Man in custody over death of elderly

A Vielle Case man has died a few days after he was reportedly hit by a stone and a 33 year old is being questioned in relation to the incident, police say.

A 33 year old man is now in police custody in relation to the incident. He is reportedly assisting in the investigation.

Ambrose Leblanc, 74, was hospitalized Wednesday February 16, after he was allegedly struck with a stone on his forehead in his community on that same day.

Leblanc succumbed to his injury on Saturday February 19, according to police public relations officer inspector Claude Weekes.

To the Leblanc family , i express my heartfelt sympathy: especially his children. May they find true comfort in this sad time. I do hope that justice will be met smoothly . It is high time that criminals start paying for their crimes.

What does it matter whether it is an old man and a young man, two old men or two young men? At the end of the day – someone is dead. Violence by/ at any age is wrong.

I just think people need to learn how to resolve disputes other than by violent means.

Many people need anger management tecniques. People need to be educated – and saying that it was an old man doesn’t change and lessen the effect of anything.

Whatever happened to just plain old mwe pwee? Now adays is guns, knives and now stones which resolves fights.

Come on – all of us Dominicans must learn to control our anger because EVERY single person is a POTENTIAL KILLER – it just takes the right circumstances!

I agree with you Saraphine. This man was my relative as a matter of fact the person who is helping the police is the son of a LeBlanc. It’s my prayer that justice will be done. Family is family but when family do not behave like family, family MUST be correct…. I am praying for Mr LeBlanc’s family, as family I am here for you.

Domincians what is happing to us as a nation? Back in the days we could raise our heads up high and say that we were a peace loving nation, today this beautiful island is rife with arogance, ignorance, lack of tolerance and most of all the lack of respect for each other.

For the sake of our children and our own wealthfare we need to do some soul searching and start reliving some of the good values past on to us by our forefathers, they may not have had all the life comforts which are now available to us, but they loved life and repected each other, they may not have liked what each other did or had to say but sorted out their differences without killing each other.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ambrose was not a violent man. I grew up knowing him to be funny, he always made me laugh. Everyone go through ups and downs from time to time. What could he have done? How angry could a 33 year old man get? and why not walk away or let out your frustration differently. 33 years? where is your sense of thougt.?
