Twenty-three-year-old Lee Anthony of Morne Rachette has been charged with attempted murder and shooting with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to Vaughn Dodds of Wesley.
Anthony, who appeared before Chief Magistrate Evelina Baptiste this morning, was denied bail and remanded at the Dominica State Prison.
The prosecution, in their objections to bail, argued that Anthony had committed this offense while on bail for money laundering.
They also argued that Dodds is currently fighting for his life at the Princess Margaret Hospital as a result of his injuries and there still exists an ongoing feud between the accused and victim. Police said they feared that these disputes would interfere with their investigations if Anthony is released. They also fear that Anthony’s life may be in danger if released – as a result of the dispute.
Police said that they still haven’t found the weapon in question and are still in search of other persons in relation to the matter.
According to unconfirmed reports, Dodds was shot several times all over his body while amongst relatives on December 14, 2010 in Wesley. He was shot by someone in a motor vehicle, according to Police Spokesman Inspector Claude Weekes in a previous report.
