Portsmouth man gets five years for attempted rape

court newsRonald Lestrade, of Lagoon Portsmouth, was jailed for five years for attempted rape and five years for burglary after he pleaded guilty to the both charges.

The sentences are to run concurrently.

According to the facts of the matter as presented in the court by state attorney from the DPP’s office, Clement Joseph, on April 2, 2011 the Virtual Complainant (VC) was awakened by the presence of someone standing in her bedroom.

The VC thought the person was her daughter and she called out to her, but got no response.

She finally recognized Lestrade and when she questioned him on his presence in her bedroom, he replied, “I want sex.”

Then without warning he attacked the VC and a struggle ensued.

During the struggle Lestrade was offered money but he only insisted, “I want sex.”

He then pulled down his pants and attempted to have sex with the VC.

The VC called out to her daughter, who rushed to the room, and the two were able to fight off Lestrade.

They then ran to her mother’s home, a short distance away, and called the police.

Lestrade was represented by Darius Jones in the matter.

Finally we see the word rape in the courts of Dominica. I have not met a woman or girl here that has NOT been abused, touched sexually, propositioned for sex by friends, family, teachers and men they pass on the street.
Taxi drivers ask school girls for sex acts to pay for bus ride. Grown men offer a phone Top Up to teens for sex outside schools. It is estimated that 1 in 4 woman have been raped in DA. Thank you for decisng that it IS a CRIME. Now when a female goes to the police she can hope for more than a smirk!

EPeople who rape have a lot of anger, and rage due to what someone did to them, and the devil possessed them, and they prey on the most vaulnerable in the society. God knows what kind of disease they carry. If the person is of child bearing age and gets pregnant, what happens to the baby?.

Attempted rape and rape is the same. As a man thinketh in his heart so is he. They need to control themselves, or go to the Dr. and have them castrated. They would not like someone to do that to their mother, sister aunt etc. All of us humans have different filling and emotions, but we have to have a lot of self control and if not, there are consequences we have to pay.

We have to be aware of our surroundings and tray to stay try to stay safe as much as we can. The heart is wicked, who can know it. Sometimes the people we think would not hurt us, it is them that hurts us. Only God knows the heart. Stay Safe.

I would let him take off his clothes, then wring his wood like it is an old torshor. He would be crying for mercy afterwards. By then she would be able to cut it off and throw it for the dogs.

So this one gets 5 years for attempt of rape and WEBSTER EDMUND got ONLY threes years more for 4o days of rape and one some days raped twice, which meant the 14 year olod got RAPED MORE THAN 40 times after being KIDNAPPED and dragged to the hills of St Joseph for 40 days and 40 nights, plus possesion of firearm etc……………THE LEGAL SYSTEM IS NOT ABOUT JUSTICE.

Dominicans must start campaigning for this Judge to be removed from D/ca. Too many light sentences. This is ridiculous.

Here in the BVI we are blessed to have Justice Redhead.

He today handed down a life sentence with no possibility for parole in a murder case. How’s that!

Seriously? Was Ronald thinking the woman was his wife or something to be demanding sex in the lady’s own house?! That is something else! :!: I can’t help but worry that he might have raped the victim’s daughter if he hadn’t targeted the mother. :( That’s a scary thought & that was a horrible thing that he did. 5 years is not sufficient. :-x
