Police say they are investigating the death of a 4-year-old who died after he reportedly came in contact with an electrified extension cord in Grand Bay.
The incident occurred on Friday and the child has been identified as Ryelle Morancie.
According to the police, the child left his mother inside their home and went into the cellar with his 9-year-old sister where he came in contact with the cord.
The child fell and his unresponsive body was taken inside the house by his sister.
An alarm was raised and the child was taken the Grand Bay Health Center where he was pronounced dead.
The police say investigations into the incident continue.

Dont worry all these incidents will be looked at. There should be inspectors from the electric compnay that should be visiting homes that the company provides electricity too. so these incidents can be avoided. So sorry for the love ones but i promise a change is coming.
This is sad to read, the passing of a 4 year-old under this circumstance. The cord must have been faulty and the wires were exposed. If it is noticed that a cord is faulty, immediately get rid of it and purchase another one. It is not worth keeping since it could also catch on fire.

I have one child God bless me with and Lord God i always asking for the strenght if and when that time come. It not only a child but any loss is divastating. dont really want to comment on this but based on the story it seems that wires have been exposed which would not make it a natural death but that of negelgence.

Sometimes it takes tragic events to raise awareness. I urge our people to consider safety even when we go to the store to buy consumer goods. Because we don’t have an efficient consumer protection system a decision to buy a cheap extension chord could be a deadly move.
I hate come across as being political on such sad news but I urge people to be very cautious about the things you buy from the Chinese.

We must also remember the 9-year old sister who had to carry the body back in to the house. Can you imagine how she feels. Hope that she will get some counseling to get over this trauma/shock that she will be battling inside. that’s sad… hope the family gets the support needed to move on from that tragedy… we must make sure our homes are safe esp. from such things… i believe it’s cause the kid is so small… cause i’ve been shocked from extension cords like at least 3 times in my teen years… i don’t think the voltage is that high….
