Second place went to Alisha with her catchy tune “Pressure”, Sugar S with her touchy “Money Worries” took third place.

Other competitors were: Delah, Stingray, Caribbean Rose, Big C, Twanna and Lady Bee.

Would it be acceptable to see a teenage pageant contestant in the Queen show? Either you are a senior or you are a junior. I think that it is unacceptable for a junior monarch contestant to take part in a queen (not Princess) competition and then come back to compete in the junior monarch with the additional unfair advantage of the psychological effect of her winning on the minds of the judges.

One man’s loss is another man’s win. Leona give this young lady the crown due to the fact of walking off the stage. For real why is a Junior calpysonian participation in an adult competition.

Congrats Janae. I have always loved your little voice and I know you are a hard worker.Just keep focused and ignore the naysayers….
We Dominicans are just too negative…. You are wearing a crown, feel proud..

No hard feelings to the young singer, but how can a junior monarch take part in a calypso queen competition?

With all due respect Sting Ray or Alisha deserved that crown.
The irish kid going to mash u up in the junior monarch competition that is the only crown u will win for the season.

Who is jealous of her? No discrimination towards her. Look at her attire for a CHS student. In view of all these shows which some of them participate in, it crossed my mind this week as I informed another D/can who laughed heartily at what I stated that the name of this school should be changed.
The CHS of today is a far cry from those days when the nuns were the primary principles and teachers. Of course there were other teachers.
The nuns, Mothers – Sisters of St. Augustine, came to Dominica and opened the school. In latter years, they were not welcomed by a certain PM who was instrumental in booting them out. How sad. I do think it placed a curse on D/ca and the students including him. Some of you, if not all of you know who this former PM is.
This school had discipline. The students were disciplined. They dared not be rude. Otherwise, it would be loss of marks and detention received after school.
It was a proud time to be a Convent High School student. To this day, I am still proud of my schooling at CHS and have fond memories of it. Many ladies with discipline originated from this schooling. Our parents cooperated with the nuns. I have no qualms of ever having attended the CHS. It was “De” School; meaning “The School”. Sadly, as God looks on and knows, such a time has past.
In those days, where would anyone hear that CHS students were participants in Queen, Princess and Calypso Show and go out at night to clubs, etc. So much more could be stated.
It is high time to change this name for the name of Convent High School is being demeaned today.
I heard of some goings-on at the CHS by those students. They do not act as students attending the CHS. The report is not nice at all. Some may have since graduated or left.
Am I to conclude that there are no young ladies – students attending the CHS? They are among the future adults. Are they obedient to the teachers? Are the teachers able to discipline them.

Please PM see if this change of school name could be possible. This school is not living up to its reputation as in those days. May no one state times change, have changed and they should change just as they expect the Catholic Church to change to suit present so-called modern day ideologies and immoralities. No one will be going before God with such an adverse attitude.
This is what I remember of our Convent High School Theme Song:

Convent High School youths we’re our island’s pride
We the leaders of tomorrow in the shadow of Christ’s Cross.
One in mind and heart..True to Church, to home and land. True to Church to home and land.
Ready to fight for God and country. Honor, duty, purity, err we strive for our ideal
    Sure that nature conquers all.
    Convent High School youth…

Whenever we hear the words, CHS, those of us who were students during that time, cannot help but remember the nuns and other teachers and the discipline we received.
We always (also) prayed and sang hymns, morning, noon and afternoon and when we were going on school holidays that God might bless us and keep us safe.
Times have indeed changed; not for the better. I do feel sorry for the youths. Note what is occurring today.
God bless those nuns. They did well and assisted educating those students. Some have since departed. May their souls rest in God’s glory and peace. Amen!

Oh yess I’m with you 100% on that I remember those Convent Days it was such an honor and privilege to attend that school. As a matter of fact you had to attain a certain percentage or position on the common entrance to attend CHS I am so proud of my school, But I cringe to think of what it has become now probably real low class

Congrats! But my question is, ” how can a person who is crowned Calypso Queen could now turn around to compete in a “JUNIOR CALYPSO MONARCH COMPETITION , AMONG TEN YEAR OLDS”?? Well I guess KIng Dice could also compete among the Junior Monarchs!!! It is not right!! There must be some kind of criteria to enter those competitions. A junior competitor has no right to compete in a calypso queen completion or a calypso monarch competition.

I congratulate you out of respect because you are VERY talented but I thought there were others more deserving. I really like Checkker’s daughter’s rendition … I am a past Convent Student and as much as I liked the song for sentimental reasons, I thought there were much stronger songs on the stage. Just my two cents, eh. All the best with your studies Janae.

This judging in that show was terrible. I didn’t see how Janae won. All credit due to the young calypsonian cause she has a lot of potential. I believe the Sting Ray gave an excellent performance and should have been in the top two..MY OPINION!!!
