Sherman Webb goes on trial

Corey Poleon

The murder trial of Sherman Webb who is charged with the killing of Barbadian Corey Rohan Poleon is now set to begin later in the January criminal assizes.

Skeletal remains that were found in Elmshall more than two years ago, were subsequently confirmed by Dominica police as the decomposed body of Poleon.

The Barbadian was at that time an employee of a Bridgetown bank and in the final year of studies at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.

Webb was charged with killing Poleon between August 31, 2009 and March 18, 2010.

Dominican detectives had traveled to Barbados to secure data about the 23-year-old  Poleon’s  medical history and dental records to positively identify the remains.

Poleon of St. Lucy, Barbados is believed to have been the victim of a gruesome killing undertaken by Webb as part of a satanic ritual.

Police Commissioner Cyril Carette had told the media that they (police) were led to the area where they discovered the bones on March 19, 2010.

Investigators reportedly found several bits of paraphernalia related to some form of satanic ritual at the suspect’s home who a few years ago was acquitted of murdering a young man from his community of Kings Hill.

The Nation newspaper in Barbados last year stated that detectives in Dominica had found a rubber wristband engraved with the name Corey Poleon in a shallow grave. The band carried the insignia of a Barbados flag.

Wearing a bright blue long sleeve shirt and head cleanly shaved, Webb listened attentively as the murder charge was read to him by the clerk of court.

He was not required to enter a plea and was later told by Justice Brian Cottle that he will be informed at a later date about his trial.

He is represented by attorney at law Peter Alleyne.

Webb’s case is one of several murder cases being heard at the January assizes.

As usual you people who dont understand a system allways put your own myopic spin to a story, you people sometimes read not to understand but to contradict. If some one is found not guilty by a plea of insanity,he is not set free to roam the streets or returned to his family, he is either confined to a mental institution for observation and evaluation or is ordered to undergo therapy. So people educate yourself before you go harping about something you know absolutely nothing

DNO, why is it that the media keep on drumming that this mad-man Webb committed his hedious act IN ELMSHALL? That crime scene was far from Elmshall. From what I gather from a very reliable source the shallow grave was deep in the River Claire Valley. Granted you can begin to walk from Elmshall… or Kings Hill or Morne Prosper) to get to River Claire and remain “off the beaten track”. So, please stop saying that Webb did his thing in Elmshall!!

Did I read correctly? Sherman Webb was previously acquitted of murder? Say it ain’t so.

It just blows my mind that so many people get acquitted of murder even when they are caught in the act. It seems like we are more willing to overcrowd the prisons with petty thieves than to get the real, dangerous criminals off the streets. What a broken and justice system!!

Everyone’s talking about mentally ill. In the report I see ‘Satanic ritual’. Whichever one is it I want to know if we really have satanic rituals including killings going on in DA. I know we have obeah, but satanic rituals??? is he a hatian?

2 words HANG HIM!!!!!! The caribbean needs to start taking crime seriously these days, because too many people find it just, to take someone else’s life for all sorts of unjustified reasons, then they go seat in prison, get fat and sooner or later be released . while the other family will NEVER see their love one(s) again.

Death Penalty NEEDS to be reinstated immediately to teach these bastards a lesson and let others think twice before acting foolish.

A few public executions here and then would send out a strong message to those idle hands and empty heads.

You shall have NO remorse for those who showed none to others. Its time we stop making a mockery of the courts and grow some balls, put our feet down to let these hoodlums know that “enough is enough”

DOMINICA HAS ENOUGH PROBLEMS ON ITS OWN, TO BE HAVING THESE KINDA THINGS GOING ON. SETTING THE COUNTRY TO FALL FURTHER BACKWARDS INSTEAD OF MOVING FORWARD.

There is no doubt that this man was a baptized Christian and who knows, a Christian Catholic. Shame on him that rather than serve God he served the enemy of God, Satan.
LET IT BE KNOWN, I HATE SATAN FOR NUMEROUS REASONS as he seduces God’s people in many respects for his cauldron of everlasting fire. Fools who do not love God, who do not serve Him and allow themselves to specifically conduct satanic ritual will end up there.
Do not worry. My Holy Water will drive this enemy far away from my place of abode, from myself and family. I am not without it. Take note Catholics and others. God is stronger than His and our enemy. God protects if we recognize Him, worship Him and ask for His protection as we perform good deeds in Jesus Name. In this case, the enemy cannot harm us.
This murderer allowed himself to go astray and follow the ways of Satan in such an evil manner that he murdered someone, depriving him of his life and imposed grief for life on his family of all. He should be jailed for life. Where else could he be sent to and incarcerated?
Human beings make excuses for criminals and murderers. God does not make excuses for premeditated murder or non premeditated murder and will not exonerate them. For, under no circumstances “Thou shalt not kill”. Too many people use mental illness and depression as an excuse to avoid sentencing and jail when they are sane. Most of all, God knows this. Let the punishment fit the crime.
Life is precious. It is a God-given right. We should protect it. We want to live. Therefore, accord others likewise. Never murder your fellow people. There is an eternal price to pay for murder. People must think of their end when they will meet God for their eternal judgment.
St. Paul said, “No murderer will ever enter God’s Kingdom.” These are the words of the Holy Spirit as inspired, The Word of God.
    Respect Life!

he will go jil because he can’t use post partum depression as an excuse to murder innocent victims like women do in DA. Such boarderline incompetence is astonishing.

Sherman should be free to Mr Dpp….

He does not have good head…..since having depression can be an excuse to wak away from y crime, 60% of people in jail in america have had a diagnosis of mental illness at sometime in their life…do u see the courts letting them walk loose on the street

    • tiny
      January 24, 2012

fist of all prison is big business for America…90% of the inmates are of the same ethnicity as you…and newsflash most of the criminally insane don’t belong in jail…….. jail is the white mans welfare system… you hear their kids talking about how my dad is prison officer and they live in nice neighborhood and go on vacations…all because millions of black men, women and mentally ill patients are in jail.. they need to evaluated on whether they were mentally competent at the time of the crime

    • Justice and Truth
      January 24, 2012

      @ bambi

Friends do not hurt, injure or murder friends. There is no excuse whatsoever.
Are you also a follower of Satan, the enemy of God and of your (our) soul?
This man murdered the man as supposedly a satanic ritual and you want him out free? Were you also involved in this ritual and are aware under the circumstances that he died?
If he is a mental case he should be incarcerated in a mental institution and not as a free person to walk the streets among sane people.
Better to believe in God, to worship Him, to pray to Him, to serve Him, to perform godly deeds that will appease Him so that when you die you will obtain eternal salvation.
Many do not give this a thought. Hell is forever, burning in satan’s cauldron of everlasting fire.
Heaven is forever, to be happy with God forever and ever. Give this a good thought.
