide yourself and your thoughts in the gutter — your comment really made me angry!

I don’t even know this woman, but can imagine the pain of her loved ones. May her soul rest.

I really do not understand Dominica’s legal system – it makes me so angry! Instead those in power sit together and figure out how to re-write some of the ancient laws to deal with the barrel of sick individuals Dominica have – all they engage in is petty politics whilst collecting a paycheck. What a waste of brains! Remember we all have loved ones out there and these types of heinous crimes can happen to anyone of us.

I simply cannot believe this comment. Though no murder is acceptable, the two murders are totally different circumstances and should not be compared at all. This guy had been stealing from Mrs Robinson repeatedly, that is an invasion in itself, it leaves one stressed and fearful to be constantly robbed. That wasn’t enough torture to the poor innocent woman, he came again in the night and BRUTALLY attacked and killed her and you people want to talk about a nice boy? This is pre meditated murder in any language and I am shocked at some of these comments. Fair Justice must be served in this case or Dominica is finished. Simple.

if he did he should get his jail time like all criminals should…why all of a sudden everyone wants hanging…when we have dozens of persons walking around who have killed before, killed their brothers, their sisters their children and they can get jail or even worst bail why hang a 22 year old without understanding what the heck went wrong…it takes alot to kill any human no matter how sick a person may look or be…so we need to figure out ways to evaluate people’s real and true state of mind and not just sit here an judge….if you knew clarence comment…if you knew the lady who passed express your sympathy…but all this hang him talk….really clarence is a son, a grandson, a brother…he was a member of the cadet core, he tutored persons who were slow…if he did this then he should get his fair jail time…but we need to find him guilty first….clarence has friends and family just like any other person..

Spare a thought for the grandmother. She did her very best. I feel for her. Take courage. Clarence erred like many of us. He too is deserving of our forgiveness. God will forgive him. Who ae we to condem him.

Let justice prevail. Marvlyn was not deserving of such treatment in her own house. Clarence must be brought to justice in a proper court of law.

      November 6, 2012

i agree, he should be brought to justice and deserve a fair trial! but above all he should be punished at the same level of his crime! our prison system too soft! a man who gets convicted for 8 robberies without endangering life should not get same treatment as one who murders in cold blood! (lets say 15 years in the same prison) no the thief should have his hands beaten everyday of his sentence!that would deter people from crime! the murderer should be made to feel the same pain his victim felt but should live to regret! that would deter people from crime! being locked up for many years may not change a man! but having them feel the pain they cause should and will also send out examples! the law should be changed to look at the level of crime, the motive, the effect on society to see what punishment is fit!

The guy is charged and not yet found guilty, but he has been sentenced to death by Dominicans. I can understand that everyone is emotional right now, and if a dog was charged for the woman’s murder even it too would be condemned. Why? because everyone is anxious for justice. But do not allow that to cloud your intelligence. He needs representation too and until the case is called and evidence is provided you need to wait.

Too much ignorance spewing on here.

Parents the Devil is taking over the future of our youths, we need to go down on our knees and ask God to take control of our children, only he can do so, because he is in control not the devil

They need to look into this young man upbringing, if he was abused, molested, neglected etc, something definitely is wrong

While I condemn the killing and hope Mrs Robinson gets justice, some of us need to realize that criminals must be represented. The justice system was designed to give them an opportunity to prove their cases so don’t cry down the lawyers when all they are doing is their jobs. Blame the system and not the lawyers.

Also, we can sit around and speculate the reasons why he would commit such a crime, but has anyone stop to think that he may indeed have a psychological problem that went undiagnosed? We need to start paying attention to our family and friends around us and get help when needed. Some of you say he was quiet, but do we really take time to have conversations at the lunch/dinner/breakfast? Do we spend quality time with each other?

Finally, we as a nation need to start thinking of how we can build our country by focusing on youths, and thinking about creative ways of making resources/services available. Yes he should be punished if he indeed commit this crime but what are some of the preventative measures we can make mainstream to avoid such behaviors in the first place. It may take time but little impact is better than none.

To the family for Mrs Robinson I hope you find justice.

I too beleive he should be hanged after conviction if he is indeed guilty, but, apparently we have lost the fortitude to hang in our country. When last was someone hanged in Dominica. I remember years ago when Trinidad hanged 10 murders Dole Chadee and his gang over a period of four days. Our courts need to start back making the punishment fit the crime and stop being cowards. The law is on the books. Use it.On another note one cannot plead guilty to murder in DA. A preliminary inquiry will be held and then he will be indicted based on the eveidence and tried in the High Court by a Judge and Jury.

