Students who brought marijuana to school will appear before Roseau magistrate

Two male students who attend a secondary school in the Roseau catchment area are set to appear before the Roseau Magistrate’s court after they were caught with cannabis on the school’s compound.

According to Chief Prosecutor and Police Public Relations Officer Inspector Claude Weekes, the two boys were apprehended with five “five bags” of marijuana in their knap sacks.

The boys were brought before the courts and are set to appear for trial at a later date.

our school children need prayers. I can imagine how his parents feel. Children have a way of embarassing dere parents.

it takes alot of sacrifice to send dem to school and dats the results. well this time for sure i know none of his parents do drugs.

the home he comes from cannot be better.

i often ask myself what is it that young children want these days. Hmmmmmmm!

never had that opportunity in my days.

God bless them all. they are still young lets pray dey learn from the judgement that will be given to them.

Well young fellows I don’t support that. I don’t see y u have 2 go 2 school with your weed. If u want your meditation, please do it at home. If u choose 2 use the herb, no problems with that. Just keep that away from the institutions. Don’t be of influence 2 any other child. Let him/her take the task up for themselves. Come on i-drens, master the technique of accademics. Think of how much u can achieve with the Maths & English. Remember anyone can sell drugs but not everyone is a true hustler. A true “drug hustler” still is a shamefull contribution towards the up-liftment of a ghetto child. Focus on your school teachings fellas. There is lots of legitimate money 2 b made out there.

    which school?

    which 2 boys?

are you making up a story?

please publicise the names of these violators, gagnsters, murders thieves all persons who seems to be a nuisance to society, and a threat to the legal system and are affecting each individual in any way, these people should be made known.

stop hiding the facts because if these continue we are only allowing these people to get away scott free and continue thier wicked ways. let us see who they are so that we can protect ourselves and our loved ones from being attracted to their evil deeds

Very good I know of a certain teacher whose boyfreind smokes in front of his two children. what do you expect when the example is not being set at home. I believe that the parents should be charged to if there is evident that the parents are doing it in the presence of the children.

even if i agree that weed should be made legal, underage use and/ or drug use in schools should always be forbidden and i fully support the law on this issue.

And yes the school’s name what about it – the teacher posting bail his personal issue outside work his name, position and workplace ended being mentioned what is up with this. I strongly feel there is some biasness where Grand Bay is concerned.

We will survive we have always and will continue to. There are those of us out there who grew up there and we are decent human beings and not two of us so. We are still the MOST WELCOMING people on island. Let brotherly love continue!!! New year 2010

We should not be quick to try to destroy our young people like this. These students are going to have to face the court system therefore expelling from school at this moment is not going to do any good. First we are simply going to have these people get deeper into this lifestyle. I do not condone this I should say.

As for plaguing other children hmm! I doubt you on this and until such times when parents begin to STOP seeing the school and teachers as baby sitters this will continue. after school a teacher has no control over what students do and it should remain like this let parents take their responsibilities. We need to quit trying to find solutions overthere to our problems – problem is here solution is here somewhere.

    January 21, 2010

there is no good solution to this problem…if you expel them they lose an education and get deeper in the game…if you don’t expel them they go back to their school as heroes as the kids who beat the system…i hope the judge is fair with his ruling

    January 21, 2010

hello let just say some thing , we were all children and went to school but in our time it wasnt like that. children now a days they do things and some times we parents get the blame , wat i am saying is some times wen the kids are home they act like saints and wen they are out there they are demons esp wen they meet up with their friends but on the other hand they have a brain in their head they should not allow their mind to bring them down the drain and at the end of the day the parents pay for it .

  17. well well well
    January 21, 2010

i don’t think that they should be expelled from the school but i believe that they should be disciplined accordingly
like in the 80 beat the crap of of them
    and then fine them
    because they were dealing drugs
they didn’t have to show they others
they were looking to make some greens
your parents should be investigated also who know
this world is a wicked place

    @youngman in dominica:
Thank God you u hold a degree! I hope it’s benefiting you at this point, and you will bring up your children differently.
Why is it that they are bringing weed to school in the first place??
If you are indeed a young man, maybe you should share your knowledge with those students. since they can come to the school with the drugs, don’t you think that’s what they’d be doing on the streets anyway? Instead of wasting the teachers & the classmates time, i think they should just drop out voluntarily. I hope the judge give them something to learn from, because if it were my kids…they’d NEVER be so wayward. So, young man, isn’t it time for some examples to be made??
Until we have the juvenile homes, send them to meet all the other dealers. Give me a break, stop being so darn naive. I ain’t no hypocrite like yourself;I haven’t gotten involved with drugs, and as long as i live, i don’t think i will.
    May God bless you!

    TO YOUNG MAN IN DOMINICA
I like wat you started saying about giving the young kids a break but WE DO NOT NEED TO KNOW THAT YOU ALSO WAS CAUGHT WITH WEED IN SCHOOL thats not something to be proud of..DUH..
And these kid should know better than to bring weed in school

  21. January 21, 2010

that school doesn’t have a name? why the teacher bailing out the man for weed had his name and school published ?KIDS IN D.A TOO SPOILED. WHAT THE F…. THEY BRINGING THAT TOO SCHOOL FOR.

critique you are a real fool how can you say that they should expell the students, do you have kids of your own? to know what its like to have a kid at your home not going to school. That child life is over no future. Would you like that for one of your kids stupes people think before you comment. Young children go astray all the time they need help to get back on tract not explusion.Instead of explusion and distroy the children future help them.I WAS FOUND WITH WEED IN SCHOOL I WAS NOT EXPELLED I HOLD A BACHELOR DEGREE TODAY THANK GOD PEOPLE LIKE CRITIQUE WAS NOT MY TEACHER

i think dominica needs a juvinile center to home kids like these this would be much better for them a place where they can learn a skill or something instead of putting them of the streets to become bigger criminals

I don’t think they should be taken back to plague the other children. This should be an expulsion!!
I don’t understand what school children are doing these days. Are our teachers getting slack now??
I hope they fine them HARD, so the parents can learn a lesson too.
