Despite the challenges in the selection process, history and the universe have a way of turning even the most tumultuous circumstances into opportunities for positive and unexpected change.
With this profound idea in mind, we urge President Burton to use her unique position to cultivate a new political culture on our beloved island. We appeal to her to harness her distinct background and perspectives as an indigenous female president to guide our political landscape in a new direction—one characterized by tolerance, inclusivity, a departure from divisive politics, and an unwavering commitment to professionalism in public service.
We, the people of Dominica and the international community, eagerly anticipate the positive changes and advancements that President Burton’s leadership can bring to our nation. Her selection can symbolize the breaking down of barriers and the creation of opportunities for individuals from all walks of life to contribute to our nation's progress. But to achieve this, we too must recognize our own role in ensuring that her presidency is defined by success, inclusivity, and a brighter future for Dominica.
Therefore, our greatest gift to the new president is to offer her a clean slate and hope that she will fill it with wisdom, compassion, fairness, and good intentions. Bernard why isnt the DFP making headway with initiatives to give the party credence? The party wont attract the best candidates if it is seen to be doing nothing. Doesnt matter how big or how small, the people have to see some kind of traction to buy into the notion that the DFP is a viable option. Truth be told, they are of NO relevance. Their demise has long been final. Imagine this, even the microscopic TUD (Team Unity Dominica) has more cloud than the DFP (Dominica Freedom Party).
