Two men from Morne Prosper have been charged with murder in a gruesome killing which took place in Silver Lake.

Lechar Charles and Jefferson Dejean appeared before a Roseau magistrate on Tuesday and has been charged with the murder of Fredy Claudy Vandal.

Vandal was killed on April 13, 2016 in Silver Lake.

Police say his body bore several marks of violence, including a suspected gunshot wound.

Charles is represented by Tiyani Behanzin while Dejean is represented by Joshua Francis.

If your eyes were that wide opened you would have realised that the person in the video going around is not Freddy. It’s not even a local video. Freddy was wearing jeans, the person in the video had on beach pants with lettering across the front. The underwear is different too. Open your eyes a little wider still and see the hurt and pain this kid caused. He was a human being but he was no respecter of people’s property or lives, hence the reason many persons are not sad he’s gone. It’s harsh but it’s the truth.

By your own words you condemn him . If you not a respecter of human’s lives your forfeit the right to have one yourself. Bring back the death penalty, so people do not take the law into their own hands.

If we go ! an eye for eye , and a tooth for a tooth, the whole world will be blind and again, no one will be able to enjoy those sweet apples. It grieve me to hear the death of any young person don’t matter the circumstances. I am made to believe that if they didn’t kill him, he would have kill them. If any human kill another human being, he shall surely be put to death. At that age he has so much to look forward to, so why short cuts. The dead boy was at fault, the killers are wrong. Thou shall not steal,Thou shall not kill. I pity both parties, waste of life.

Violent criminals need to be delt with in a violent way. We need to accept the fact that the island can never be safe like it was in the past. Stop making escuses for the criminal elements on the island by saying to leave judgement up to the almighty. It seems that as we wait for them to be punished by the almighty, they roam free to commit more heinous crimes .

It is beyond my comprehension that some people have such a heart to commit this type of murder and on a young person. Whether older, no matter what he did previously, they should not have done that to him. No excuse whatsoever!
If God immediately repaid us for even being unkind to others, what would happen to us? It would be a miserable, unhappy life. No salvation for sure. It is something to think of.
It would have been better that the young man was in prison rather than having died such a death.
This is just too young a life to have been involved in crimes/murders. Something went radically wrong in his sort life.
I pray that God in his boundless mercy pardoned him. God knows what occurred in his young life and as I previously stated, from the moment he was born and as he grew older.
I heard a program on US Catholic Radio about The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant. I knew about it. I looked it up, typed and saved it. Matthew 18:21-35. It s a reminder.

Maybe they need to bring back the death penalty. These days Dominicans have no problem killing and chopping others up

      April 19, 2016

I wished they would but some people are against it. Even though the death penalty, it must be proven in Court that they should be executed. They murder easily but it is a huge decision to execute them. This is the Law.

It would be a good idea for those who are not in the situation of those who killed that particular young man..he have uses guns and knives in guadeloupe to steal from people, bit up and injured people for their belongings ,he was wanted by the french police for many crimes with violence…so never feel sorry for him ,he is quite a handsome young man ,he could have planned his life better than that to have a better ending…now he cannot hide any more…

Keep your real name out of it. It is not necessary and wise to divulge it. Some people do not appreciate hearing/reading the truth. Nevertheless, we must stand up for what is right and against what is wrong and to be fair.
Hope they learn something good from the comments and make a complete changeover of their life for their good and that of the D/can society.
This is why sensible comments should assist them to learn something good.
What occurs in the world, in our environment affects us all. We are obligated to oppose what we should, commend what we should and to reprimand what we should. In so doing you never know your environment could be eventually changed by even one such comment. You will be doing them a great mortal and spiritual favor.

This is one of the reasons why God is merciful. He knows there is good and bad in everyone. Some may be worst. However, no one is perfect. There is always hope of rehabilitation.
If they turn to Him with a contrite and humble heart, making reparation for their crimes/sins, God will forgive. It is not His wish that any soul perish. Those who are especially alive have that opportunity. It is said, when we die we will really know how loving and merciful God is. For now we can only speak of it.

