Tough race for national record holder in the Men’s 800 meters Dennick Luke as he looked to qualify for the semi finals of the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics this morning.
Luke, running in lane 6 in heat number 4, ran a time just off his personal best but was not fast enough to qualify for the semi-finals.
He ran a time of 1 minute 47.54 seconds to finish in 8th place in the heat.
The heat was won by Djamel Sedjati of Algeria in a time of 1 minute 45.84 seconds.
Sedjati interestingly is the fastest runner in the world for 2024.
Dennick will have another opportunity to qualify for the semi-finals on Thursday, when he runs in the repechage at 6 AM Caribbean time.

Obviously. Dominica is terrible at everything. Athletics, football, swimming….politics. You name it.
This just shows the immense work it takes to be at the top. To all the athletes who train thier best for the love of country and dreams my hats off to you. I know what it takes. Giving it your all is what matters and I am more about the journey, the guts, the sacrifice, the hard work. that is ultimately what maters most. Dude you living your dream. you are an Olympian.
