Siblings on drugs charges granted bail

Virginia Julien and her brother Oswald Julien were granted bail in the sum of $225,000 by Magistrate Ossie Lewis on Monday morning.

The siblings appeared before the court for conspiracy to import 165,710 grams of cannabis into Dominica, possession of cannabis and possession with intent to supply.

The cannabis was allegedly found at the home of Virginia Julien on July 11th in Lagoon, Loubiere.

As conditions of their bail, the two are expected to report to the Roseau Police Station twice a week and are to avoid committing any offences.

They are due to appear in court on November 12.

The two are represented by Wayne Norde and their father Joseph Cornelius Julien acted as surety

Meanwhile the preliminary inquiry into the death of Bernard “Leprechaun” Paul began on Tuesday.

Paul was allegedly killed by Peterson Charles of Yampiece in December 2010. Charles is facing manslaughter charges and was granted bail in June 2011.

According to the facts in the matter, the defendant was playing cards with friends and did not want the deceased to participate in the game.

A confrontation then ensued between the defendant and the deceased.

While the two were wrestling the defendant allegedly used a cutlass which fell from the deceased’s hands and cut the deceased on his head.

Paul died a week later at the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Norde is also the defense lawyer in this matter.

MIXED up cocaine with ganga and make a super weed and when allu kids smoke dat believing its d real deal and they start acting up tell me dats ok!!!!

Marijuana usage is the reason for so much social problems causing causing enough mad men and women on our streets especially up montego bay and newtown.

We have to respect the law. Police go to the bottom of this. Do all you job properly/ I know attempts have beeen made to frame up people and also there has been cover ups. So people speak to your kids. Let us all pray to protect our nation.

Its high time that we in DA start adapting to some of the laws in the USA. There should be a Bails Bond Man in DA, when ever some one is bailed they should be ordered to pay 10% of the amount at the treasury dept. which is non-refundable, that money stays in the treasury, When these criminals know that their sureties would have to pay up front that 10%, fewer people would be committing crimes and ofcourse, that would be a reduction in crimes, Why dont the Law makers dont come up with some idead to make it work , its high time

      @ Shatta

Shatta you have a severe problem. Why all these negative comments? They are annoying and boring. No one can learn anything from your comments. The same words over and over again and on different articles which have nothing to do with the article. Cool it Shatta! Find something educating and uplifting to state.

How you mean marijuauna is not a crime, Shatta? The laws don’t even have to criminalise marijuauna for us to know that it is a bad drug. It kills brain cells; just as alcohol does. Every time you pull on the spliff, it kills cells in your brain. That’s why marijuauna users are generally slow; they walk slow; their reflexes are slow; their learning at school is also slow and weak. Marijuana, coke and alcohol are bad for us. So too is tobacco, caffeine, crack and highleaf.

The man died from A a cutlass wound on the arm. again at the princess margarett hospital, I guess it would be better to go to the old fashion healers we use to have in the community, one would be better off than goin to the hospital..

        July 25, 2012

@face up lol. @ jean Roger the thing is Dominicans have been trained in the art of dependency syndrome by the powers that be (aka the rogue regime.) Hence they don’t try to provide for themselves. The Haitians on the other hand are like fish out of water so they came with the internal wiring that if they wanted to survive in Dominican waters they needed to learn quickly how to swim. As a result they go out there and try to make things happen small or big for themselves in this land of familie waychen. Dominicans are fishing frolicking in their water seeing no need for dem to learn how to swim when their mama (government) always giving them crumbs to eat. A change from the top will effect a change at the bottom.
