Three more arrested in codfish scandal

Three more persons have been arrested in ongoing investigations of the removal of condemned codfish from the Fond Cole Landfill.

The police have confirmed the arrests.

DNO understands the three are employees of the Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation.

Security was breached at the landfill last Monday and the condemned codfish stolen and later sold.

This prompted the authorities to alert the public not to buy codfish on the black market.

Two individuals have been sent to prison in connection with the matter.

DNO will provide more information on this new development later.

I am wondering what was the conamination associated with this saltfish. We are used to COD saltfish. I know other fishes are salted and sold as saltfish but the taste of the fish is obviously different. Therefore, is it due to the taste of the fish this problem has arisen.? I ONLY ASK

Nice to see th police is ontop of this case wich i think is a matter of grave importanc cause u talking bout the posibility of the spread of diseases thougout the entire cuntry, however we want the police/law to move with th same sence of ergency in the cases involveing those in public ofice.

Its clear that the law is kind off in slow motsion when it comes to these individuals. All we asking for is transperancy. Is that to much to ask for?

America is the most corrupt country in the world but guss wat?, the government is transperent. Everything is accounted for no special favours to

anyone and even the president can go to jail if he is caught in a lie. So y can’t we do the same

“What I say I say” raises a concern here which made me think……Ok, two years plus and so many other criminals are getting away with other crimes, lawyers not being held to account or their actions, cases against supporters of the government being frustrated, answers from the dual citizenship case not forthcoming and so on and on and on!!!! So why is it that this one is being FAST TRACKED??? Why have the reporters been refused entry to ‘THE CELL’? Why has the minister not answered the questions to date?? Could it be my friends that there is a lot which they want to hide about the truth behind THE CELL??? Could it be that they do not want us asking questions but cannot say so openly, and so they are fast tracking this one through in order to get it out of the way quickly before TOO MANY QUESTIONS ARE ASKED???

What is really going on in THE CELL?????? HHMMMMMMMMMMM

What about the passport scammers and birth certificate fraudsters ? It is approaching two years and these perps are still out there but the Lamowi bandits are receiving fast track justice. This is not meant to argialize te Lamowi and cockroach crime but to highlight the inconsistency of our justice system. I won’t even mention anything about the 42 charges so as not to create a political perception.

Ok, Right about now they should offer a special license to sell codfish because no one is going to buy codfish anyway. So with the license we will know it’s authentic. lawd, look what codfish come to in Dominica.

what the police need to do now is to go behind those shopkeepers that bought the salt fish…..arrest them and sentence them, also letting DNO publish their names so patrons will not go to their shops and buy.

This is if they were aware that the codfish was contaminated and illegally sold. When others approach them to purchase their products, it is always wise to question them about its authenticity.

    January 23, 2013

It doesnt take much to know that employees were involved.
Because where the codfish was disposed off only employees could have known that. It was said that the codfish was disposed off in the cell ( a dip dip dip hole wii). So how could persons who are not employees gain knowledge of that.

Continue the good work officers- a job well done.

I am so happy to see ACTION being taken on an issue! FINALLY! And the codfish fiasco certainly warrants action. Imagine people taking codfish out of the nastiest most foul waste area to sell to human beings to eat? Good lord!

Next is the shopkeepers who bought the codfish. If I bought a stolen cell phone, I am an accessory and the law states I must be arrested as well so it’s the same thing here.

Codfish, if cooked and seasoned properly could be delicious. I like the boneless one for obvious reasons; less work with having to take out the bones.
I love home cooking. You could make codfish pie with also green figs, patties, balls and other recipes with it. The fact is, this codfish was contaminated. Those who searched for it were greedy, wanting to make money on contaminated codfish and not caring about the health of others.
