Portsmouth man faces drug charges

courtBernard Benjamin, of Lagon Portsmouth, is presently on remand at the Stock Farm prison following the seizure of 45 kilograms of marijuana in Pointe Michel.

According to reports from Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Acting Superintendent, Claude Weekes, Benjamin was arrested on the 27th June 2015 on suspicion at Pointe Michel.

He said the street value of the illegal substance is around EC$110,000.

“A boat was also seized by the police which forms part of the investigative process,” Weekes stated on state-owned DBS Radio.

He noted that Benjamin is now facing the charges of intent to supply over 45,000 grams of marijuana and importation of the said substance.

Benjamin pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared before a Magistrate on June 30, 2015.

Weekes said bail is opened to Benjamin who at the time did not have a proper surety.

“As a result of which he is on remand at the State Prison,” he said.

Seem crimes of this nature are the only ones getting dealt with by the authorities, who has forgotten about the white collar crimes, the ones which destroy the institutions that govern our society, yet people speak of the rule of law and social order. how could there be justice or equality when the application of the law is so one sided towards a sector of society?

If you intend to break the law don’t get caught. To get caught make you a fool and you only have yourself to blame

my choice is to decriminalize marijuana instead of decriminalizing buggery. I have a strong belief that there may be healing properties in this herb.

Enough has been posted on DNO about the harm done to the human body – and the problems created in society – by marijuana for people to be knowledgeable. Nobody can plead ignorance for an excuse. If they are ignorant it is because they simply do not want to know.

The same is true of buggery. Neither marijuana nor buggery should be legalized. Both are harmful. Homosexuality is forbidden by the Word of God. It is contrary to nature (Romans 1:26,27), and an assault on God’s model for marriage (Matthew 19:4-6). It is also an unhealthy lifestyle.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

Stop blaming the Police. They are just enforcing the law. Till marijuana remains illegal, they have to enforce the law. Respect to our brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, moms, and dad who are members of the DPF. Continue to uphold the law and protecting and preserving law in order in Dominica.