  19. April 19, 2016

I believe that this young boy hard a good side in him everybody have a good side. Some people put comments like they glad he’s died but I know if it was one of all u family or bro all u would never put some comments that I saw . All u would tell one another boy I always way talking to mister and telling him stop Wat he doing but he wasn’t listen or they didn’t had to kill the boy so. And I know all u will say he was a nice boy because it doesn’t matter how many bad things somebody do they all ways show there family or friends there good side even if is one or two. So people let’s just say that God is going and juge him for all the crimes that he did. The people that killed as they say I don’t think that they had to be killed so either. I hope tiFredy will be an example especially for all the young boy if you live by the gun you died by the gun young boys stay in school and get all u education.

Well am happy that they got the men who killed ti fredy. If only the police of gwada and da could have made ti fredy pay for all the crimes that he had done before he died it would be better than how they killed him nobody deserve to be killed that way and for all the people i heard he killed they didn’t deserve it either to much dame violence. To the mother and father of ti fredy put all u dame knees down and ask God for forgiveness pray and tell the heavenly father to protect the other children that you all have so that they cannot take the same road and end up so. this boy wasn’t my boy I felt so sad and hurt he had to died that way and to listen to all the horrible things people said he did at such a early age this was horrible. Ti fredy rip I think now you going and ask the only man that can juge forgiveness.

There is a reason for all things. We do not expect one so young to commit crimes and atrocious ones at that. In fact, it is shocking.
When young people as he commit crimes, the Law should get to the root of it why, at their young age they commit crimes, what caused them to do so and how did they find themselves in that situation. They should try to rehabilitate them.

Its just so amazing how DNO blocks off some comments for want of duplication. I have made comments in the past, no connection with another person’s comments and completely different information and DNO prevents the posting saying its duplicate. Now am reading the exact duplicate from Eyes Wide open twice and it was allowed to be posted.

    DNO you are so inconsistent.

ADMIN:If you see a message which says the posting is a duplicate, that is an automatic system response, not from a moderator. IF that message appears, then it could be a glitch in the system which we will have to examine. If it happens, send an email to [email protected], so we could have our technicians check it out.

It occasionally occurred to me. I was surprised as well, even annoyed. :) It is not usually a duplicate. Try returning to your comment. Right click and you may still find it. You could also copy and paste it prior to sending it. Therefore, if you feel you lost it when you right click, you can return to where you pasted it and you will find it. This is a trick I found out. Don’t tell DNO.   Joking!

Good questions. You will have to ask the police and immigration. He was not born in D/ca but only of D/can parentage. Therefore, he was a citizen of Guadeloupe. What was he asked and told when he arrived in D/ca? What was the nature of his visit? How much time was he given to remain in D/ca? Did he travel by regular means as the ferry or airline?
With whom was he living in D/ca? Was the police aware of his criminal activities in Guadeloupe? If they were, he should have been under surveillance. Whether or not, the police authorities owe D/cans an explanation for his visit and stay while in D/ca.
It is my feeling that this young man could have been helped. Someone or some people failed him or failed to perform their job. An explanation is indeed necessary.

He most likely pass backdoor, with drugs and contraband… That’s all his kind does. He would have then sold it to our young people, get in trouble with them if they can’t pay him and maybe have killed one if things went sour.

They’re gonna spend time on remand, then released on bail then case will be adjourned many times until all charges dropped for lack of evidence, witnesses etc. That’s usually the process in Dominica, but if it was for ganja, then we all know it would be rushed through the courts and judgement would be handed down ASAP…. Oh please… Dont act like you haven’t heard or maybe even watched the video where it shows more than 2 people causing harm n ultimately killing the young man. He did what he did yes, he was wrong yes. Was he the only one committing crimes? NO. Are you without sin? None of us are. The only difference is some are done in the open and others behind closed doors. I’m sure if it was your son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle etc you would not be speaking that way. He who is without sin cast the first stone. I’m sure you figure he got what he deserve. Who am I to pass judgment? That is left to the Almighty.
