The police, family, welfare officers and all others concerned are still in search of 14-year-old girl Shanice Jemmot of Layou who went missing last Thursday.
Additionally the police have this morning alerted the public of another man who has gone missing from the same area.
He is Webster Edmund.
Police Spokesman Inspector Claude Weekes told the Matt in the Morning radio program this morning that Edmund is a person of high interest to the police in connection to unrelated matters.
He pointed out the search for Edmund is not in anyway related to the missing girl. Weekes asked the public to provide the police of any information on the missing man.
Jemmot’s family, police and welfare has made continuous calls for her safe return.
They have been calling on the public to assist in any way possible.

A young girl goes missing in broad daylight dressed in ITSS school uniform. It is a unique, easy to spot uniform. Unless she has had access to more clothes, she should still be wearing that uniform. In a distance of 3-4 miles between her home and her school, no trace of her was found. Also no one can yet come forward and say she was seen. That suggests that another person may have been involved and some form of enclosed vehicle was used to transport her. The only information currently available is that a male person in her area is also missing. Nothing new has come out of this. No new leads, while the country goes on its merry way to celebrate carnival 2011. There seem to be a silence as if the country has come to accept it and has resigned to the fact that she has inexplicably disappeared. As if the country is satisfied to wait and see what the police come up with. Is this it for Shanice? have we given up so a trend can be established like in America and Europe where our children, friends and family can be simply abducted from the streets? In this little 305 square miles of country surrounded by sea, a beautiful young lady in school uniform can disappear without a trace? Who then will be next? Who is the next family to cry in anguish over a missing child or relative? Will we continue to talk for a week or more then go silent? Let us keep up the talk, keep up the pressure, keep the interest in this matter until her safe return or discovery. It is written in the Word of Yahweh “for my people is foolish. they are wise to do evil but to do good they have no knowledge.” I pray there be those among us who will stay commited to do good in this evil times we are living in.

Fellow Dominicans, we cannot afford our children missing in a tiny country like Dominica. Every mother should rally with the whole community to try and find this child. This should be a priority on the island right now . If our children begin to dissapear in Dominica , we are finished. Lawlessness and the lack of accountability is the cause of this . I wish that these two cases had been handled differently. I am not there but these seem to be two different situations, sad as they are. I honestly wish that they daughter comes home safely as a father of girls. As a brother of the missing and center of all this, I hope that he is found and gets a fair chance to tell his story. i think they say the first 48 hours are crucial in a missing persons case… i really hope the police are just not talking about any leads they may have because it may jeopardize the investigation…not because they don’t have any.

This means they are not searching for him in connection with the missing girl. It doesn’t rule out the possibility that he is connected to the missing girl. The information being fed to the public is too little to allow anyone to be of significant help outside of “actually seeing the girl or this man.” It is of importance that he is of the same area. The critical questions are: Did he go missing on the same day Shanice disappeared? Has he had any type of casual contact with Shanice (he being from the same area)? Who reported him missing and when did the police learn that he was missing? Does the missing man have ready access to a vehicle (does he own one or use one)? There are a series of specific questions that will create a profile of both individuals and create hypotheses for investigation but with what we know, it is not enough to be useful short of a sighting. May Yahweh almighty and our savoiur Yahshua have mercy on Shanice and return her safely if she is still alive. He knows all secrets and can reveal every secret. I pray for her safe return and that of the missing man. I am unable to make a determination or pass judgement in this matter with the information available presently.
Everybody who in some way or another connected to this case is saying too little. Is it possible that Shanice is complicit in her disappearance? Unless we explore her interactions with her surroundings we cannot answer that question. What is this man being sought for? Does he have a criminal history? Is he the type of person who would do such a thing? Is he gainfully employed? Does he have a wife, child, girlfriend etc? Does he go to church? Does he communicate closely with anyone? Please note that evil is not evil at the time it is commited, it is evil from the time it is conceived in the heart. Who is this man and who is it who will vouch for his character? Who will stand and say, “I know him, he is a good man. He would never consider such an evil thing and here is why?” Men have very little respect for each other these days and even less respect for women–Dominica is not innocent in this regard like many other nations. I have seen this lack of respect in people of all ages right here in Dominica. I cannot speak on behalf of any of the individuals in this matter. Although I pray this ends well, I pray even more that righteousness prevails in the name of Yahshua our Messiah.

DNO, i think people are getting the wrong ideas of this story as both pictures are on the same page (story). my facebook page is flooding with this man’s picture saying that they’re looking for him as he is connected to the missing girl. i think you should have separated the photos and do different stories please advise the public

I think the police want to say he might have something to do with the disappearance of the girl but don’t want to be too quick to say anything without evidence. Something is a little fishy here though….both are reported missed almost around the same time and are from the same community. Just hoping they do find Shanice quick . Alas!
I am so sadden by this because I do have a 12yr old and she is my treasure I pray for the protection of my kids everyday and I will also be praying for Shanice and her family. Vengance is christ own and he will definately deal with whoever is responsible.

Parents should never be considered to be too possessive of their kids today – knowing where they are, where they are going to, whom they are with, and when they are coming back home, and checking on them from time to time. That’s a good mother and father. The world today has become decadent with unscrupulous people. I hope and pray that Shanice returns home to her parents safe and sound in one peace and not in pieces. I also hope and pray that the young man of high interest to the police is found sooner than later.
