The police have destroyed 7,057 marijuana plants in two separate anti-drug operations on September 6, 2016.
The first took place in the heights of Trafalgar where the Drug Squad unit uprooted and destroyed 2,665 marijuana plants. No arrests were made .
The other operation took place in the heights of Geneva where 4,392 plants were uprooted and destroyed. Also, 455 grams of ganja were seized.
One man from New Town and one from Grand Bay are presently in police custody on suspicion of cultivation and possession of Cannabis.

The plant has been demonized. Did you that the seed of the castor plant is poisonous. Ricin it is a deadly poison. Did you know that the bell flower plant is a potent hallucinogen? It is. Yet we have found good use for the castor plant. And the bell flowers are good for the bee population.
There can be many positive uses for the cannabis plant. Time and time again the USA have destroyed our markets. Yet here they are with a flourishing market for cannabis. They did the same with our bay leaf/bay oil products. The same with coconut oil.
We need to determine for ourselves whether the cultivation abd decriminalization of the plant will help us rather than hurt us.
Keep in mind the dangers of cigarette s and alcohol. They are legal.
Medical Marijuana is good for those who benefit from it, but just Legalize Marijuana period. By being illegal the curiosity draws many to it, many just to be defiant. Just plain out legalize it. It is not the bad thing you make it out to be. It’s ok, too much of anything is bad for you, smoke and allow people to smoke in moderation rather than spend so much on persecuting, protecting, eradicating, incaserating, police in mountains unavailable to maintain the peace; it’s too much to do about nothing, just weed people smoke.
