Police are linking the theft of a motor vehicle to the fatal shooting of Tyson ‘Boyee’ Thomas of Portsmouth.
A green Toyota RAV4 was stolen between 10 p.m. on Monday December 26 and 8 a.m. on Tuesday December 27, police reported.
While none of the perpetrators have been reportedly identified, police discovered “an abandoned green Toyota RAV4” at Chance in Portsmouth soon after the shooting, said Police Public Relations Officer Kenth Matthew.
“It is believed that this motor vehicle is connected to the shooting,” he said. Matthew revealed that the vehicle discovered has the same registration number as the one stolen.
Thomas, 22, was shot, reportedly during a drive-by shooting, on Harbour Lane in Portsmouth on Tuesday afternoon.
He is no stranger to the police. Last year he was slapped with 16 gun-related charges, three of which were indictable.
He was charged for the shooting of 36-year-old Abraham Prince of Colihaut on the early morning hours of October 2, 2010.
The incident occurred outside a popular nightclub in Lagoon, Portsmouth. He was also charged with a similar offense that was allegedly committed in mid September of the same year.

Approximately 1 yr ago two brothers from Grandbay were killed the shooter was arrested now he is out on bail drinking and partying. Wait a minute!! Who is responsible for the criminal justice system in Dominica? The young man had a rap sheet as long as his life (just 22 yrs old) and he was allowed to roam the streets free? Is this the same justice system that arrested two women for selling some fish by the road side so they could feed their hungry families? I am not trying to be critical but something has to change from the top down. Dominicans…it is time to break down every door at the government headquarters, engage the P.M. and his cabinet in conversation and demand change in the justice system. This is not blaming the government as everyone is always so quick to point out. Rather, it is tasking them to become active and undertake the duties that they were elected to perform. The government fell asleep at the wheel and someone needs to wake it up or the Island is going to go down a hill crashing if it hasn’t already done so.
And DNO, please post a photo that is easier to stomach…possibly a prior “MUG SHOT” of the young man since he is alledged to have committed so many crimes in the past. The police department should be competent enough to have kept a couple of those…I hope.
Time to chage the constitution and build a better government structure. This one is not good for us.

I have been to other islands in the region but never outside of that all because of no interest at all, i do not envy what they have. I consider what we have here and the lifestyle to be much better.