    • colorblind
      November 6, 2012

Yes, My sincere condolences to the Robinson family. Marvlyn was a lively and positive human being. It’s time we stop being afraid of the death penalty. It is like a law on the books that is only there for decoration.

This evil vermin deserves the death penalty. “Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind.” Genesis 9:6.

We need to send a clear message that murder and similar crimes will NOT be tolerated. It’s a pity we do not have public hanging, so would-be murderers would think twice.. Sometimes we have to bring back the previous methods of punishment to deter some crimes. Punishment also seems to be foreign thing these days for criminals. Most enjoy being in prison, eating our tax money and getting fat. ‘Hard labour’ is a dirty word and a thing of the past. We must be vigilant and tough on crime.

You people watch so much American TV. You see how it works yet you always come on here and spew this nonsense. Why should different standards apply here? Is it because we are a small island?

You cry for a more equitable justice system, yet propose that an ALLEGED criminal should go without legal representation. That in itself undermines the legal system that was set up to allow everyone the opportunity for representation regardless of the nature of their alleged crimes.

      • Stop the press
        November 6, 2012

What does who the lawyer mother and sisters-in-law have to do with him choosing to represent a client? Dominicans you all must learn to stick to issues and stop getting into peoples’ personal lives, bearing false witness against them and their kin in an effort to make a point. This is an emotional case as it stands, however Joshua is a lawyer and he has one of two choices to take the case or reject the client. Under the law even the criminal has a right to representation and that should be your homework to inform yourself rather can cast aspersions on who is mother is and his sisters-in law. I attended college with Joshua and I have to admit I am very proud of what he has made of himself hither to his circumstances and maybe that should be your assignment to add value to your life rather and make personal negative comments on him for job he is doing. Joshua didn’t send this young man to murder anyone neither is he and his family or associates on trial here so I ask once more what homework you are sending people to do on him? This is why our country is going nowhere fast, we forget issues and we delve into personalities and drag innocent people into our melee.

  155. Anonymous
    November 6, 2012

Salpet. I pray he never gets bail and even if everyone is entitled to legal representation there are some crimes that should not get legal reprsentation. I pray Joshua Francis follows his conscience and turn away from this heartless criminal. It should not always be about money and gaining publicity especially considering he is a new lawyer BUT sometimes a firm no i cannot represent would not make clients not come to you.

Judge not. yes this is sad for both families and especially Marvlyn helped him. But we do not know the state of mind of this young man. Something must have gone wrong. We should probaly reach out more to our yong persons. A lot are walking the road looking seemingly well but alas carrying heavy burdens and probably fearful that they resort to acts which are desperate and even putting them in more problems. I am also thinking of Clarence’s family as well. This is very devastating for them as well and also I read Ellen’s Paul comment and this brought the tears to my eyes as well. Lack of self confidence, being fearful, anger, carrying burdens which should be given to the Lord are all devises the “Evil One” uses against all of us …Yes all of us if we are not wary of his evil schemes. To the Family of Marvlyn – Dr Robinson and the others, this is so sad. Marvlyn did not have to go that way and did not deserve to die that way.

Let this be a lesson to all of us who have children. Let us pray and intercede for them. Let us be very observant and let us show them more love as well because lack of self esteem and many other things can create all this kind of social problems that we are seeing now. It is so sad that we see persons and do not know what is on their mind.

Lawyers don’t have a choice… is either they do it or they find someone else… he wouldn’t have a lawyer unless he says he doesn’t want one… but for a fair trail he must get one unless he says otherwise

Oh Lord have mercy. My heart goes out to both families. I remember lewis coming to our office after his first incidence and i speaking to him and encouraging him to stay on the straight path. I remember him saying to me so because i did a crime that means i not a good boy again? I quickly retracted my statement and encouraged him to put the past behind him and continue to serve his God. My heart aches. This is a young man i admired growing up in Newtown seemingly on the straight and narrow. Young people please stay away from negative influences.

      November 6, 2012

Is not your child so you saying that but if he was a close associate of yours and they refused him bail you would be the first to say…” BECAUSE HE IS A POOR PERSON CHILD” then put some political twist in it…

The land is not lawless is hypocrits like you that is the problem!!!!! Don’t know when to relent on lambassing the land!!!!

We are all sad by the incident and is asking for justice but you have to talk about land being law less!!! SMH

      • James
        November 6, 2012

BS Joe…The land is lawless…What did this lady do to deserve to die that way…in her house. This punk is going to get off on bail and be free to walk the streets and who knows kill another person. When that happens what will you say? My family knows because I tell them all the time if they break the law they should pay and don’t think I’m going to hide them like you people do in Dominica…the lawless land!!!

      November 6, 2012
