Police have recovered the weapon suspected to have been used in the stabbing death of 38-year-old Rumadine “Didin” Carbon in Pichelin last Thursday.
Acting Chief Commissioner of Police Cyril Carrette made the disclosure on DBS radio programme, Talking Point, this morning. Carrette was accompanied on the talk show by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and National Security Minister Charles Savarin.
Carrette said the discovery of the murder weapon was made with the aid of a member of the small community located between Belle Vue and Grand Bay.
Carbon was stabbed during a dispute with a younger man, Dave Imran George, aka D-Bone, who has since been detained.
Residents say both men had a fight earlier in the day over a gold chain Carbon accused George of stealing from him.
It is further alleged that George went to visit Carbon’s home to check a cousin when another confrontation developed. A knife was brandished by one of the men and during the struggle Carbon was stabbed in the kitchen area of the board house in the small community. He ran a few metres before he fell below the steps of his neighbour’s house.
He died while undergoing treatment on the steps, residents say.
It is alleged that George too sustained injuries during the final scuffle that took the life of Carbon.
