Detectives from Scotland Yard in the United Kingdom are now in Antigua assisting with investigations into the execution-style killings of two Dominicans on that island.

According to media reports, the detectives arrived on the island last week.

The reports indicate that they spent time at the Cedar Grove property where the murders took place searching for clues.

Alwin Robin and Alix Riviere were found dead in the house on October 4.

Law enforcement said they found 35 kilos of packaged cocaine in the house which is reportedly worth some $1.4-million but no connections have been made between the drugs and the murder.

Two Antigua ex-policemen have been charged in connection with the drug finding.

so let me see if i have this right. Antigua gets Scotland Yard to investigate the deaths of two DOMINICANS because they think that it is important enough to bring justice to the society and the victims’ families but in Dominica we can’t get scotland yard to come and investigate when our own DOMINICANS are slaughtered or when houses are firebombed? isn’t that of sufficient national interest?

” So it means that Dominica could have gotten the Scotlandyard to investigate the Gon Emmanuel fireboming. And why have we not persued that route?” (Pondera).

Indeed Pondera, the FBI, and Scotland Yard services are available to assists law enforcement authorities within the commonwealth which does not have the ability, or training for that matter to deal with difficult cases such as we have in Dominica.

I suspect the problem in Dominica is that the judiciary, which includes the police know who the criminals are; however, they ignore the evidence perhaps because if they bring the culprits to justice, we may well find out that it is not only the criminals who are involved, but indeed people with some recognizable name, and in high position on the island.

There is absolutely no reason why the culprits involved in the Emanuel case should be still at large: There is absolutely no reason for the murderer of my Nephew, and the murder of the man who implicated himself in the murder of my nephew to be still at large.

Usually, when someone commits such heinous crimes as murder, and arson, they leave trace evidence behind, the FBI and Scotland Yard knows how to discover such trace evidence. The police in Dominica and the rest of the Caribbean does not have such scientific skills, and knowledge to deal with what we have in Dominica.

The Antigua government over the years, dating back to the 1950’s has always utilized the services of Scotland Yard to solve murder cases on the island of Antigua, and each time they bring Scotland Yard in to help resolve a matter, the murder, murderers are always caught.

Here we have two Dominica drug dealers murdered in Antigua, one suspect has turned himself in to the police, the other was arrested. The government of Antigua wants to ensure that the true murderers are brought to justice, that is why they have engaged the services of the British Scotland Yard.

All of the unsolved murders, and every crime in Dominica can be resolved, if only some authority would ask for help from the FBI, or Scotland.

The reason why I believe that we do not request their services is in order to protect people in high places who might be involved, along with relatives and friends who are involved.

I believe the police knows who fire bomb Emanuel’s home, as well they know who killed my sister son.

    Thank God!!!
Alex’s death isn’t going in vain…..he was too innocent to die in such a senseless way. Irrespective of what others may think, no one should die in such a brutal way.
i pray to the Father above that justice is served!….people on the ground are talking, because they know what went on;….who’s gonna kill in a drug deal and leave drugs?
I’ll die believing that this young man must have heard or seen something he shouldn’t have; BUT actually being involved in illegal activities???…..hell no!
Prayer brings everything into light, and the truth will come out…..
Father God we pray that you bring justice to all, and let those deserving of punishment for this innocent young man”s death be so rewarded.

Are you suggesting that the Antiguan authorities brrought in Scotland Yard because the murder victims were “high class”? For a start they were Dominican nationals, so why should the authorities of Antigua afford them “preferrential” treatment? They brought in outsiders precisely because some of their own police, retired or not, are allegedly involved. Are our policing skills that superior to Antigua’s (here it suffices to mention our dismal conviction record), is it a question of arrogance or are we spurning outside expertise out of fear they may discover something we rather not disclose? This matter will not go away until it is properly and justly addressed.

These are some of the things that progressive countries and governments do.That’s why i called my country one where the rule of law is asleep, and we accept it.
Those who tried to kill GON Emmanuel would have had their day in court longtime.

Whaw! The murders happened in October 2012 and just a mont later, Antigua is able to get the Scotland yard to assist them. What does that say to us in Dominica? Why can we not seek help from them to help with the Christmas Day Bombing?

  12. November 6, 2012

Mr PM can you ask the scotland yard investigators to drop by to check on GON EManuel case. Also mwanga and the police officer whose house was also fire bombed.

Fair comment and a noble thing to ask of our beloved Prime Minister. I trust that he’ll accede to the request as he promotes peace and justice must precede peace. I expect him to so act on behalf of the fire bombed senior citizens because he loves the elderly of the land.

Whilst the Scotland Yard are at it they can interview Seco/Seyco on their way down here.

The Antiguan government has put us in the shade with this swift and decisive action. Imagine they are doing that for non-nationals and we can’t even do this for our own?
