Defense to make its case in Green murder trial

Court gavelThe defense will start presenting its case when the murder trial of Edward “Alcapone” Green continues on Monday, July 8.

Green is accused of murdering his tenant, Damian Dorival, in June 2008.

After hearing from well over 25 witnesses, including two of Green’s sons, David and Dion, the prosecution closed its case on Friday June 5, 2013.

The last witness to testify on the State’s behalf on Friday was Inspector Robertson Laurent who was the investigating officer in the case.

After giving evidence on Friday, Laurent was cross examined by defense counsel Peter Alleyne.

remember the state has to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.no one saw the murder when it took place, the forensic evidence did not match so what is their case about.u cannot go by hear say.u need hard core evidence to convict.

You were with him and saw him do it? Do not judge. Have a heart. Wait for the end of the case and the verdict.

He was in prison for 5 years without being formally charged. He was under suspicion based on what his son stated.

Justice is mad in dominica. How couuld a human being at his age manage to survive such stress knowing that you did not kill anyone? Five years is a long time.multiply 365×5…and stil no verdict. Everyone involve cant even remember what happened on that day. This system is seriously flawed. Justice must be fair and swift. Let us get real.

He said he did not. Justice means the evidence must be provided on both sides, the case must be heard, the jury must perform their duty efficiently in the context of the evidence provided, and on the advice of the judge. The gentleman’s age has nothing to do with being held guilty or not. Being sick also has nothing to do with the crime. Let the evidence speak for itself. We are all sorry I should think that a young man should lose his life in such a terrible manner. It should also concern us that a human being no matter who that is should think, plan and execute another human being like this. We should all pray that this time of crime and in fact all crimes should not find any place in our social landscape. We all should feel safe in any part of Dominica we live in. We should also try to solve simple problems without aggression. Problems that we cannot solve amicably, let’s take it through the proper channel. Let justice take it’s course.

Like it or not, has it ever occurred in Dominica that it took 5 years to bring an alleged accuser to Court, one who was imprisoned for approximately 5 years without a hearing especially in this so-called modern-day era?

For the amount of time he spent in prison and no doubt under abnormal, stressful and unhealthy conditions which resulted in deterioration of his health or shall I say living under inhumane/sub-standard conditions, he should be acquitted. It appears wrongful accusations were brought against him.

Justice and Truth, it is so GLARING that you are an Al Capone sympathiser or should I say empathiser. You can sympathise/empathise with him but gosh, stop acting as if he was blameless in the whole scenario. If he is found not guilty then so be it. But let justice be served. You are always so quick to pontificate on other stories and I should say making some fairly good contributions. But since this story broke, it’s like Al Capone is innocent and was just thrown in jail for doing nothing. His own sons testified against him so there is no smoke without fire.

I repeat, let justice take its course and for once, SHUT UP!!! Say what you have to say but be balanced in your contribution.

There are murderers walking the streets of Roseau, of Dominica which all of you lament about. You lament that they released on bail. If one kills you or your family, what would be said and what would the reaction be?
There cases have not yet been called and probably will not be for years as they walk the streets in freedom and free to travel throughout the island.
What type of people are you and those others? You are a two-timer. Stand up for what is right. Have pity on him – God’s pity who looks down on everyone – with pity – you sinners, as God knows too well.
You murder from the heart. Some of you hate others because of their faith and religious practice.
You think you are perfect? If you want to be good, be good all around – as the game of rounders.
I detest hypocrites which you are. If you are a
practicing Christian you would pray for the prisoners and others who are released on bail who may re-offend including others who have not yet been caught. They are walking around waiting for their next prey to pounce on them.
As you lambaste him, and me, for at least having pity on him as Our Lord Jesus Christ has asked us to, what type of practicing Christian are you if you are one.
Five years have passed since it is stated that he supposedly committed the crime and it is time to release him. Ask yourself, “What Would Jesus Say and Do?” Think God!

Justice and Truth, I know for sure that your reason for sympathizing with Al Capone is because his son K Green is part of your family, Al Capone committed a hideous crime, therefore he have to face the consequences, so please shut the hell off and let justice prevail

You are the one always quoting Bible Verses to others, as you and I know, one of the Commandments is, Thou Shall Not Kill

A witness said alcapone told him that he was going to kill damien and they were going to find the body one way and the head another way. Thats is exactly what happened so either that witness is also lying with the son or alcapone is an extremely wicked man who did exactly what he planned to do, now my question is why anybody would defend a person like that considering all the evidence.

Justice and Truth, you are biased towards Alcapone. Apparently you seem to be one of those he helped. I know he has an ability to help once he is for you. But if you were his friend or acquaintance, you would also know he has that other side. For example pay persons to do wickedness for him and many other evil things. You should know how he kept a woman years ago in a container and the numerous abuse against his so called women. You should know also all of the austrocies that he has committed. Granted he went scot free so I would advise that you pray for him to repent of all the things he have done. I feel sorry for his children though regardless of the kind of man he was, he has a family whom one cannot fail to understand will love him dearly. If you are his relative, I also feel for you since this is terrible but you must remember Damien was brutally murdered and he also has a family as well.

Little do you know. I will not make you wise. From what I read his son incriminated him.
When women are ill-treated they should leave the men; run away from them. Who in their right mind would remain with a man who ill-treats them? She had her reason for remaining and allowing herself to be ill-treated. As for the other women, if they knew the type of man he is why did they put themselves with him? He gave them money and so they stayed with him. Do not blame anyone for that but them.
Do not blame others if they offer their candid opinion. You have yours. I have mine. Let the verdict be brought forth.
It was sad that Damien was murdered. I do not know who murdered him. You also do notknow. God knows. I leave the judgment to God. You are not God. So you, too, leave the judgment to him who will also judge everyone, no exception yourself for sins committed. Look out for yourself and save your soul. If you have children, pray for them too. See about you and your household.
