After serving the Dominica Police Force for almost 40 years Superintendent of Police Nicholas George has retired.
George whose retirement takes effect September 2010 says his retirement will make way for a new beginning.
“Part of my life is ending and a new one is beginning. Once you have arrived at a certain age within the system you must retire and continue with your life while others will fill the void that you created. The years were mixed and generally trying but I feel honoured to have been selected to work in the police force,” he said.
George worked within several departments including the Special Service Unit, Commander of Southern Division, Drug Squad and for the last 10 years, he functioned as the Operations Officer of the Dominica Police Force.
He will leave Dominica this week to assume a new position overseas.
“I will be taking up a position at the Regional Security System in Barbados effective August 04, 2010 to August 03, 2011. Effectively, I will be out of the Dominica Police Force from August 04, 2010. The position that I will hold is staff officer. I will be required to do the duties assigned to me by the Regional Security Coordinator, so I have nothing that specifies exactly what I have to do,” he explained.
George says he will however “give it my best shot”.

Haha…boy that “Secretive” should take back that quote- “Assume??” is used correctly. You really need to broaden your skills in the english language. When we do not understand something we should pick up a dictionary and look up the meaning first. Joke’s on you SECRETIVE…..LOL
Congrats Sir ! you have done well, I am sure you will continue to do well, I always admired you.

totally agree with you Valda. Because Mr. George is an unbiased , no nonsense person they would never have choosen him to be commissioner. But any unbiased, rational thinking Dominican knows fully well that Mr. George clearly is the better man for the job.I have nothing against you Mr. George I’m just speaking the truth. Good luck to you Mr. George in all that you aspire to do and may God richly bless you.

A Police Officer
Yes I George Porah ( bath estate name) reespect to you man……you did you ting….still would burn a lil fire on you eh but i will leave that to jah…..walk well man, walk well
@ secretive, the use of the word “assume” is appropriate for the context in which it was use. While assume is usually defined as “taken to be the case or to be true”, a secondary definition for it is ‘to take upon one’s self or to undertake duties/roles”. Therefore the use of Assume IS good writing on DNO’s part.
Next time, instead of focusing on the editor’s try to commend the subjects of articles for the hard work they’re doing to build this nation.
Mr. George as a poice officer in the Commonwealthof Dominca Police Force, you have made me proud to be part of such a noble organization. The only thing is I craved the day when I will reach retirement as you did.
I remember my first stinct with you at Morne Bruce Training School in the eighties you referred to yourself as you humble servant. That I must say that no one can detest up to this oresent time. For you have serve with distiction.
You are my role model and an exemplary police officer that many should emulate.
All the best Superintendent George
from deep within
congrats
congrats on the new position
Supt. George, you will be missed, but I feel privileged to have met you and proud of your achievements both personal and within the Force. Wishing you all the best as you embark on your new journey. May God be with you always!
@Secretive: Assume defined: 1.Take to be the case or to be true; accept without verification or proof eg: “I assume his train was late”
2. Take on titles, offices, duties, responsibilities. eg: “When will the new President assume office?”
Thank you for your service Mr. George and continued success in all your endeavors.
God bless.
wow 40 years wow.u really need break know .
“He will leave Dominica this week to assume a new position overseas.” He will assume duties??? Assume?? wow, so much for good writing.
