Carnival warning for patrons planning to consume alcohol

One of the leading drug prevention advocates on the island is issuing a strong call for patrons of carnival to drink responsibly.

Head of the National Drug Prevention Unit Jacinta Bannis says persons should not ruin their entire life for a few minutes of fun.

“As we move into the festive season, I want to ask carnival lovers to be responsible in their actions. Don’t drink and drive, the sale of alcohol to minors is still an offence, HIV and AIDS is real so be careful,” she warned.

She said alcohol negatively interferes with the behavior of persons.

“Let us continue to drive home the theme through the year 2010 as we take Dominica to a new level by keeping it safe and drug free,” she asserted.

If alcohol negatively interferes with the behavior of persons, we should know what massive consumption will result in…………..( negative behaviour en masse ) (pun?)…………and not be surprised…

I support being responsible, what I don’t support is having people trying to censor people. Let them people enjoy their .. self. IF they wanna drink drink, if u drink till u can’t drive and you go and drive and u get caught then u should be punished. Be responsible, but at the same time we must learn to accept this is not a perfect world and not everyone will be responsible. And not everyone has learnt the concept of responsibility because we haven’t been given the opportunity to learn from our careless actions.

WHEN WILL THE POLICE ENFORCE THE LAW OF DRINKING AND DRIVING? DOMINICA HAS BECOME A PARTY ISLAND, WE HAVE TO PROTECT OUR CITIZENS FROM AVOIDABLE ACCIDENTS AND DRUNK DRIVERS. THE POLICE SHOULD BE EQUIPED WITH THE NECESSARY TOOLS TO PROTECT AND DEFEND THE ISLAND AND THE PEOPLE.
