New Jersey-based Dominican dance group, Know your Culture Dance Group, has been recognized for promoting cultural awareness in the diaspora.
The award was presented by Caribbean American Heritage & Cultural Foundation of New Jersey, INC on June 24, 2013.
It was accepted by the group’s founder, Sabeniah George Mingo.
Know Your Culture Dance Group is a non-profit dance group made up of 50 dancers and a Jing Ping Band.
The main goal of the group is to enhance Caribbean cultural awareness in the Diaspora while promoting the Nature Island of Dominica.
The group was founded in 2008 by Mingo with a vision of creating an environment where anyone could learn the fundamentals of Dominica’s traditional dances.
congrats to you all from flexi.dominicans do not appreciate their talent which is universal.i practiced with eusibio at bu.
Sabina George was not a member of the Waitukubuli Dance Group. That I know, she is just another Dominican who love her culture.
Congratulation to Sabrina former member of Waitukubuli Dance Group so Congrtulations to Raymond for sewing that seed. Go Dominica!
Correction: Sabina was NEVER part of “Waitukubuli Dance Group”. Sabina had her own group Idromatic dancers (which mainly was her family). Raymond Lawrence had nothing to do with this that one or KYC. He nor any person in authority (Tourism ministry)has done anything to help Know your Culture, empty promises is all they’ve made. This award is for KYC and no other person or group. Sabina and her team deserve all credit.
