High Court Judge, Victoria Charles-Clarke has imposed a $40,000.00 fine on Florence Telemacque of Woodford Hill after she was found guilty of wounding Daisy Wallace by biting off a piece of her nose.
The wounding took place during a fight between the two women.
Charles-Clarke labeled Telemacque’s actions as “unacceptable”. She was told to pay $5,000.00 forthwith on April 6, 2017, with subsequent payments of $5,000 to be made every three months until the amount is paid in full or in default 12 months in jail. She was also placed on a bond to keep the peace for 2 years. In default, she will go to jail for 12 months.
Facts of the case
Daisy Wallace, a self-employed 45-year-old woman, told the court that she grew up as a child with the accused, Florence Telemacque, in Woodford Hill. At the time of the incident, she and Fabien Cuffy of the same community were lovers.
Wallace said on May 1, 2011, she went to her mother’s house at Woodford Hill. She telephoned Fabien, who was working as a bus driver on the highway between Wesley and Calibishie and proceeded to bring lunch for him.
There is a drain on each side of the road. She said she went for a soft drink and on her return saw Florence Telemacque coming down a hill close to the main road.
Wallace said she crossed the road and sat on a stump.
Telemacque and Cuffy crossed the road towards her, and Telemacque said: “Your woman said that I loving you. I sexing with you, so come and sex me more”.
The court was told that Telemacque then pulled down her green pants and yellow underwear, took Fabien’s head, bent over and rubbed his face in her private parts.
She then pulled up her pants, tried jumping over the drain but her foot slid and she fell in it.
According to Wallace, Telemacque then went to sit on some gravel nearby.
“She started to curse me …,” Wallace stated.
The two women then started insulting each other.
Wallace said Telemacque hit her on the leg three times and a fight started.
“I shifted the second kick and Florence fell down on the road. I asked Fabien if she died,” Wallace explained. “She came over, she leaned over me and bit my nose.”
However, Telemacque’s version of the incident was different. She said that Wallace was the attacker and aggressor.
“She just hit me with the tool on my head, the wheel spanner. When she was about to hit me a next blow, I kicked and I grabbed her. Fabien saw when I kicked Daisy so he turned and grabbed me and pulled me and I fell in the drain. He held onto me and kept pressing me down in the drain and Daisy was beating me down in the drain. I get blows all in my head.”
She continued, “So two of them on me in that drain; the drain was narrow, so I had to help myself to get up. Every time I tried to turn to get up, she biting me on my back. I really feel a hard bite this time on the side of my back. Daisy was biting me. So I brushed Fabien aside and in order to defend myself, I grabbed her head and I pulled. I closed my eyes and I just bite. I felt something in my mouth. I heard Daisy saying, ‘girl you bite out my nose, but it not passing so’. I spit out the piece of nose in the drain.”
Wallace was transported to the Princess Margaret Hospital with the piece of her nose in a plastic bag but despite surgery, it could not be reattached.
Wallace said the injury had affected her life badly. She now suffers from asthma and to keep dust away, she holds a bag over her nose all the time She sneezes a lot and has breathing problems and has to be taken to hospital from time to time to be given oxygen to get her breath back.
Her beauty, she said, is gone and Cuffy is just a friend now.
State Attorney Sherma Dalrymple, assisted by Fernillia Felix, conducted the case for the State over four days ending on Tuesday, March 17, 2016 before a jury of three men and six women.
Lawyer Gildon Richards conducted the defense.
That’s a real mess fighting over a man and ended up with $40, 000 to pay or jail time. I hope women learn from this stop fighting for man it does’nt worth.
Why do u all have to be fighting over a man, now the man she claimed she loved is just a friend now. I guess he wouldn’t feel comfortable to be in love with a woman with a piece of nose. Women it’s not worth fighting over a man
I know Florence from young and i know that her story is true. No one can just bite of somebody nose without been under some serious pressure. She is not the problem type , but she has never been the type to let anyone take away her rights. Better pay that money than to spend the rest of your life embarrassed or just be plain dead ! What about self defense ? Eh

This story is so comical. I laughed my **** off! That’s what you get when you chook poopoo then say it smells.
This is one fracas and is rather upsetting that it ended as that with one of the women losing part of her nose. This should never have occurred. Sadly, it did and this woman will suffer for the rest of her life. To see they once lived together as family.
If it is possible, plastic surgery could be performed but this will cost an exorbitant sum. She may have to travel abroad for that.
It only takes one action and it is to turn away from trouble.
I hope the other woman has the money to pay the fine. The woman lost her beauty. It cannot be measured in terms of money. I think $100,000 would be appropriate. It could assist her to get surgery to repair her nose. I wonder if that amount is sufficient.

This poor lady needs plastic surgery. Can we do something to help her? There are excellent programs in Brazil.

The man himself is a scamp, a worthless person. Instead of separating the women he encouraged them and helped the other one to inflict this type of wound on the other woman. They could have killed her. He should also have been charged.
