A nine-member jury comprising of six women and three men has found 42-year-old Joseph Senhouse, of Penville, guilty of three counts of sexual crime on an eight-year-old girl.
The incident took place between January and August 2013.
Senhouse was found guilty of buggery, unlawful sexual intercourse and indecent assault on the child, who was eight years and four months old at the time.
He will be sentenced on December 11, 2015.
The court ordered a social inquiry report on Senhouse and the case as described as “exceptional” by the presiding judge.
Dawn Yearwood Stewart represented Senhouse in the matter while State attorney attached to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Fernillia Felix, represented the State.

People have a right to their opinion based on the facts. I do not know the man. I commented based on what I read. It is not for me to forgive him. I do not hate him. What is hateful is what he did to the little girl.
He must ask forgiveness of the family, the girl he raped and placed her in a trauma and probably for life. He destroyed her life. This could cause her life to be a living hell.
Then he must ask God to forgive him. God is not impressed by mere words and hypocritical ones. We do know that God cannot be deceived and that He will not be taken for granted.

This case of Stenhouse, a 42 year old man, so severely violating an eight year child, is one of the worst I have seen. My understanding of Dominican law is that it could draw a 25 year sentence. I do not say this lightly. Because anger is increasing on the island and people are talking about taking the law in their own hands, it may be wise to keep this man out of sight for a long time.
Mr. Stenhouse is a pedophile. .People with this illness usually re-offend. This man should be in a treatment program. I understand Dominica does not have a specific program tailored for this problem. I hope I am wrong. If not it is time such a program is put together.
This precious little girl is psychologically scared for life unless she gets help. It should be a priority of the court to see tat she receive professional counseling with appropriate follow up.

It also suggests that the court failed both him and society the previous time.
(1) Was this perpetrator placed in a treatment program when he was convicted the first time
(2) Was his name placed on an on-line registry
(3) If he had been given the max sentence of 25 years I expect he would still be behind bars and this child would be O.K.
I do not know what it is like in Dominica. But I can tell you this. I know for a fact that in some places such a man would NOT be safe in jail. The chances of somebody taking him down would be very high. If the country has no death penalty it is usually done by a man who is serving a life sentence because he knows he has nothing to lose.
